Mission: What Stalks The Night
Location: Personal Quarters

Jack sighed as the doors to home opened welcoming him to the sanctuary that was warm, embracing and soothing of the days woes. It seemed Acacia was not home yet so pulling off his duty tunic and laying it across the back rest of a chair he put the kettle on, Coffee was needed. While it did its thing Jack pulled off his boots and wiggled his toes thankful for the moment of freedom and ease in an otherwise slightly tight boot.

The kettle clicked and with mug ready and its caffeine contents waiting he poured. Almost instantly the aroma of Coffee wafted past his nose in that soothing smell of what was about to come any moment for him to enjoy. Putting the kettle down again he picked up the mug by the handle and cradled it with both hands under his nose, enjoying the moment.

Acacia looked tired as she approached their quarters come on her feet slowing down with each meter closer that she got. Tired was something of an understatement, as she hadn't slept very well. But when she opened the door what was the first thing to reach her nose, but the scent of coffee. Ambrosia. Nectar of the gods. "You made coffee. You are a god."

"Mine." Jack spoke protecting his Coffee, this was his mug of Coffee. Love her as he may there were somethings there he didn't share and his first cup after a busy shift was one such thing. "Just boiled." He pointed the kettle with plenty of water in it.

"Hrmph. I withdraw my assessment of your godhood." She muttered tonelessly with a half hearted glare as she walked into the closet to get something more comfortable on.

"I'm a marine, marines get dirty, god's don't." Jack spoke as he watched her walk into the closet. "At least I saved you some....thats got to count for something?"

"Oh it does" she called from the closet, as she Russelled through her clothing trying to make a choice. Her uniform itself went straight into the recycler.

Listening to her shift through clothes he sipped his beverage, sat in one of the stools by the counter as he places his elbows on it. He patiently waited, drinking his Coffee for her to walk out in what ever she chose to wear.

She chose for comfortable, and came out in a green geometric patterned silk wrap skirt that fluttered at her knees, and a soft black T-shirt with a single one of the geometrics on the left shoulder. Her feet were bare and soundless on the floor except for the whisper of silk.

Jack flicked on the kettle again, a fresh boil, steaming hot, the only way to have Coffee. "How was the shift babe?" Jack said still seated on his stool chair at the counter as he watched her.

"Pretty consistently busy, I was in the OR for most of the day. Only 1 really critical patient, was one of yours actually." She poured herself a cup of coffee, drizzled in a bit of chocolate and then poured a tiny bit of cream over it.

"What did they do?" Jack asked, wondering since the report had not crossed his desk of an on duty injury.

"Nothing they did. They just had a bit too much fun on leave and didnt recognize that what they thought was food poisoning was in fact appendicitis. Check your sick calls, not your duty injuries."

"I spoke to the new Counsellor today." Jack spoke having made a mental note to check the logs and see who it was that went down.

"Did you?" Her voice went up a bit in surprise, "I've not yet had the pleasure, though i did see her in passing. She uses sickbay as a reference for getting around from what I understand."

"I suspect a lot of people will be doing that in some location or another, this ship is massive." Not willing to admit he had to do the same thing this morning just to get to his office.

"I just ask the computer, like a normal person." she teased gently, sipping her coffee and making a blissed out face at its relative perfection. "Ahh..."

"Taste good?" Jack asked as he watched her reaction to sipping the Coffee. It was good Coffee he had to admit and no doubt much needed after a hectic first day.

"Mmmmhmmmm" she allowed the syllables to be drawn out and she swallowed that first taste of coffee" delicious of course, you busted out the real stuff I appreciate it."

"Well I figured if I didn't then I'd be in worse trouble and though you may be medically trained, it also means you know all the soft spots to go for." Jack spoke as he topped up his cup and savoured the aroma a little.

Acacia snorted, fixing him with a blue-eyed gimlet stare." You realized, that if I decided to hurt you, I would have to fix the damage" she swallowed hard and continued without any change in her voice this time," I've had quite enough of that for one lifetime"

"Yeah because then you would have more than just my EA to deal with...Oh oh oh did I tell you I have an EA now?" Jack asked. "Yeah its weird, shes sharp, on the ball, she just appears out of nowhere and ready."

"Didnt you already have one of those who was hot for you? Do I need to fight with another one?" She was definitely teasing now, and snickered into her coffee cup

"Don't worry I already told her about you, pretty sure shes already looked you up to make sure she keeps an eye out for you. Though with hair like that you wont be hard to miss." Jack answered. "But yeah I used to have one but this one is dedicated Admin."

A giggle escaped her once more and shaking her head "Shame on you for warning her."

"Well I thought I'd let her know so that you didn't have to go through the routine of explaining what you were doing there, it being checked and so on. So unless Im not to be disturbed you should be able to walk straight to the door." Jack explained the measures he'd put in place for her.

"Aww."eyes softening as she gazed at him "If i had the energy to get up, I'd come kiss you. You'll have to make do..." Making a soft kissing noise from her seat she rested her head on the armrest.

Jack could see that she was tired, it really must have been a long day for her so sat, silently, letting the moment pass in a Coffee infused aroma. After a while and seeing that Acacia was still asleep Jack slowly picked her up and carried her to bed.
