Marine Plans Take Shape.

Mission: The Hand That Rocks The Babe
Location: Marine Holodeck
Timeline: Preparing For Deployment.

The marine deck buzzed with activity as preparations for the planetary deployment accelerated. Holographic displays filled the room, projecting detailed maps of the future hospital complex, surrounding terrain, shuttle approach corridors, and the countless security considerations that came with establishing a major Starfleet presence on the surface of Velis III.

At the center of it all stood Colonel Jack Frost.

Arms folded behind his back, the Marine officer studied the growing tactical overlay with the same intensity he would have given a battlefield operation. In many ways, this wasn't much different.

The enemy simply happened to be a virus instead of an armed force.

A familiar voice broke through his concentration.

"You're already planning for the worst-case scenario." Major Samantha Snyder stepped alongside him, carrying a PADD loaded with deployment schedules and personnel assignments.

Frost didn't look away from the display. "I always plan for the worst-case scenario."

Snyder smirked. "Fair."

The holographic map expanded, revealing the proposed layout of the field hospital. At its center stood the primary treatment facility, surrounded by isolation wards, emergency shelters, supply depots, power generation units, and landing zones. Around all of it, highlighted in amber, was the proposed security perimeter.

"Commodore Marshall wants recommendations finalized before the first construction teams deploy," Snyder said.

Frost nodded. "Then let's make sure we're giving him something that'll work."

He reached forward, enlarging the outer perimeter.

"I want three security rings."

Snyder raised an eyebrow.

"Three?"

"Three." He pointed toward the outermost boundary.

"First ring is observation and early warning. Patrols, sensor towers, motion detection grids. I want eyes on everything moving within ten kilometers of the complex."

Snyder nodded while making notes.

"Mobile patrols?"

"Continuous."

"Day and night?" Frost gave her a look.

She grinned.

The Colonel moved his hand inward.

"Second ring becomes controlled access." The display highlighted several routes leading toward the hospital. "Pedestrian screening stations, decontamination facilities."

"Medical personnel won't love that."

"No," Frost agreed. "But they'll love an uncontrolled infection breach even less."

"Fair point."

The third ring appeared around the hospital itself. "This is our hard security zone." The hologram shifted to red. "No unauthorized entry. No exceptions."

Snyder studied the layout carefully. "You think things could get that bad?"

Frost was silent for a moment. Below them, millions were suffering.

Infrastructure had collapsed. Governments were barely functioning. Desperate people made desperate decisions. "I think we're about to build the most valuable piece of real estate on the entire planet."

Snyder slowly nodded. That answer was enough. The Major moved to another display. "What about patrol composition?"

Frost considered it. "Mixed teams."

"Marines and security officers?" Sam asked.

"Exactly." He zoomed in on the perimeter roads. "Marines provide response capability. Security handles civilian interaction. Different skill sets."

Snyder smiled. "You're becoming diplomatic in your old age."

"I'll deny that if asked."

The Major laughed. The tactical display shifted again, this time showing the landing facilities.

Four shuttle pads. Two heavy cargo zones. Emergency evacuation corridors. Frost pointed toward the eastern side of the complex. "That's where I want the rapid-response detachment. Closest to everything." His finger traced several possible approach routes.

"If something goes wrong, I need personnel who can reinforce checkpoints, secure medical facilities, or assist evacuations within minutes." Frost continued.

Snyder entered the recommendation.

"How many Marines?"

"Initially?" Jack asked. He thought for a moment. "Two companies."

"That's a lot of personnel."

"It's a city-sized hospital." Jack countered.

She couldn't argue with that.

Which meant security had to be ready before the first patient ever arrived.

Snyder finalized the report and transmitted it directly to Commodore Marshall.

"Recommendations submitted."

Frost looked one final time at the holographic representation of the hospital.

The defenses.

The checkpoints.

The patrol routes.

The response teams.

Every detail designed not for combat, but to protect those trying to save lives.

"Let's hope it's enough." For Jack though, had to be enough because Acacia was going to be there.
