Mission: New Faces and Terror Beyond
Location: Bridge. U.S.S. Dreadnought

Jack sat on the Bridge bored out of his mind, he was a Marine, not a Bridge Officer. He joined the Marines to avoid things like this yet here he was. He couldn't blame Ayla because of what happened, he actually felt sorry for her but thought perhaps they needed space before people flooded them with condolences. He knew Mark well enough to know the man just needed space, let him have his moment and when he was ready Mark would let people know.

Captain Havrelli was in his Ready Room doing what ever it was that Captains did on ships this size. Jack felt the more he intercepted from the Captain meant the Captain went undisturbed.

"Sir, I have something on sensors entering the system."

"Something?" Jack rotated in the chair. "Hardly a informative report Ensign."

"I know sir but its trying to hide, its following solar currents through the system and planets to mask its approach. I only saw it because of a radiation deflection. I would guess they are trying to stay hidden to get a more suited approach vector."

"Show me." Jack spoke looking at the view screen. He could see what ever it was on the otherside of the planet seemingly on a course for the 2nd planet in the system which would put in a prime attack vector off the ships starboard aft.

Ra left his Ready Room and walked onto the Bridge to see the Colonel standing up to meet him. "Report."

"Sensors have picked up an unknown contact, by the looks of it shes trying to enter the system undetected." Jack had left the plot up on the viewscreeen. "As you can see she's trying to flank us."

"Do we have any sensor probes in the system?" Ra asked hatching a plan.

"No sir." Jack answered wondering what the Captain was thinking.

"Launch two probes to orbit this planet, then launch two at the remaining three. Full sensor data recording and relay back to the ship. Make it look like we are scanning the planets." Ra ordered as he watched the data stream on the viewscreen.

"What about the away teams?" Jack spoke knowing his entire department was down there....without him.

"Assuming she keeps to current speed to avoid us, how long would it be before it is in an attacking posture?" Ra spoke to the Ensign manning tactical.

"If she continues as current, 4 hours and 17 minutes." The Ensign spoke.

"Let's not tip our hand yet, we don't even know what it is." Ra continued to watch. "Have we been sending any transmissions to the surface?"

"Yes sir, every 20 minutes with updates and sensor feeds." Jack replied.

"Good, in the next interval inform them what we have found, permit shuttle flights for another 3 hours. I want the CAG and his flight team back on board and in their fighters, have trained shuttle pilots take over ferry duties." Ra prepared the next stage of his plans. Ra looked at Jack. "I plan to deploy the fighters when what ever that is is closer, I don't want to leave where we are but I dont want to just sit here and do nothing. Our sensor probes may appear to be scanning the planets but if they really are trying to hide they will divert to avoid them, or destroy them. In which case they have revealed that they want to stay hidden, they are armed and not likely to answer questions when confronted."

"But in exchange?" Jack asked.

"A few sensor probes and the knowledge that something is there to cause the losses. If they really want to remain hidden they will have to flee and try again later." Ra answered.

Jack had to admit it was a simple plan, simple was often the best because less issues later but considering they had time it allowed them to prepare for a lot. "Aye Captain."

"Inform me when CAG gets back on board, I want to brief him." Ra spoke heading back to his Ready Room. "You have the Bridge Colonel."
