The End Of An Era.

Hi All,
It's been a while since I wrote one of these.
So as many of you may have read, the story of Admiral S'iraa has come to a close.
S'iraa for me was my very first character starting in April of 1998 aboard the Akira Class U.S.S. Atlantis as an Operations Officer. Over time he's grown, developed, changed uniforms from yellow to red, rising to the rank of Admiral back in my Bravo Fleet days when appointed as it's commanding officer.
Some of you have been around for much of the characters time, for others the Admiral was the first encounter but for me it's been a journey of growth and seeing imagination develop from what was originally a GCSE exam time filler to my most cherished character.
Closing that chapter wasn't easy, it was something I dwelled on for a long time, hesitated for even longer. The post 'An End To Peace' took 6 weeks to write because it wasn't an easy one for me to do and thank you to Ferrand (CAG) & Victoria (CEO) for contributing to it.
So why close the chapter?
I'm sure most people will understand the comfort of the known, for me S'iraa was easy to play but it felt over time more and more like a fall-back measure instead of actively trying to develop anything. The easy and comfortable choice is pleasant and stress free but where is the challenge? As time went on I wanted more, S'iraa started to stagnate, become bland as a character and as comfortable as it was to keep hold of him, I also felt my enjoyment of writing was diminishing. Comfortable yes, exciting...no.
I knew if I just shelved S'iraa that the temptation would be there to revive him later down the line. I didn't want to do that. The S'iraa character mean a great deal to me, but if I was to make writing enjoyable again, I had to do something for myself. I needed a clean and effective break.
So that is what I did. I'd like to thank everyone that was a part of S'iraa's history, interacted with him, served with and for one character...nearly got eaten by......Hhmmm good times.
I hope my new character; Commodore Lucian Marshall will bring back to me the enjoyment of writing again....I would say he won't try to put people in harms way but.....I won't. What is duty and honour of the uniform without a sprinkling of potential death round every corner.
I do have 1 or two more posts in the works with people to wrap this mission up and then I will begin the new mission and bring the Commodore on board.
Kind Regards
Steve
