Mission:
The Emerald Road
Location: Personal Quarters
After her trip to Medical and procedure, BJ had to admit to herself that she felt really weird and wondered if would affect her physical performance that she had honed over a number of years. Of course, muscle memory would help but she was now a lot tenser than she had been in years.
Now she stood before the door of the quarters she shared with the man she wanted to marry and wondered how he'd take it when she rejected his pre-marriage advances in bed and how she'd go about it. With no more time to let herself think about it, she headed in with a smile.
"Baby, I'm home!"
"In the Kitchen."
Xavier called as he was mid 'experimenting', Maple-Glazed Skillet Chicken Breasts with Sweet Potato Hash. The sizzling of the meal in the pan, the aromas filling the room as he cooked. The table was already laid, candles in the holder lit. A bottle of bubbly was in a container of ice. He was not sure if it suited the meal but he wanted to make the effort none the less. It had been a trying time recently and he wanted to fade it out, if only for a brief time.
She inhaled the wonderful scents as she headed into the kitchen. "Hey, Sexy," she said as she moved over to where he was. "It smells incredible. Are you trying to fatten me up?"
"You think I'm that brave?" Xavier replied leaning over and giving her a kiss on the cheek. "Besides, I don't want to be the one having that conversation of putting you on a food plan....aka...diet. Later on down the road." He stirred the pan a little so the contents didn't stick, two plates warming, cutlery was ready.
"Why don't you slip your boots off, take your tunic off, definitely let your hair down and I'll plate up?"
"Sounds good," BJ said as she popped him playfully on his backside and began to take her tunic off while standing there. "As for you putting me on a diet, have you ever tried to take food from a Targ?"
"You can only use that if you're pregnant, which you are not, and even then only for cravings." Xavier spoke as he peeked every now and then watching her take her golden tunic off.
"Is that so?" she asked him as she removed her outer jacket, then began to peel her tight top off. "If it is, then you're in for a real treat and might need a cattle prod."
Xavier watched as the tunic came off, he knew what lay under it. A tighter fitting grey under shirt, top, thing. He shook the pan lightly as he watched, some sweet potato slipping over the side from his averted attention. "Oh yeah. Do I get a hint?"
"A hint of what?" BJ asked as she put her jacket and tunic on the back of a chair and headed to get a drink from the replicator while kicking her boots on in route.
"My treat of course." He looked at the pan seeing the mess. "Oh...damnit." It was time to plate up, while there was some to plate. "Whats the prod for anyway?" A slightly puzzled expression on his face.
"Treat?" she asked as the confusion mounted, but it had been a very hectic mission and they were still outside of Federation space. "To keep me from the food, of course."
Then Xavier realised he'd misunderstood, the click could almost be heard. The shake of his head as he couldn't believe that he missed putting those two together. "Wow, what a day." Bringing the pan to the table leaving it to sit on a mat so it didn't burn the cloth or table he brought out the bubbly, cutlery and everything else they would need to serve. "I may have suffered a quantity issue, kind of got carried away."
"Then we'll have to make up for it by having a much better evening," BJ said as she sat down. "I've been pushing hard and furious with Security, too. How did the recovery go?"
"Not well, Vash is in a terrible way, the Commodore is hell bent on blaming himself. Everyone is tired, on edge, moral is low. Sometimes I wonder where I stop being human and just drone on mindlessly." Xavier spoke as he lifted the lid and a fresh wave of aroma assaulted them. "I really hope its ok, I kind of just threw it together."
"Just threw it together, hmm?" she asked as she took a drink of her coffee. "It looks as good as it smells and I'm really going to have to step my game up." She sighed. "The commander of a ship is ultimately responsible for everyone under their command, but Commodore Hood strikes me as the type to hold in everything until he blows."
"He is." Xavier spoke serving up both plates. "He's taken it pretty hard. He even brought up you, when I was trapped in the Iso lab. Citing that you were there, doing something, trying. Where was he when Vash was being tortured?" He added. "I tried to talk to the guy but hard to do that when Vash was right there on the other side of the window."
"That was different," BJ said. "We were both on the same ship, not cutting across enemy territory by ourselves in a desperate race. We're still not out of hot water."
"We won't be for a while at least, well beyond when we get back to Earth. Will's going to have some very difficult questions to answer." Xavier said as he put his now loaded plate in front of him. "Anyway, dinner is about us. You and me." He smiled and then reached for the bottle to uncork it.
"Then let's eat it like a baby going after a smash cake on their first birthday," she agreed.
Xavier smirked, he did enjoy these little sayings that BJ would sometimes come out with. Certainly a different take on a situation to be sure and very often a humorous or comical one. "If the sauce is too much, let me know. It was the part I was a little uneasy."
BJ reached for a fork and scooped up some of the meal to pop it in her mouth. She let it tease her pallet and taste buds, then gave him a thumbs up before she started to chew and swallow. "This is really amazing, Xavie," she told him with a smile. "Nothing about you is too much."
Xavier was glad she liked it, he was actually worried he screwed it up but the thumbs of gave the BJ sign of approval. "You know, and I don't mean to broadside you with this but, have you given any more thought to the particulars of the wedding?"
Fortunately, she had just swallowed what she had in her mouth at the change of subject. "I have...and I hope you don't get upset with something that I researched in old wedding customs."
"Oh?" Xavier spoke. "What is it?" Unaware that she had been researching to begin with especially old wedding customs. He was keen to hear what she'd researched.
"It involves not having sex until our wedding night," BJ told him and hoped it was enough that she wouldn't spoil the surprise. "It builds up the excitement and when release finally happens, it'll be wonderful and like the first time all over again."
"Ohhh. Are you sure you can resist me for that long?" It was an interesting idea, building up that want. "Doesn't that include um....everything?" His hand moving in a circular motion with the fork in the fingers.
"Well, we can make out and have fun but no penetration," she said before she took another mouthful of food and took her time removing the fork from her mouth while locking her eyes on his.
"Can I get more of those oils?" The fun they had with them, even if it didn't get as far as sex was a lot of fun. The room smelt of the oils for a week, the bed just didn't want to give it up easily. "And outfits for you?" Remembering the black one from the theatre.
"You can, but I have say in what I wear," BJ said as she reached for the champagne, greatly relieved that he didn't seem to be upset over the lack of sex until they were married.
"Sounds fair." Xavier asked. "So what made you look up old customs? Did you want to do something different from the modern types, something unique?" It was not that Xavier minded, part of him felt bad that he'd not thought of the same thing himself.
"I was looking up wedding vows and then started looking up the old habits that humans used to do," she responded after another bite of her food and sip of her drink. "That was one of them and I thought that it was quaint."
He definitely should have done some research. "I like it, its very...personal, private, special between two people." He ate more of his meal, it was good but he really should have given some time to thinking about the wedding. "Any other things that you thought you'd like to do, or incorporate into the wedding?"
"Not really, but I'm sure that you'll have some ideas of your own," BJ told him. "Do you want a formal wedding or something simple?"
"Honestly I was hoping you would pick. I don't mean to say that I've not given things its due, but for so long you hear about 'the girls big day' and the girls dream about it since they were young. I want it to be you're perfect day, with me, however you want it. Big or small." Xavier answered.
"Uh uh," she waved a finger at her. "You aren't getting off that easily. We're in an enlightened society and that means half of it is yours to decide."
"I'll be honest." Which is probably a good thing and what she was after anyway. "I want to see you in a big flowing gown, I want the world to not be able to pull their eyes from you at how beautiful you look. I want every head to turn, hear gasps of envy as they see you walk down the way. I want everyone to know how lucky I am to have you." Xavier got a little carried away with the details as he continued to talk. "All of our friends, those important to us, closest, those we cherish."
That brought a flush to BJ's cheeks and a smile stretched almost from ear to ear as she got up and moved over to give him a soft, long kiss. "I love you, Xavier Patrovski," she told him. "And you are the one I will always cherish above all others."
"I love you more." He spoke after the kiss broke, then pulled her down into his lap. "So, question. What about names? Surnames?" He asked. Wondering if anything had changed from before or still going with the hyphenated option. His hand resting on her thigh, the other around her waist holding her to him.
"We can hyphenate," she said as she settled into his lap. "I'll be Reign-Patrovski and you can be Patrovski-Reign," she joked.
"Hmmm." Xavier thought. It was actually doable, they would keep the names but add on the partners. "That could work." He smiled. "But you...." He patted her thigh. "Should finish eating before it goes cold." Not actually sure how it would taste cold, but it was a hot or cold dish.
"I would, but someone pulled me into his lap and I like it here," BJ said. "So that means you have to feed me now."
"Hmmm." Holding BJ close to him he leaned over, pulling the food to them so it was within easy reach, he smiled as he looked at her then offered, with the food loaded, her a bite to eat. "Hows this?"
She accepted the bite, chewed and swallowed, then smiled. "I could get used to this," she said.
"I'm sure you could." Though if Xavier had his way the attire would be more revealing, which reminded him. "By the way, did you fancy going shopping when we get back to Earth?" Offering her another bite.
"Shopping?" BJ perked up and accepted the bite before she reached for his glass and took a sip since hers was on the other side of the table. "What kind, and what's the limit?"
"Well, since we are getting married I wouldn't mind seeing you in lingerie. Modelling for me." Xavier would have blushed were it not for the focus he was putting into distracting himself feeding and holding her.
"You want to see me dressed up like an Orion slave girl?" she asked as she looked at him coquettishly.
"What, no. That's not what I meant. I just thought something us, that we could do together. Have fun and enjoy ourselves." Xavier spoke a little worried that's the conclusion she came up with.
"Perhaps I could dress you up as one," BJ said, her eyes twinkling with the laughter she was holding back.
"I don't think I have the figure." Xavier replied offering yet more food for the taking after easing some himself. "Besides, my reputation on board would be permanently in ruins if word got out."
"Reputations are overrated," she said. "Besides, I think you'd look amazing."
"No." Xavier replied smirking. "But I'm sure we can spend a little fortune, we both need some new clothes, I know I do having put it off for a really long time." Which was true he had. "Do you want anymore?" Hinting at the food.
"I'm good," BJ said. "Maybe we can do another long shuttle trip, too. As I recall, you seemed to like the last one."
"You....are trouble young lady." Xavier remembered fondly that shuttle trip and its outcome. "I did enjoy that, just....something so wild and different really changed my life for the better."
She gave a delighted laugh. "I'm glad you enjoyed it, and I regret nothing if it changed your life for the better," she said.
Even as she sat in his lap he held and hugged her. Holding that which to him was most important, most cherished in his life came to him a sense of ease, comfort and tranquillity. He placed his head upon her bust and closed his eyes, taking in the moment for the all the peace it offered.
BJ smiled and stroked his hair. "Everything is going to be okay, Xavier."
