That Which Rocks The Night

Mission: What Stalks The Night
Location: Quarters
Timeline: After the away team has landed

Will's eyes opened finding himself on the sofa, jacket opened at the chest, a PADD that he'd been reading dropped to his side snaking its way between the sofa cushions. Falling asleep was not what he intended but it seemed it was something that was going to happen with or without his approval. He'd not realised he was so tired, with everything soo tightly strung lately everything and everyone was on edge. A Coffee cup sat on the small table beside him but its contents long cold after hours of neglect, with a sigh of resignation to his situation he stood up and carried the cup to the replicator and watched it disappear.

While the away team was on the planet seeking answers to where the classified cargo they beamed down went all Will could do was ponder on his future. It looked bleak, even though up to recently he'd followed orders to the letter the now was what would effectively turn the page on him. He thought about his career, his command, Vash, the last mission, his debriefing and how he got through it by the skin of his teeth.

He looked out the window to the planet that for all intents was unremarkable, some world in the remote area of federation space. Experience had taught him that good things come to those that wait, unfortunately the devil makes work for idle hands. Something rocked the ship, only a little but definitely enough to be noticed. Red alert sounded and Will snapped to it by tapping his comm badge.

=^= Bridge, Hood. Report =^=

=^= An explosion has decompressed the Agincourt's hanger, outer doors have been destroyed, emergency force fields are not functional. =^=

The Agincourt was one of the Defiant class escorts housed to the rear of the colossal vessel. She along with her sister, Barham were affectionately called by some of the crew as 'The Twins'. =^= Casualties? =^=

=^= Reports are still coming in, but confirmed 27 dead. Damage control teams are already en route. =^=

=^= I'm on my way to the Bridge. =^= Will spoke as from there he'd have better control of the situation than his quarters.

He was just about to button up the last on his jacket and walk out of his quarters when his computer on his table sprang to life. One word, in large white letter filled the screen. LEAVE

Walking to his desk he turned the computer to face him as a puzzled expression swept him. Was he being observed? Was the ship being monitored? Who was doing this. The moment Will pushed a button the word vanished, to be replaced with the usual display. That was something Will couldn't ignore but something he could do something about on the Bridge.

*** Bridge ***

The moment he stepped out of the Turbolift he was handed a PaDD that had updated information on it. Casualty reports were still coming in but there were reports that some were working on the Agincourt so there were some survivors inside the vessel. "Is there any information about the cause of the explosion?" Will asked as he walked to the centre chair.

"None, but we are looking into internal sensor readings and system checks now." Came the reply.

Will knew it was still early, he couldn't expect the whole run down straight away as that required time, people to do what they were trained to do and reports be written.

As if things were not troublesome enough as it was, this only complicated matters.
