Mission: Unknown Life, Unknown Dangers
Location: Science Labs

After returning to the Dreadnought, Ayla, upon hearing that one of the creatures they encountered over on the other ship, had stayed in the Science labs, running endless experiments. From viruses to different bands of radiant energy, it survived them all. Some of the energy caused it to grow and others it just sluffed off without effects.

"Squeee!" She spoke softly as she looked at the latest results. "Thatz one tough creature!" She mumbled, as she forgot her maim job as First Officer and focused on helping to save the ship.

"Have wez tried high intensity laser?" Ayla looking back through all the failed testing they had done.

"Not yet. It absorbs energy as food, Ma'am." one of the Science personnel spoke up.

"Set it up. Run through all weapon grade phasers, Disruptors. Plasma and Laser." Ayla leaned back in her seat to look over at the Science Team.

She got nods from the Scientist as they broke up to set up the a new test that involved weapon grade energy types.

Several hours later, a mega joule laser fired its deadly beam at the same type of creature that had gotten hold of the nacelle. But this was the Science test subject. The first few seconds of Laser operation. Nothing was happening, then the creature's skin began to bubble and then turned black.

A soft hesitant cheer erupted from those watching through heavily shielded goggles. Ayla smiled and moved away from the testing room into her office, removing the goggles to be able to see again.

=^= "Mez Lord? Captain. Commodore Hood." =^= Ayla attentively began as she contacted Commodore Hood, knowingly she should be taking it easy to recoup from the loss of the youngest daughter of hers and Marks.

=^= "Ayla." =^= William spoke, surprised to hear her voice recalling that she should be at home following the loss of a family member. "Shouldn't you be relaxing at home with the family?" If her service record was anything to go by, the Mousian was not one to sit and wait.

Ayla looked thoughtful, even with the reminder of her loss, she drove on bravely, =^= "It wouldn't do mez any good to mope around while mez home and community was threatened.. Iz have the living to worry about as Iz still have mez mate and daughter to take care of." =^= She paused a few seconds, taking a deep breath. =^= "Iz believe Wez.. Science Department... have found a weakness in the entity that has our ship in its grip. A Mega Joule Laser. Based on Sol-3's twentieth century design. Not the 24th Phaser technology. " =^=

"Commendable idea Commander." Will had not thought of using older tech, it went to show just how dependant they had become on modern marvels. "However Lt. Bradshaw has proposed an idea that while risky offers the best chance to cut the head off this thing." Will forwarded her all the information and details so that she was clued in.

"Our CAG is preparing his squadron now, I'd like you to log all active sensor readings, visual and audio logs from when the mission starts to when the fighters return. I suspect this will be needed for when I explain why the ships missing a nacelle." Will continued, dreading that particular conversation.

"Squeee.." Thoughtfully as Ayla took notice of the data being uploaded to her console screen, speed reading through it as it appeared. Getting the gist of the planned actions. "Iz get on it right away." A discernable pause as she gave a Mousian version of a smirk. "Its yoozez tail. Out."

Ayla killed the connection as she gave orders to record upcoming operation with CAG and the Dreadnought.

William smirked, Ayla was the playful sort if her records and the Admiral's information was anything to go by. Still she was a dedicated and devoted officer and Wife to the slightly more rough edged Tactical Officer. He was still getting used to the personalities of his crew, they said that challenge brings out the best in people but when a bio organism is a terror to the ship its hard to see such.
