| General Overview | If there's one word that encompasses Anastasia, it's the word 'Lucky'. While she's one of the hardest working people in Starfleet, according to every commanding officer she's ever worked for, whenever there's a situation that hinges on the roll of the dice they come up double sixes. She does tend to help skew the odds the best she can when she has the opportunity. While she can be uptight and straight to the point when in the course of her duties, when you can get her into a casual or non-official setting, she can open up a fair bit. | |

| Personal History | Anastasia Aventnova was born as the first grandchild of the Aventnovas on Roma Nueva, a colony world that had been initially populated by a slow-boat colony a hundred-seventy-six light years from Earth. Her grandfather, Riva Aventnov, had emigrated there after the colony had been discovered by the Federation, seeking a new life for himself and his wife Natalia. Unbeknownst to them, but known for a short period to the Nuevans, was that there was a natural and biological radiation that affected children in the womb which altered the germ cell genetics to extend lifespans and slow the aging processes, also making these children more fertile and prone to twins. Anastasia was the second generation of children born to the Aventnovs, with her twin brother Alexei. Her childhood was significantly different than many of the Federation's childhoods, as Roma Nueva followed a modernized version of the classic Roman society. The Aventnovs weren't part of the upper crust, instead being one of the 'plebian' families that served more as the labor force instead of those that truly formed and shaped the society. Being the daughter of one of the architects building on the outskirts of one of the major cities, she did have some advantages over other Plebian children. When she turned fourteen, being 'of age' to choose her path in life on Roma Nueva, Anastasia made the decision to become part of the Navy, joining many others in additional coursework to learn the ins and outs of space travel. She had already been training in Judo with her mother Dahlia and had surpassed her in skill, winning the planetary championship at the age of 15, earning her a coveted position in the Officer Training Course in the Roma Nuevan Navy as well as a spot in the Federation-wide tournament in a year and a half. About six months before the tournament, with the encouragement of her training officers, Anastasia took the Starfleet Academy Entrance Examination and gained an appointment to one of the outer Academies as a Cadet in Security/Tactical based on one of the moons of Andoria, to begin after the tournament. Shortly after she turned 17, Ana entered the tournament of well over ten thousand practitioners of Judo and after a 10-bout round robin was ranked 42nd in the field of 128 finalists, despite having a perfect 10-0 record. The single-elimination field was made up of the best that the Federation had to offer, including a few Starfleet officers who happened to be in the area. Match after match passed until she was facing a Vulcan in the finals. Despite losing 3 points to 1 in that final match, the Vulcan congratulated her and added his own endorsement to her application with an invitation to study under him on Vulcan at the Academy there. With the prestige of the Vulcan Academy (Second only to the Earth San Francisco Academy), Anastasia spent her first two years with the discipline of the Vulcans before she was finally moved to the Betazed campus when she couldn't control her emotions well enough to remain on the forbidding world. She finished her training at the very top of her class of Security and Tactical officers, edging out the woman who became one of her best friends on Betazed. Anastasia was quickly assigned as a junior officer at the age of 21 to USS Sheffield on the Romulan Neutral Zone patrols. This is where she felt her luck had changed for the worse, because the Ambassador-class Sheffield was reassigned to another edge of Federation space, in the South. Sheffield spent a year and a half in the region on standard patrol duty before an accident on Space Station B-28 left the entire sector without someone to coordinate the customs and deterrence patrols in the area. The newly promoted Junior Grade Lieutenant Anastasia Aventnova was shoved off the ship at light speed as no one else wanted the position besides her, thinking it a dead end position. By this time, Anastasia had been practicing the art of Krav Maga with Lieutenant Commander Ben Jakob Sirelli on the Sheffield and had become quite adept, melding it with her Judo and had developed a reputation for organization and effectiveness. Finding herself in the back of nowhere, with Sheffield recalled to Earth for refit, Anastasia took stock of what B-28 had available: Eighteen warp-capable shuttles, two Venture-class ships that had other Junior Grade Lieutenants in command and a sensor network that was falling apart. The first two months of this semi-command (the Station's CO was a Lieutenant who was constantly drunk), she paid nearly no attention to the shipping in the area, instead focusing on getting repair teams to the sensors and bouys that fed the station information. That done, she devised a new pattern of patrols and new sensors to deploy. 'Customers' began to be located, with a complete smuggling outfit located that she personally led a raid on the asteroid base they were out of. Seventeen smugglers were arrested, along with several thousand tons of illegal goods that were confiscated and ultimately destroyed by the Federation after the smugglers were convicted. This had drawn the attention of Rear Admiral Marcus Bedrosion, the Task Force Commander that had charge of several sectors of this border region and Anastasia was moved to his flagship at the age of 25, as a member of Lancelot's security department. Being the flagship, Lancelot was heavily involved in answering calls from the region's colony worlds as well as responding to reports of aggression by other races and breakaway groups. Lieutenant Aventnova, promoted at the age of 26, was promoted to Assistant Chief of Security/Tactical and was often leading away teams to handle situations of many kinds. One particular instance of note was when she foiled an assassination attempt on the Mas-Tulerian Ambassador by their constant foes, the Otasoans, though her team suffered heavy losses. At the age of 27, Anastasia had been marked as one of the up and coming officers within the Fleet, even though she hadn't been fast-tracked in the command structure. Having been transferred to Starbase 234, she got her first taste of command as she was assigned to lead a customs inspection team on board the Venture-class ship USS Forbin. Placed with two other customs teams and a tender ship of the Oberth-class in this crucial area nestled between the Romulan and Klingon Empires, her team was responsible for discovering several cargoes of smuggled goods that were trying to make their way into Federation space over a period of four months. She was brought back on board Starbase 234 as a Lieutenant Commander and the Chief of Security when Commander Brianna Lustig was promoted out. For the next two years, Anastasia ran a tight starbase as she became the overall coordinator of both starbase security, but also the customs and peacekeeping patrols in the immediate space around the base. She finally changed her uniforms to the red of command instead of the gold of security at the age of 29 when she was made the Executive Officer of USS Ark Royal, a Sovereign-class starship that had been modified into a carrier at the cost of a pair of phaser arrays and a quantum torpedo launcher. The Ark Royal became the first member of her own sub-class, joined by Peter Strasser, Weser and Hornet as a somewhat experimental design. Placed on the border with the Cardassians, Ark Royal was tasked with hunting down remaining elements of the Obsidian Order that had grown under the Dominion and somehow remained active until this time. Ark Royal was the flagship of Vice Admiral Amanda Foraker as the command ship of Task Force 42, taking down several cells that had made their homes outside of Cardassian Space, including one that fled back into the space. While not officially a part of Admiral Foraker's staff, Anastasia was consulted as a part of the overall operation. After Task Force 42 was re-tasked to patrol the Breen border, Anastasia was promoted to full Commander at the age of 31 and as the Staff Tactical Officer on Admiral Foraker's staff. She spent two years on her staff before word made its way to the Admiral of a large starship in need of an Executive Officer. Without asking permission and using her privilege, Admiral Foraker sent Commander Anastasia Aventnova to the USS Dreadnought to serve as her second in command. |
