No Respect

Charlie took a deep breath, then let it out. She looked around the office and sighed. Commander Bawden had been out for a long time now and a handful of her fellow security officers were still making the situation difficult. She swore that they were doing it on purpose. As she had predicted, they weren't sure why she was chosen to head Security while Bawden was out and it caused a little bit of friction. She decided that she was just going to have to let it roll off her shoulder.

Charlie needed to get some things done, one of which was to find out why two of her fellow shipmates have been late for their shifts three days in a roll. She went looking for them but she didn't have to search long as they were sitting with each other, just talking and doing nothing else. She walked up to them, "I would like to discuss a few things with the both of you in my office." She stood there as she waited for their answer. They just ignored her. She spoke up again, "Is there something wrong with your hearing? Get up and let's go." Once again, they ignored her.

Charlie stood there, her foot tapping and her arms now crossed, "What is your problem?" She raised her voice and then sat on the table, blocking their view from each other. The guy sighed, "Look, we're trying to have a conversation here. Do you mind?" The girl giggled as if was some big joke.

Charlie stood back up, "Yes, I do mind. If you don't get off your arses, I'm going to do it for you." They both sighed as they looked at each other then at her, "Alright already. What's up with the attitude? Geez."

Charlie stood behind them as she followed them to her office. The conversation wasn't kind. By the time Charlie was done with them, they were not laughing anymore.

Charlie sat back in her chair and smiled. She realized what she had to do to change the way the security crew look at her.
