Some Grudges, Are Harder To Ignore.

Mission: Let That Be Your Last
Location: Conference Room - Tri Nation Chambers of Deliberations.
Timeline: Current

Another round of discussions has concluded with the three delegates failing to reach a consensus on any issue, despite the fact that several crucial points could have been mutually advantageous. The Caitian began to sense that, although his presence was requested, it was becoming increasingly unnecessary. S'iraa recognized that some resentments are more challenging to overlook than others, and the scars of war are not easily forgiven. Nevertheless, there was ample blame to distribute, which only served as fuel for yet another impasse.

Minister Ith'ix appeared determined to solidify her stance, portraying herself as a victim of Chancellor Vixothor's people and their harsh actions. Regardless of the blame accepted, the offers made, or the gestures extended, it seemed that Minister Ith'ix was unwilling to show any leniency.

"Delegates, I implore you to listen." S'iraa's voice, though initially drowned out by the cacophony of others, managed to cut through just enough to command silence and focus the room's attention on him. "At our first meeting, you welcomed me to facilitate the discussions taking place here. While we must acknowledge the past, we cannot allow it to hinder the possibility of peace. This planet has suffered greatly from war, leaving deep scars, yet the three of you are present today because, in some small way, you believe in the potential for peace. There is no shortage of blame to assign, and many actions have been taken, but if that energy were redirected towards fostering peace to prevent further devastation, wouldn’t that be a goal worth pursuing?

The silence hung heavily over everyone.

"Your territories can be restored. What has been tainted or contaminated can be made safe again, allowing for farming or construction. A structure is merely that, a structure—something built, but the lives of people are far more valuable than anything else. If you allow conflict to prevail, those lives are endangered or, even worse, lost. If no lives remain, who will carry your memory or... what will be remembered of you by others?" S'iraa went on.

"On the Homeworld, my people were not always as... refined as we are today. Lands were seen as prizes to be fought over, resources to be seized, and it was nearly too late when we understood that with countless lives lost, we had almost driven several provinces to extinction. The caste system we have established now nurtures the finest among us—warriors, scientists, healers, leaders, and spiritual figures. We now coexist in harmony, our collective efforts aimed at improving the entire planet. There is nothing preventing the same growth and healing from occurring here, if you can set aside differences and the past... but not forget them, just set them aside for a moment."

"Such bold claims from an outsider," Minister Ith'ix remarked, her voice cutting through the atmosphere in the room. "Yet you overlook the fact that the source of much of the devastation inflicted upon this world is seated right across from me."

"Indeed, Minister, Chancellor Vixothor, since my arrival and discussions with the three of you, it has been acknowledged that his people initiated the war. Yet, he stands here advocating for peace. As I mentioned, there is culpability on all sides, but he is present, willing, and making an effort. You remain here because you believe in a superior alternative to warfare; there is always a preferable option to conflict if the leaders are open to it."

King Zwon'taa's synthesized voice followed. "Our world cannot endure another war. Our lands are tainted, our water is polluted, and even our raw materials are compromised."

Chancellor Vixothor then responded. "The Admiral is correct; there is blame to be shared, but we established this place as a neutral ground, a sanctuary of safety and equality, where mediations can occur fairly for everyone."

"I am not suggesting that the journey ahead will be easy, but the road toward something meaningful, something honorable, rarely is. Each of you possesses unique skills—builders, scientists, warriors. Instead of concentrating on military might, weapons, and ammunition, why not redirect that focus toward infrastructure, soil restoration, and cultural and social advancement?" S'iraa stated. "I am not requesting that you grow fond of one another or even shake hands. I am urging you to prioritize this planet and all its inhabitants, giving them a chance for a better existence."

A heavy silence followed, thick enough to be palpable.

S'iraa couldn't help wonder if Minister Ith'ix's goal had shifted from peace, to justice. She seemed bent on making sure to hammer the nail of the past that little bit deeper into the coffin of history while sealing Chancellor Vixothor within it. Ever point that was raised was countered, every suggested abashed, even points that benefited her people more than the others was cast aside.
