Mission: The Emerald Road
Location: Crew Quarters
Timeline: Just after "Care to explain."

Locking her door, Acacia Thomas had stood, with her back pressed to the door simply shivering. She could tell from the slight sparkle at the edge of her vision that she was hyperventilating, and she tried to control it as best she could. The loss of the adrenaline coursing through her veins when she'd gotten here had almost sent her for the toilet, for nausea and the shakes were only part of her response to its loss. Thank you for not happening in front of Jack . I would never have recovered if he thought I was afraid of him. she thought as she slid to a sitting position right there against her own door. She'd experienced adrenaline drop before , but never in such a violent manner. Sweat beaded on her forehead and she could feel it dripping down her back as she rested her head on her knees.

Breathe. Tremors rocked her whole body , and she knew that all she had to do was wait it out and she would be all right. If she was being honest with herself she had been afraid for a few seconds as his fingers cut off her air, it was impossible not to be in that situation. Now however...she wasnt afraid, but she also didnt want that situation to ever repeat itself.

Sooner or later she would have to get up and look at herself, and deal with the physical aftermath of her morning. Having no real idea how long shed sat there on the floor shaking and cold, Acacia grasped the doorframe and hauled herself up.
The uniform could go in the recycler because the sweat from the adrenalin dump was beginning to crystalize on her skin. She forced herself to look in the mirror. Violet curls caressed an eye and cheek that were nearly the same shade. Now at least she could button the uniform jacket. Trembling fingers unwrapped the the uniform from her throat. The fingermarks were still visible around her throat. Acacias fingertips caressed where his fingers had grasped. The glostly touch casued her to feel his grip again ans she took a long slow deep breath. Swallowing around a mouth gone dry, she chewed her lower lip as she gazed at herself in the floor length mirror. Her hand was curled around a dermal regenerator, as she set out to erase the physical damage that hed inflicted on her. Each soft pass, with the glowing, humming little device lightened the marks till they would no longer be visible. The fight had left her with other bruises but most of those-except the eye she would let heal on their own. The way she figured it she'd earned those, though she did not want the black eye and have to explain to anyone else what happened to her.

A tear welled up in her eye, born half of pain and half of sorrow, and began burning its way down her pale cheek, to fall unnoticed to the carpeted floor. Prickling began in the corners of her eyes, and crept down her nose, the feeling making her chest tighten and ache deeply. So deeply in fact she couldnt begin to articulate it. Have I spoiled everything? I could not bear it . How did this happen so quickly, how are my feelings this powerful already?

Acacia's fingertips touched the edge of the puffy skin, no longer bruised but still swollen under her eye, even as gentle as she was the touch caused pain to arch from her eye down her jaw. A choked noise escaped her as she jerked her hand away from her tender flesh. The image of his face- confused and devastated at the same time once more flashed to her minds eye. She'd never be able to forget that nor how he stumbled to get away from her, for as long as she lived. That vision sent her swaying to her knees, hand pressing to the mirror as she finally broke into tears.
