Mission: Unknown Life, Unknown Dangers
Location: Quarters

Testing was slow on the sample but progress had been made, while the sample fed on radiation it was clear that any kind of charge also gave it sustenance but not as much as radiation. Xavier had tried a few select types a recorded the results, but as soon as the radiation stopped the sample reverted to an inert state. The falling out with BJ played heavily on his mind and that was part of the reason he stopped, he couldn't focus, he was getting tired and doing more while tired lead to accidents and forgetfulness.

Making sure the sample was locked away again he cleaned up, sterilised the room and himself then pulled off his contamination suit to hang up. He grabbed his white coat and headed home. He'd been informed by Engineering that power outages could be expected with the works they were doing to combat the organism on the nacelle and for once Xavier was glad the stasis units had independent power units.

Xavier headed home, headache thundered as he tried to find something, anything that could help combat what ever it was but he was coming up blank. He needed it to react before he could expose it to things it would react negatively to. He knew time was a factor but he could only go so far so soon. Rushing meant mistakes and mistakes would or could cost extra lives.

Walking in through the door to home he sighed, a rough day, a difficult day.

The table was set with two plates filled with filet mignon and loaded baked potato, a bowl with salad, and a small dessert bowl filled with some form of crisped apple with a topping which could be ice cream. Two tall champagne flutes sat by the plates, and a candle burned in the middle of the table.

BJ came out of the bedroom when she heard it open wearing a simple white dress which left her right shoulder exposed and had a slit up to her left hip. Her black hair was put up in a French braid and she smiled when she saw him before she crossed over to kiss him.

"How was work, love?" she asked him.

"Long and very trying." Xavier spoke but the kiss added a ray of sunshine that was much needed. "Feels like I'm not getting anywhere, just when the sample seems to react it retreats and shuts down. I'm trying to get answers but it's not giving me any." Xavier looked at BJ and smiled. "You look incredible though, what's the occasion?"

"It's for you because you didn't let me walk out of Sickbay on you," BJ said simply. "Let's forget about work for a while and simply enjoy each other. I have to apologize for how I acted today, Xav. It's not easy losing personnel."

"I only did what you made me promise to do." Xavier replied with a smile. "Let me change and I'll join you again. Need to get out of this uniform to feel more...me and not the Doctor."

"Which is why you deserve this and so much more," she said as she released him. "Get changed. I'll be here."

Xavier changed, washed his hands and face to help freshen himself up. He emerged once more in a light blue shirt and black trousers. "There, more me, less Doctor." Feeling a little refreshed and ready for what ever may come as he returned to the main room and also BJ.

"Is Doctor Patrovski all tucked away?" BJ asked as she stood by the table with one hand on the back of his chair. She had a faint smile on her face as she watched him and tilted her head towards the table. "I'd hate to have a doctor analyze such a fine meal."

"He crashed on the bed." Pointing with thumb and hand over his shoulder to the bedroom. "So you are left with just me." Xavier replied as he walked to the table and chair to which she was standing next to.

She stepped aside, but kept a faint smile on her lips. "After dinner, we can go join him and take advantage of the time that we have together," she said. "You're a good man, Xavier Patrovski and you didn't deserve to be treated like you were today. Especially not in front of my Assistant Chief."

Xavier looked up at her, his hand reaching out to her and finding the slit in her dress so his hand stopped just above her knee pulling her to him. "You were doing what you do, I was doing what I do. Job titles are different but we both want the same thing, just, go differently about it is all." He smiled as he looked up at her.

BJ wrapped an arm around his waist and smiled. "And you encountered Lieutenant Reign and I encountered Doctor Patrovski," she said. "But now it's just you and I and we can put that behind us. If it helps to know, I was extra careful after I left Sickbay."

Xavier smiled, mild relief too. "Come, sit, join me and eat." Both of them had a rough day. He knew she didn't mean what she said, she was a passionate woman, focused and driven. She could be like a wild storm in her ferocity but it was tempered with experience and knowledge.

She went to take her seat across from him and reached for her utensils. "Just know that no matter what happens on duty, off duty, I'll be here waiting for you. Just don't let me walk away." A haunted look crossed her eyes like a flicker of lightning before she cut into her medium well steak.

"I won't." Xavier replied. "Besides, I think you enjoy these hands and a set of oils I have too much to want to walk away." Xavier got what she meant though and his expression relayed that to her as he started to eat his meal, which was very tasty and succulent.

BJ breathed an inward sigh of relief and took a bite of her steak after she cut it up. "Oh, you know I do." She smirked. "Just like you love me teasing you until you crack."

Xavier moaned, louder than he meant to. "It was incredible, exhilarating." He wouldn't admit that he craved that again, his buttons pushed in all the right orders to make himself lose control.

She gave a sultry chuckle as she reached for the salad and took a bite of it. "Is that all?" she asked with a knowing smile, remembering his cry of 'Enough!' in the shuttle when they were heading for Las Vegas.

"Oh I'm sure know that's not all. I saw your expression when it happened and you enjoyed what followed." Xavier chuckled remembering the pleasant aches and pains that followed his outburst.

"I did," BJ admitted with a smile. "Very much so. It was one of the high points of the trip, in fact and I'm looking forward to seeing if we can beat that."

"Oh, there is something more than the mile high club?" Xavier asked with a smile. "Just remember the last time I snapped we both walked funny for a few hours as we recovered."

"I think we're higher than a mile up," she pointed out. "Maybe we can get a runabout and break it in after we have dessert."

"With everything going on I doubt the Commodore will let us use a shuttle for our own kinky means babe." Pity, as the idea held some enjoyable merit.

"I'm the Chief of Security," BJ said. "I can say that we need to go on an away mission for something." She took another bite of her steak.

"You.....you are incorrigible." Xavier smiled. "And how would I explain a pair of flushed faces and tousled hair for example?"

"An encounter with an alien that required us to fight," she said as she went after her steak again.

"And how would you explain that pleasant throbbing discomfort between your legs when you report for an after mission examination my dear?" Xavier finished off his steak, it tasted good hence why it didn't last very long.

"Well, you're my doctor," BJ said. "So that means you can leave it out of the report." She reached for the fork and took a bite of the baked potato, getting a bit of sour cream on the corner of her lip.

"Could I now?" Xavier played with a smile. "I suppose some details could be.....forgotten temporarily at the time of writing the after action report." Xavier chuckled with the thoughts that followed.

"You could," she said as she reached for the champagne flute and took a sip. "You're the Chief Medical Officer. Who would question you?"

"Very true." Xavier smiled before finishing off what he could. Wiped his mouth and sipped his drink. "A perk of being the Chief I guess." She had a point, we both knew that we wouldn't abuse our positions but the play was nice, a highlight of the night after a busy day.

"Not going for dessert, love?" BJ asked him as she set her plate aside and reached for the apple crisp and ice cream.

"There is always room for ice cream with a beautiful lady present." Xavier replied trying to sweeten the mood. "How was the dinner?" His was great, but hers?

"It was excellent," she said as she toyed with her dessert and watched him. "You, however, are the one I made it for."

"Then my compliments to the chef." He smiled enjoying the moment going on between them. "I'm glad your AC is alright though, she didn't seem to like being isolated while I worked."

"Oh?" BJ asked. "I hadn't heard from her since I left medical. She wasn't infected or anything?"

"I have her under remote observation, miner cuts to the wrist, strain or two. Too early to tell anything more." Xavier spoke as he ate some of the dessert.

She looked at him and nodded, seemingly distracted as she moved her dessert around a bit more in the bowl. "I really hope she isn't infected. I saw what it's capable of doing."

"Enough of that." Xavier spoke softly but reassuringly. "It's just us, you and me in here enjoying dinner." He didn't want the topic to ruin the moment they were sharing over dinner.

"Xavier...I have a question and I'm not sure how to ask it...or how you'll answer," BJ said as she fidgeted a bit in her seat.

"Ask, and I will answer as truthfully as I can." Xavier spoke then sipped his drink while he waited.

She hesitated and then reached down under the table with her right hand and when she brought it back up, she had a ring in it that had a single diamond set in it. "Will you marry me, Xavier?" she asked even as her hand started to shake.

It was as if time stopped, the question rang over in his ears repeatedly. Shock, joy, surprise, overwhelming warmth and happiness. If he could have melted in the chair which he sat he would have, to have such a woman, strong and confident, beautiful and sexual was incredible and now she wanted him as her Husband. He reached forward placing his hand upon her to stop it shaking. "I will."

BJ practically threw herself into his arms as if she had transported from his chair and gave him a long, soft kiss while tears poured down her cheeks, but they weren't bad ones. "I love you, Xavier! I love you!"

When two bodies clashed Xavier hugged her as if all that mattered right now was her as kisses were exchanged. However two bodies in a single chair made it fall back, his hold on her took her with it as Xavier landed with the chair on his back and her atop him. He couldn't help but laugh he was so happy, his hold on BJ was loving and warm. He didn't care that he fell though the situation they found themselves in was amusing but the best of all, they were going to be married. "I love you too BJ, so very much."

She laughed when they hit the floor and kissed him again. "I was terrified you'd say no," she said, the words pouring out of her. "I had a plan to leave the ship and Starfleet and I was going to become some lonely old spinster on some backwater planet where no one would ever want me again, but now you're going to marry me!"

BJ fumbled around and took his left hand, then shakily put the ring on it that she had somehow managed to to drop. "My man is going to marry me!"

"Yes, yes I am." Xavier replied as he hugged BJ as if he didn't want to let her go, even his legs hooked around her where possible. "I couldn't be happier." He truly couldn't, it was the happiest moment of his life.

She curled up in his arms with her own wrapped around him. "I know it's soon, but you just make me feel like nobody ever has and I don't want to lose you. Ever."

As only slightly uncomfortable as it was on his back in the chair on the floor he smiled at her words. "I don't intend going anywhere, with everything going on just make sure you don't go anywhere too."

BJ rolled aside and pulled him with her until he was on top. "Good," she said. "Because I don't plan on letting you go."

Xavier smiled as he leant forward and kissed her neck, he hoped he was not kneeling on her dress, it looked very good on her and didn't want to tear it even if the slit up the side was high. "What else do you plan on doing?"

"Everything," she purred when he kissed her neck. "And then some."

"Oh....I can't wait." Xavier whispered between kisses and grins, overflowing with joy and happiness at what the future held for them together.

"Come on, baby," BJ said. "Let's go practice consummating and I'll give you your real dessert.

A smile a mile wide grew on Xavier's face. "Done." He didn't need to be told twice, he was up from his knees to feet in no time and helped his wife to be up as well before swiftly leading her to the bedroom.
