Mission: The Emerald Road
Location: Hanger Bay

Hanger Bay

Having overseen the safe stowage of munitions that the fighters were loaded with, since they were not able for safety reasons to keep them loaded on the crafts themselves most of the pilots returned to basic maintenance and upkeep. A few had already settled in and started to mingle with the crew of the ship but most simply kept to themselves. It was expected really since they saw themselves as different to the rest of the crew in light of what they did, there was always the risk that every time they strapped themselves in and launched it could be the last. As a knock on from that they saw other pilots as family, the people they could count on and turn to in times of need which obviously left them less interactive with others.

To most of his squadron they made great lengths in the care of the fighters they flew, trust was key between them not just in the cockpit but out of it as well, they had to be able to depend on the other pilots and as a result any new pilots always had a harder time to fit in. As case in point for young Ensign June S'jet. A skilled pilot by any means and capable in holding her own but recently she had trouble fitting in, this as it was discovered was because she turned down the advances of another pilot and Zan had to stomp on it before it got out of hand. Which it did. He was not going to blame June for what was otherwise a straight and simple issue, the rejected however didn't take it well.

Zan took care of his team, they had to be one because of the level of dependence they had on each other. If you didn't trust the person flying next to you then not only could that split the team but that was also the weak link in the teamwork and lives could be lost.

"June, got a minute?" He asked perched on the edge of his cockpit having run a series of tests on the electronics.

June walked over ans climbed a step or two on the ladder. "Sir." She asked inquiringly wondering what was up.

"Is everything alright now?" He had to make sure the issue was settled, there was soo little room for things to get between the pilots.

"Everything is fine, a few of the guys have spoken to me supporting what I did and I feel more apart of the team because of it."

"Good." Zan nodded, glad that one particular issue was done with. "How's your fighter?"

"Okay, I'm fine tuning it for my flight style, feels a little sluggish on the rolls." June answered

"Check the inertial dampeners, they might be set too high. Many pilots down tune it so they have more of a feel of the craft, I do it." Zan spoke.

June had heard other pilots do it but until now wanted to try and push the fighter instead of change it. Still though, it meant that she'd have to do what she was trying not to.

"Wrap up pilots, simulation in twenty. Formation and close support training." Zan said as he climbed down the ladder after June made way.
