Mission: Under A Glassy Surface, Where We Don't Belong...
Location: Sickbay/Morgue

Nim sat at her desk, reviewing the results from the previously completed autopsy, making sure everything had been covered before she began transcribing her report.

“Commencing this autopsy… computer, enter stardate and timestamp here. The body is presented as it was previously examined on the holodeck prior to transport to the morgue.

Upon removal of the tarp, the body is clothed in a white button-down shirt, black dress trousers, and black boots. The lower half of the shirt has large bloodstains and the material has multiple tears. Blacklight scans reveal smaller bloodstains on the trousers, likely the result of pooling blood and gravitational runoff. There are no visible tears in the material of the trousers.

The body is that of a normally developed, well nourished Caucasian male measuring approximately 75 inches in length, weighing 185 pounds, and appearing generally consistent with the stated age of 46 years.

The body is cold and unembalmed with slowly declining rigor. Pronounced unblanching lividity is present on the lateral posterior of the body in the regions of the heels, legs, back, arms and is pinkish in color. Purplish lividity is also present on the posterior of the neck.

The scalp is covered by short, brown hair, averaging 10 cm in length. The body hair is male and average.

The skull is symmetric. The eyes are open, and the irises appear to be brown. This corresponds with information obtained from the victim's records. Pupils are asymmetrically dilated and slightly cloudy.

The teeth are natural and well maintained. The anterior chest is of normal contour and is intact.

The abdomen is flat with visible wounds, and the pelvis is intact. The external genitalia is male and unremarkable, and there is no evidence of injury.

The back is symmetrical and intact. The upper and lower extremities are symmetric, normally developed, and intact. The palms of the hands contain several incised wounds consistent with defensive wounds. The hands and fingernails have traces of blood.

There are no additional residual scars, markings, or tattoos.

Computer, move on to internal examination.

The brain weighs 1,317 grams and is within normal limits. The calvarium and base of the skull are normally configured and have no fractures. The dura is intact, and there is no epidural or subdural hemorrhage.

The skeletal system is unremarkable and is within normal limits.

The oral cavity shows no lesions. The mucosa is intact, and there are no injuries to the lips, teeth, or gums. There is no obstruction of the airway. The mucosa of the epiglottis, glottis, piriform sinuses, trachea and major bronchi are anatomic. No injuries are seen, and there are no mucosal lesions. The hyoid bone, the thyroid, and the cricoid cartilages are intact. The lungs weigh: right, 358 grams; left 357 grams. The lungs are unremarkable.

The heart weighs 214 grams, and has a normal size and configuration. No evidence of atherosclerosis or gross ischemic changes of recent or remote origin is present.

The mucosa and wall of the esophagus are intact and gray-pink, without lesions or injuries. The gastric mucosa is intact and pink with no injury. No stomach contents are found. The mucosa of the duodenum, jejunum, ileum, colon, and rectum are intact with no injury. The small intestine is ruptured and has multiple lacerations.

The kidneys weigh: left, 109 grams; right, 107 grams. The kidneys are anatomic in size, shape, and location and are without lesions. The pelvic calyceal system and ureters are unremarkable. The urinary bladder contains 8 ml of clear yellow urine.

Genital structures are within normal limits.

Samples of central and peripheral blood, vitreous humor, gastric contents, urine, liver, and bile are submitted for toxicologic analysis.

A sample of right pleural blood has been removed for testing. Routine toxicologic studies were ordered.

Computer, moving on to a description of injuries sustained by Lucas Warrington.

There is a stab wound on the medial abdomen in the umbilical region, approximately 8cm superior to the navel. The wound is slit-like and measures 28mm in length. Depth of the wound is approximately 52mm.

It is my opinion that this is a fatal injury.

There is a stab wound on the abdomen in the umbilical region, approximately 5cm superior and 2.5cm lateral to the navel. The wound is slit-like and measures 33mm in length. Depth of the wound is approximately 64mm.

It is my opinion that this is a fatal injury.

There is a stab wound on the abdomen in the umbilical region, approximately 5cm lateral to the navel. The wound is slit-like and measures 34 mm in length. Depth of the wound is approximately 68mm.

It is my opinion that this is a fatal injury.

There is a stab wound on the abdomen in the umbilical region, approximately 6cm lateral to the navel. The wound is slit-like and measures 36mm in length. Depth of the wound is approximately 91mm.

It is my opinion that this is a fatal injury.

There is a stab wound on the abdomen in the umbilical region, approximately 5.75cm superior and 4.5cm lateral to the navel. The wound is slit-like and measures 38mm in length. Depth of the wound is approximately 82mm.

It is my opinion that this is a fatal injury.

There is a cutting or incised wound on the palmar surface of the right hand at the base of the index finger. The wound is 2cm in length. Depth of the wound is approximately 1.25cm.

It is my opinion that this is a non-fatal perimortem injury compatible with a defense wound.

There is a cutting or incised wound on the palmar surface of the right hand just proximal to the web of the thumb. The wound is 1.25cm in length. Depth of the wound is approximately .5cm.

It is my opinion that this is a non-fatal perimortem injury compatible with a defense wound.

Computer, move on to Laboratory data.

Regarding cerebrospinal fluid culture and sensitivity, gram stain is unremarkable and there has been no culture grown after 72 hours.

Regarding cerebrospinal fluid bacterial antigens, all tests returned negative results.

Toxicology screening has returned a positive result for ethanol though this result is on the lowest end of the scale. Cross referencing with samples previously removed from the victim’s stomach would correlate with the consumption of wine. No other drugs were present in screening.

Computer, move on to final findings. It is my opinion that based on body temperature and rigor and livor mortis, the approximate time of death was between 6pm and midnight.

Immediate cause of death is presumed to be exsanguination due to multiple stab wounds consistent. Overall, most of the wounds suggest a single-edged blade. The injuries sustained were predominantly fatal injuries consistent with the cause of death being homicide.”

Nim lapsed into silence for a moment as she reread through the transcribed notes before she spoke again. “Computer, end recording and complete autopsy results for Lieutenant Lucas Warrington. Deliver autopsy results to Lieutenant Commander Andromeda Lightfeather, Commander Bianca Caselli and Fleet Captain William Hood.”

“Acknowledged.”

Reaching up, Nim tapped her commbadge. “Lieutenant D’Aramitz, please report to sickbay as soon as possible.”
