Rebecca sat at her desk at her quarters. Aimee was in the other room playing with her dolls.
"It is agreeable to see you Rebecca," a thin lipped Vulcan woman greeted on the computer screen. Her neat hair was salt and peppered with age. She had the three-pipped insignia of a Vice Admiral.
At 223 years of age Vice Admiral T'ral was the Academy commandant, and unlike any other Vulcan Rebecca had met.
"It is agreeable as well," she said with a grin.
T'ral chuckled. "My people's pension for understatement is legendary that's for sure. At my age this fanatical devotion to logic is tiresome."
Rebecca smirked, "I bet it is. How are you doing Admiral?"
"As well as you can expect," she said with a shrug. "We got one of our best classes yet this year. Cadet Alexandra Tilly is one of our best students. I expect her to go far like yourself."
"I'm working on it."
"You should have let me write that letter of recommendation. You might be a Lieutenant Commander or even a Commander by now."
"The answer is still no..."
"Because you want to make it your own way. I know," T'rel finished. "I can respect that."
"How's the captain doing?"
"Will? Oh they're likely raking him over the coals, but in the end I think he'll be fine."
Rebecca sighed, "That's good. I'm starting to like it here."
"The Dreadnaught's got a good crew. I should know; I taught most of them."
"You've been around long enough," Rebecca teased.
"Well, you don't have to get nasty about it!"
They both laughed at each other, they said their goodbyes.
