Hi All,

I just wanted to announce the addition of our newest member, Lt.Cmdr Victoria Aries who filled the role of Chief Engineering Officer.

A daunting task I know considering the size of the ship and its engines but a challenge well embraced nonetheless.

Please make her feel welcome on board, and try not to scare her away with horror stories of the past, we still don't have a Counselor to run to so guess you lot are on your own. Welcome messages and JP starts are encouraged on Discord or private messages on the site.

If anyone has any questions, queries, worries, moans or groans...message me.

Regards

Ethan De Havilland

» RELAUNCH - U.S.S. Dreadnought

Posted on Wed Jan 25th, 2023 @ 9:45pm by Captain Ethan De Havilland in General News

Hello One and All,

Today the Simm is relaunched following the hiatus due to my brain tumour and subsequent treatment. The tumour was sucsessfully removed and though the recovery and rehabilitation took longer then expected I have fully recovered.

During my recovery many people informed me that there was still an interest in the simm and it launching again. I have waited till I was properly able to give the simm its due and attention to relaunch it. Start how you mean to go on and such.

With this relaunch I am hoping to inject the same passion and zeal I had before, and the unending trend of trying to kill the crew, because what fun would life be without some danger right?

In any event, I look forward to see the Dreadnought take off again on new adventures and reading the content it's player base creates.

Regards

Steve

» First Officer Departure

Posted on Mon Feb 28th, 2022 @ 4:47pm by Captain Ethan De Havilland in General News

Hi All,

Sadly we have lost our First Officer, Lt.Cmdr Nimeeh Vixil.

Having filled the role for a good while she has elected to step down. We wish her the best for the future while I begin the effort to find a new First Officer.

In the meantime, things will continue as normal for the mission.

I am aware from some people are having issues receiving emails from the NOVA when it comes to saved posts, new posts, and PM's. I am having this looked into and thank you for your continued patience.

Many thanks.

Steve

» Happy Birthday, 15 Years Old.

Hello One & All.

Today is a special day for the simm, it turns 15 years old.

It's been a long journey especially for those that have stuck with it since the start and a massive thank you to those that have stayed through thick and thin, the death antics I subject you to all the way to the quiet times of activity. From starting in a Play By Forum set up and moving to a Nova many, many years later, from one fleet to another, it's continued in one class or another to what it is now.

Recently the simm was relaunched with a fresh outlook, new perspective and an even keel in terms of focus when it comes to missions, content and character development. I'd spoken to the player base who said they would stay so massive thank you for the dedication and loyalty that's been shown. Some of the additions will be awards, IC promotions, better encouragement for crew to interact with others as well as plot development opportunities for character development outside the norm. One change I am keen to do is play more on what the ship can do rather than it be just a generic 'ship'. The Valkyrie class has a lot to offer and can do a lot in terms of content but has not been fully used in any meaningful way for a mission or a long term plot arc.

I'd like to change that.

It's my hope that with a more involved hands on approach, a renewed eagerness to write I can not only continue to present a setting in which to create content on, but also develop the characters over time with the knowledge that the simm will not vanish out of the blue. Last month we broke 20 posts, which was exactly what I was hoping to do so already we are off to a good start. I know I have said before it's not about numbers but content however there needs to be content, doesn't look good if the Fleet XO's Flagship is not content creating.

Thank you to all and let's see what another year of the Captain trying to kill people brings.

Regards

Steve

» Crew Changes

Posted on Sun Mar 28th, 2021 @ 6:33pm by in General News

I would like to start by welcoming two new members to the simm.

Lieutenant Gavin Ross will step into the role of Chief Medical Officer, Lieutenant Nimeeh Vixil has agreed to stay on as Assistant CMO to aid in treating the crew of the injuries that....befall them.

The next is Lt.Jg Reagan Quinn who takes over the role of Chief Engineering Officer. The player behind Dr Omier agreed to step aside for the new arrival but also stay on in an assistant role. Its a big job after all keeping the ship intact from the chaos I subject up on it.

Sadly though our CAG, Lt Karl Scheer has opted to resign due to RL reasons, I won't go into them as that would be rude but the door will be open should he wish to return later in the future.

Till then, try not to frighten the new folks too much, I'm not all that bad....mostly.

Welcome folks.
