Mission:
What Stalks The Night
Location: USS Dreadnought : Bridge
Ayla took noticed that some of key people were missing from the ship and the once secure cargo bay was now opened for other usage. She sat at her console and began to run deep scans on the planet below. Anomalies began to appear in the routine scans. Blank spots and areas where the scans only penetrated a few feet, leaving blank spots. She looked puzzled as she worked tweaking the frequencies of the scans on the planet below.
She mapped out a large facilities that the ships scanners couldn't penetrate. Fingers tweaking dials and shifting the power levels on the scanners. She began to finally penetrate the shielding that surrounded the underground facilities. She took note that the facility sat near a natural occurring hot springs.
Ayla gave a soft squeak of delight at remembering various other visits to hot springs about the galaxy. Maybe when this was over, they could spend some R and R on the planet. But knowing the history of the Dreadnought, they would be sent out on another assignment.
She looked thoughtful as she launched several scientific probes to the surface to get a closer scan of the area where the team had beamed into. It was the area just above the dead zone.
She studied the field that was surrounding the facility that was concealed behind it and buried several kilometers underground in a mineral thick environment. Plus there was other materials that scattered throughout the soil that absorbed the scanning signals from the ship.
=^= "Captain Hood? Could you please come to Science Station on the bridge, Iz have something to showz yooz." =^= Ayla spoke calmly to bring forth the Captain.
Will was surprised to hear Ayla's voice, the Mousian on his crew. =^= I'm on my way. =^= Rising his chair he left his Ready Room and made his way to the station that Ayla was manning.
Ayla brought the relevant info she had discovered onto a new screen on her console so that the main screens showed the current scanning in progress
"Commander." Will spoke coming to a stop next to Ayla. "What have you got?"
"This location here..." Ayla pointing map display on the console screen. "is a dead zone that ourz scanner can't penetrate. This is the most logical place they've been transported. But not by regular transporter beam. Itz way to strong. Unless there was a pre-programmed stop shields-transport-reactivate shield when anything comes into a sensor range in a pre-set location."
"Iz believe they was transported via conduit through the shielding into where ever theyz are now. That shield down there is military grade. Once activated nothing is gonna get through with a steady geothermal power supply. Unless there are predetermined conduits through it via cables." Ayla looked up at him. "And theyz are stuck behind it. Unless wez try to overload its shield generators so it auto shutdown or destroy them."
Ayla attention turned back to the console when it beeped at her. On another screen she brought up the information she sought. "Squeeee… tis aint good. Its an oscillating frequency shield similar to Cyborg... Iz mean Borg Shield Technology." After running a match to find similarities with other known shielding technology that was currently in use or the data stored for moments like these.
Will looked at the information being shown him. "Send the information to my console in my Ready Room. It's time I placed a call." Clearly there was information he was not privvy to in his briefing, information that now impacted the safety of his crew and when that happened, a line had been crossed. He knew who he had to call and while communications silence was repeatedly mentioned, this latest development was his excuse to break it.
Giving Ayla a pat on the shoulder for a done well job Will turned and headed for his Ready Room, the contents of the call already playing out in his mind.
