Mission: The Emerald Road
Location: Ready Room

Ever since he heard about Vash's abduction things had steadily gotten harder. His orders were simple, get her back by any means. To most Commanding Officers that would seem to be a free pass to do whats needed but in reality it was a noose in which to hang oneself. What happens after is often forgotten when 'by any means' is mentioned, especially by those giving the orders to a subordinate. Soon the ship would arrive at the location where the Klingon vessel would be and it came as no surprise to him that his crew was on the knife edge about it, some leaning more one way than the other.

He couldn't help but wonder if he'd put her in danger, the Ascension Class Dreadnought was something else, a fortress by its own right and with that came safety and security but the last mission had stripped them of that. Had what happened put Vash at risk through his actions?

He knew it was easy to second guess, to wonder about ones motives, directions or orders and often it did more damage than good. From the meeting he could feel the vibe of the room, the unease of the crew and he knew he contributed to it by hiding from them key facts about Vash's past. Information was power, wasn't that what the Romulans said?

Klingons were a volatile bunch of people, one wrong word usually meant a challenge and that challenge typically meant death for one party. In this situation the Klingons wanted help, Will needed information, liking it or not Will needed them more than they needed him. With it left in the hands of his capable security chief he hoped she'd be able to play a winning hand without a fight but the marine Colonel was ready for one regardless.

Will also knew that with every passing hour was one extra Vash had to suffer at the hands of those that took her. Time was not a luxury he knew that much, every action needed to be carried out swiftly, every order to the second given. How could Will face Vash again knowing he'd wasted time and prolonged her suffering?

Yet again Will looked over the information from sector command, the Klingons were the best lead and right now the closest. As much as he hoped they would be....accommodating, he prepared for the worst. The thought about boarding the vessel as proposed by the Colonel was admittedly an appealing one, Starfleet did say after all by any and all means but he was not about to cross a line which lead to war. A starship screaming through space was far easier to smooth over than boarding and seizing a vessel belonging to a major power.

All he could do was wait, wait the minutes and hours by as they sped to the Klingons 'aid' and hope that from them they got the information they needed.
