Mission:
New Faces and Terror Beyond
Location: Kyle's Quarters
IC: Kyle had spent the last few hours relaxing following a hefty regime of gym and cardio. A shower cleaned him off and a decent meal kept him going but something was lacking.
Using his table computer he opened a link to the one person that stood out in his mind. =^= Charlotte it's Kyle, if you are not busy I have a selection of movies and munchies if you are interested? =^=
=^= I would love to watch a movie with you. I'm off duty soon so I'll see you in an hour if that's okay? =^=
=^= Sure, hour it is. =^= It gave Kyle time to get everything ready and maybe a quick tidy up of the otherwise spartan room since he didn't have much to fill it with yet. Dressed comfortably he made sure drinks were chilled, finger food was ready, plates and napkins by the plenty.
After her shift was over, she ran back to her quarters, showered and dressed in civilian clothes. She was excited to be with Kyle. She walked to Kyle's quarters and rang the chime.
"It's open." Kyle called out as he was just putting the last of the things down on the table in front of the wall mounted screen. "Hey." Standing upright with a smile.
Charlie walked in, "Hey yourself." She walked up to him and gave him a hello kiss, "I am so glad that you invited me. I could really use the relaxation." She was very talkative for some reason, "Did I tell you what happened?" She didn't take a breath, "Commander Bawden, you know, he is going to be out of commission for a while so he called me in and he wants ME...to take over while he is out. I thought that I was going to faint. Can you believe it? He could have chosen anyone else but he didn't. I was so nervous that the other members in my department wouldn't respect me or be upset because they thought that they should've been chosen instead but they were very respectful...to me. Who would've thunk? Of course nothing major as happened but if it does, then it all is on me if something goes wrong. Oh my, what if there is a major event?" She was talking a mile a minute, not even realizing it. "I mean, it could turn into a disaster and then what?" She was all nervous again.'
"Or...you could do amazingly well, earn yourself a promotion and one day sitting behind his desk calling the shots." Kyle spoke after his momentary flutter following the kiss. "Just remember the little guys on your road to greatness."
"You're so right." She kissed him again, "See, you are exactly what I need when I get like this, someone who can bring me back down to...Earth." She chuckled, "You know what i mean." She finally took a breath and exhaled, "So, what movie are we going to watch. I like all genre of movies...in case you needed to know."
A little weak at the knees with Charlie in his arms being gifted with kisses from her. "Well, can't have the power going to you're head. You know what they say. Power corrupts, absolute power corrupts absolutely." He smiled. "Besides, I like to limit corruptions to one a day if possible."
He looked down at the table at the array of movies. "I have a variety because I didn't know what you liked."
"I see that." She rummaged through a few and pulled out two, "What are you in the mood for? Comedy? Or romance?"
"Romance." Kyle almost blushed feeling his cheeks heat up slightly. "Would you like a drink?" He offered.
Charlie smiled, "Yes please. Iced tea if possible." She could tell that he was still slightly awkward while in her presence. She hoped that it would pass and that he'd begin to feel more comfortable.
Kyle went to the replicator and fetched two drinks then returned to the sofa that awaited them in front of the monitor. "Here you are." He placed her iced tea in front of her before activating the monitor and watch it scroll a list of available romance movies available. "So what would you like to watch?" He split the list to scroll down both sides of the monitor so that the font was bigger and easier to read from where they were.
There were a bunch of oldies that had lasted for hundred of years, one of which was called The Lake House from the 21st century. They just didn't make movies like that anymore. Charlie loved 21st century movies but wasn't sure if he did. She took a chance and pointed to the movie, "How about The Lake House? I know it's really old but it really is a good one."
"Sure." Kyle took a seat and selected the movie of choice. "Now, is there anything we need, bathroom, munchies, extra drinks before it starts?" The marine in him appearing, evident that he'd been party to a few gatherings of the guys for R@R.
Charlie thought for a moment, "Well, we definitely need popcorn. What is a movie with out popcorn, right? And as for drinks, I'm fine with this one." She smiled at him, "Unless, there is something else that you'd rather have."
"No no, this is fine." A quick trip to the replicator and a large bowl of popcorn was made. Sitting then next to her bowl in lap the movie started.
