It felt good feeling the warm tropical air brush her wet skin as she sat on the surfboard, straddling it. This was going to be her final run as could see her mate watching their daughter play in the sand with the other children as their parents were also out on their board waiting for the next wave.
The easy banter between them, let her mind drift back to her childhood days when all she had to care about was the school, surfing, friends and a part time job as most of her allowance went into saving up for university, the latest in fashion, and entertainment when she could stay out late which fell on the weekends.
A yell went up, drawing her back to reality, as swell was spotted heading towards shore. She smiled and turned her board to begin the furious paddling to get up to speed to catch the wave.
"Let grandma have this one!" A nearby young surfer yelled out as he smiled in her direction and pointing at her, getting a laugh out of his buddies.
"Show him up, Samma!!" A friend of Her's son yelled out to her as she felt the board speed up and lift as swell caught her giving her that extra momentum to begin the stand up on the board.
She rode the crest as the wave form and shot down the face of the wave to begin zigzag across the wave. She felt the thrill of the ride rushing through her as shifted her weight to have better control of the board as the wave began to curl majestically over her forming the 'Pipe' that a lot of surfers tend to get wiped out.
.....
Sat on the beach S'er'in'e was burying his Daughter in sand. Normally such a thing would be frowned upon and yet S'er'in'e had crafted her an inclined backrest, a little valley for her tail and a 12 to 16 inch deep hole in which to lay in. Using his own frame to shield her from the sun he started to cover her in the sand almost encasing her in it. He patted it down, leaving from the shoulders up uncovered. There was a towel under her which he could use if needed to lift her from the hole entirely.
He grabbed a chilled water and using a straw offered her a sip to keep her cool. "A drink for the young lady?" S'er'in'e asked his half-buried daughter in her sand encasement.
Mariah gladly took the drink and slurped noisily. A soft purr emanated from her as she let out a soft sigh of delight and relief.
Letting out panicked, "Meowwwerrr!" Eyes widening as she pointed out at the ocean, "Momma!" Sitting up, letting some of the sand tumble off her. "No seee!" Eyes wide, staring at the wave collapsing that hid Momma from view.
......
Samanthia scrunched in her stance to give herself room from the wave curling around her, forming the Pipe. Now all she had to reach the exit at the ends of the collapsing wave.
~~ To bad they can't see me! ~~ Knowing full well they knew she was within the Pipe, waiting to see whether she wiped out or not.
The air behind her was felt rushing towards open ends, pushing her along with the momentum she had as she made small cuts up and down the wave to help with the speed to escape from being tossed about when the wave collapsed.
With inches to spare, she shot out into daylight and straighten up to wave at those watching intently for her appearance. Either to help or cheer. This time it was the cheers that greeted her ears as she gave the wave, signaling she was fine. before riding the surfboard towards shore and her waiting family.

S'er'in'e shifted a little so that she would better be able to see the sea and the waves behind him. He wasn't sure where Samanthia was right at the moment as there were many people around him and in the water. He doubted she was far but then just as the wave crashed a familiar sight was making its way towards them on the board. "There she is." S'er'in'e spoke pointing her out for Mariah.
Maraih smiled at seeing her mother wave and then turned her board towards shore. "Meow," contently, laying back against the sand backrest.
Samanthia lowered herself to the board and paddled rest of the way into shore as there were a lot of people enjoying the water closer to the beach. She rolled off the board, standing up in waist deep water to guide her board as she walked towards the sandy beach.
Picking up her board as people got out of her way so they wouldn't be hit by her surfboard as she made her towards her family with a bid relaxed smile.
"Momma!" Mariah yelled her girl like squeal of delight, watching Samanthia plant the board in the sand to provide more shade to her daughter. She smiled at S'er'in'e as she moved next to him, kneeling next to him with water glistening off her hair and skin.
"Hey kitten," Samanthia gave Mariah aa soft pat on her head as she leaned against S'er'in'e. "Having a relaxed time, Love?" looking up at him.
"My Mate." S'er'in'e smiled, he was genuinely please to see Samanthia smile, a smile that was happy, relaxed, without thought of work or finances or the bar.... she looked...free. This one woman was his was the sun he orbited, she meant everything to him and whats more...she bore a daughter. "Did you enjoy yourself out there?" He asked looking at the hole vacated by Mariah.
"Immensely." Samanthia looked back at the darkening ocean as the sun edged towards the horizon. "I've always enjoyed riding the waves. Brings good memories of family, friends..." Looking at S'er'in'e, "and being able to share it with my own family." Voice soft with warmth as she hugged Mariah who had crawled onto her lap, while snuggling with S'er'in'e. "Maybe I'll teach you how ride the waves." Getting a mischievous glint in her eyes as she looked at him again.
As Mariah snuggled up against the two of them, yawning widely as she had a fun running about the beach, wading in the warm water, building sand mounds that looked like partially like bucket shaped packed sand together. She yawned widely, showing a bit of sharp white teeth momentary. She settled down, eyes closing as her catlike ears were still perked listening to her parent's voices.
"I recall the last time you attempted such a task with me and water. It did not end well." He replied though countered with. "However, seeing you smile, a soften smile as to what you would normally with me, a smile of freedom and deep enjoyment was worth the heat of coming here." Looking down at the sleepy daughter he smiled. "It seems she tired herself." Which meant perhaps a peaceful night's rest for the two adults.
Samanthia gave a soft laugh, remembering as Mariah's ears twitched at the sound of the soft laughter. Mariah's opened her eyes a bit, then closed them, giving a soft purr of contentment.
"Good memories..." Samanthia spoke just above a whisper. Then a bit louder. "I gotta return the board. Meet back at the vehicle." Shifting Mariah to S'er'in'e as she stood up to go return the rented surfboard.
"As you wish." S'er'in'e spoke as he watched his Mate leave with the board to return it. "Come little one, let's pack up." S'er'in'e packed up the few toys and towels into the bag then with his daughter in one arm, the back in the other hand he walked back towards the transport.
