What The Eyes See

Mission: Not All Changes Are Welcome.
Location: Ready Room.

Ra watched the doors close behind Commander Bawden and Ra felt for the man. He'd been dealt a tough hand and respected the effort Mark put in to play it. The road ahead would not be easy for the Commander as Ra noticed Mark beating himself up over what happened. It reminded him of his own moment in a similar situation many years ago, it's never easy and never gets easier. Now Ra wanted to see Major Snyder, she was on board the freighter and saw much, he only hoped it would yield to him answers or hints at what happened that might shed some light on his next moves.

Sam pulled her hair behind her ears as she made her way to the Bridge, it was expected the Captain would want to see her because she was on board the freighter. The abduction of the team gnawed at her, as the away team leader the safety and wellbeing of the team fell to her and she felt she failed. The worst part was not knowing what was happening to her team if they were still alive or not, the ordeals they had to face, the threats. She arrived at the Bridge and saw the back of Commander Bawden entering another lift on the other side of the Bridge and made a mental note to check in with him later to see if he was ok. Standing before the doors to the Captain's Ready Room she took a breath to calm herself and lifted her hand to press the chime.

"Come." Ra knew the Major was outside, he'd called to see only two so far and he'd already seen the Commander. "Major, please." His hand out to the chairs, in the same manner, he had the Commander."

"If it's alright, I'll stand. I've been crawling through small spaces, sitting awaiting rescue and I'm sore from it." Sam tried to answer nicely but she did indeed ache from the ordeal. "Thank you though."

"Major, can you tell me what you saw on the freighter?" Ra asked, just as he had asked the Commander he now asked the Major hoping for answers, hints, observations that might help him plan his course of action.

Not sure where to begin Sam sighed, it was hard to explain what she saw to any measure of context that might seem helpful but knew she had to try. She recounted for the Captain the moment she left the Agincourt with the away team, to the point she split with RJ to head to separate ends of the ship hoping to glean some kind of clues from the ship's computer, hoping that RJ would be able to restore some power to the ship's computers. "Maybe if we stayed together things might have been different."

"Maybe you too would be captive." Ra countered.

Knowing the point was a fair one she continued telling of the problems with communications they had, areas of the ship that seemed to block signals, parts vented to space, others with signs of a fight. The exact start of the fight was not initially noticed until the shock waves were felt, it was then that Sam said she tried to reach Engineering when attempts to contact the section failed. Sam explained that's when she noticed something was really wrong when she discovered RJ and her team were missing.

Ra doubted that RJ was dead, captured true but dead no. A Starfleet officer was valuable, ransom worthy. "By the time you reached a signal permitting zone, the battle was over?"

"I got back to the beam in point and found a viewport. I could see the Agincourt adrift, a debris field around it. That's when I saw our fighters come into view. The Barham was not far behind them." Sam explained it was painful in a way to see what she di. The Agincourt, a mighty warrior built for combat adrift and beaten. It felt almost marine-like in a way.

"Very well." Ra interjected before Sam could add more. "I'd like a complete report after you get checked over by Sickbay. Until we know more I will plan our next step. I've been in contact with the local government, I am hopeful they will provide additional information to track down those responsible."

"Understood Captain." Sam didn't feel like getting poked and prodded but it was pointless to argue and it would give her time to write a report in the meantime. "Sir, if I may ask. How is the ship?"

"It will be down for a while, I am waiting for a complete report from Engineering as we speak. It will serve again, in time." Ra answered. Not all was lost, but a start had to be made somewhere.

"Understood. Thank you." Sam left, bound for Sickbay and a Padd.
