Mission:
New Faces and Terror Beyond
Location: Sickbay / Rest of the ship
Xavier wrapped up the last of the issues of the day, the wounded had been treated and the dead stored in stasis until collection. Xavier had to autopsy three of the dead, some for religious or racial reasons couldn't be touched and that spared yet another difficult problem. The causes of death varied from blunt force trauma, stomping and stab wounds. Full reports were made to the Captain as required and Xavier left to freshen up in his quarters before meeting BJ for the tour.
BJ finished up her shift and headed back to her quarters. Right now, all she wanted was a hot cup of Raktajino laced with a nice stiff drink from her bar but she remembered that Xav had offered to take her on a tour. Putting the drink off at the moment, she headed into the sonic shower to get herself cleaned and ready for when he showed up.
When she finished, she dressed in a white tank top that bared her midriff, a black leather mini skirt, and a pair of walking shoes. Once she was dressed, she headed out to the living room to wait the handsome Medical Doctor and looked forward to what he had to offer.
Xavier headed out after changing into a nice shirt and pants set up. Some aftershave for the lady and a bit of a skip to his stride. BJ had brought out things in him at first he was afraid of, but confidence was something he welcomed. Not confidence as a Doctor but that in himself.
***Door Chime***
He waited after straightening himself out.
"Enter," BJ called while she mixed a Samarian Sunset. She tapped the glass sharply, a swirl of orange and gold luminescence appeared in the liquid and streamed out to fill the glass, until the entire drink turned a dull non-luminescent gold.
"You know...it's a cardinal sin to drink......alone." Xavier said stepping in through the doors. Wow, dressed like that was like a goddess. Incredibly sexy and no two ways about it. "Um..." He chuckled. "You look incredible."
She looked at him and smiled as she put a hand on her hip while she held the drink. "If I had known you were going to be here so soon, handsome, I would have made one for you, too. Would you like one?" she asked as she moved over to give him a kiss.
Like a warp core breach his heart exploded, he felt very warm all over and cracked a blush. "Actually, why not." The continued. "It would have been rude to keep the lady waiting so I made haste."
BJ smiled and handed him her drink. "Then give me a moment and I'll make one for myself, then we can go out and paint the ship red."
Xavier patiently waited though his eyes would betray him by taking in every detail from head to toe. He'd already seen her naked from before but this attire just held the moment right now, just right.
She made a second Sunset and tapped the glass to watch the liquid swirl and change color once again. When it mixed, she moved back over to him and raised her glass to his. "To exploring forever and enjoying it every step of the way," she said.
Xavier raised his glass and drank though not taking his eyes of hers. "So, where would you like to start on our tour?" He offered letting her pick and working from there.
BJ took a sip of her and smiled. "Well, you're the one who is the expert on the ship," she said. "Why don't you pick a place to start?"
"Alright then." Xavier finished his drink and put it on the table. "Come on then." Xavier knew where to take her first, Ten Forward. He stood by the door waiting.
She raised an eyebrow when he set the glass on the table, but didn't comment as she finished her own drink and moved to set it in the recycler. "I'm ready," she said as she moved over and activated the door.
Xavier followed her out. "First stop, Ten Forward." Where most of the action is and pretty sure where security could be needed a few times a week.
"What's the scene like there?" BJ asked him as she locked her quarters down.
"Life of the ship on a given day, larger than what you might expect. Friendly, chatty atmosphere. Good food too." Now came a difficult choice. "Um..so we are off duty....would it be too forward of me if I...put my arm around you?"
"Considering what we've already done," she said as she looked over at him. "I don't think there'd be any harm in it. So it's the life of the ship, but you did say Security was needed there a few times a week. Is it a problem?"
It was a welcome relief and when his hand actually made it round her, it felt really good. Not because of his hand on her skin but it felt good, natural and needed. It did wonders for his confidence.
"A few fights tend to break out. Some small scuffles but a few have kicked off needing two medical teams." He answered.
BJ nodded and started to make a contingency plan, then stopped. "You know what? I'm off duty at the moment and we're supposed to be having fun, right? So let's go there and have some fun." She smiled and put an arm around him, but stopped short of going to his other hip. Instead, she rested her hand on his left butt cheek and gave a squeeze.
Xavier smiled feeling her hand on his backside. He felt warm inside, it was early days yet but things were going well. "Turbolifts this way." He said directing them.
She walked beside of him and looked him over; he was a handsome man but she had to wonder about what he thought of her choice of profession. "Xav, does it bother you that I'm one of the people who send people to people in your profession?"
"No. We all know the risks when we put on the uniform." Xavier said holding on to her. "The captain sends us into danger, we react to it...well you do and I am left to pick up the pieces."
"I always try my best not to kill or seriously main a person," BJ said as they entered the turbolift. "Some people don't get us a choice, but I still try. I had one young Cardassian strap a bomb to himself a few years ago and tried to attack a diplomat. It was a hard choice, but it had already been taken out of my hands the moment he built the bomb. I ended up vaporizing him. I still see his face from time to time in my dreams."
"Even Doctors lose people, the worst are children." Xavier spoke as together they stepped off the turbolift. "It's just up here."
"We often have to make the best of a situation we find ourselves in." He concluded.
She gave a nod as she stepped off the turbolift beside of him and removed her hand from his butt to circle his waist. "Which is why fights often break out in Ten Forward. People come to forget, get drunk and then let everything out in the form of a fist, a mouth that doesn't know how to shut up and emotions which alcohol frees."
Still wearing the same confident smile he had before he walked them to Ten Forward. "Here it is." He had little doubt her attire would garner some glances but he was the one her arm was around. "Shall we get a drink?"
BJ had to laugh; they had just been talking about what alcohol did, but she did like a good drink. "I don't see why not," she said. "You can introduce me to some people."
Xavier nodded, gathering drinks and introducing key people including the amazing bar tender who was well know for her drink making abilities.
"No, thank you," BJ said as she accepted her drink and looked around. "I don't like drinking on a full stomach. It takes longer to get drunk."
Xavier had showed her the bar, the many many sets of tables and chairs. The boothed area that offer privacy with a view forward. He showed her were the facilities were and the best vantage points to sit if they were available.
"So what do you think?" Turning to face her.
While he was showing her around, BJ had casually taken note of places where she wanted to put some surveillance equipment to give Security an edge. "I like it," she said as she headed for the booth to take a seat with her drink. "In fact, I love this view."
It was fortunate a booth was free, these were usually the first snapped up. With our backs to the crowd and completely private the stars were our only companions. We could hear them sure but nobody could see us and that made it really nice. "So do I."
She took a sip of her drink and leaned back. "So what's been keeping you here on the ship all this time, Xav?"
"Duty honestly." Able to find it easier to discuss it in some measure of privacy. "In a way I feel I owe it to the Admiral, we had some rough times where he nearly died one moment, I spared him considerable shame when I had to reattach his claws another, kept him stable when his Mate left him." Xavier explained. "In the one hand I have what I've accomplished, in the other what I might. I also consider that its been pretty lonely on board and more than a few times its been difficult, especially with the Bawden's all lovey dovey before recent events." Xavier was not about to admit in any way shape or form that she was the only other woman he'd ever had a sexual relationship with since he was 19.
BJ listened as he talked and related to him to a degree as she sipped her drink. "With as many people as there are on board, I'm surprised that anyone can even remotely feel lonely." She paused to look at him. "There's also a difference between being alone and being lonely. Which one are you, Xav? She asked him.
Xavier paused, sipped his drink and took a breath. "Until you. Both." He answered. "I hope that's not too forward of me." He looked out at the stars with his hands on his lap.
She reached to touch his cheek softly and gave a warm smile. "I don't bite...much, Xav, but I know what it's like. I've spent my life pretty much solo simply for the fact that I could be here today and gone tomorrow. I'm in one of the most dangerous professions....but I want you to know that you don't have to be alone. Not if you don't want to be."
"I don't want to be...." He smile turning his cheek into her hand. He was so glad right now for the privacy afforded by the booth
"Then you aren't," BJ said as she took a sip of her drink. "I still have to wonder why such a handsome man such as yourself is single."
Xavier smiled. "Well when woman's intuition tells you, be a sweetheart and tell me where I was going wrong?" It had been far too long since his last romantic encounter and longer still since his last relationship.
"I wish I could tell you, but I wasn't here, so I have no idea," she told him. "Now if I were to go and conduct a poll among the other females on the station, I might have a better understanding. Is there any that I should start with?"
Xavier laughed again. "BJ I'm a Doctor, most tend to stay away from me unless they are ill, others have a fear of Doctors, some a fear of Sickbay and anything in it. It's a hard thing to stand out against at times." He finished his drink. "Notable males I would guess would be Commander Bawden, Colonel Frost and flyboy Luthar."
"I didn't ask for notable males, Xav," BJ said. "I asked if there were any females that I should ask about you. You know, the bipedal beings that have mammary glands and speak softer."
"No, there isn't anybody, never has since I joined the service." Xavier's voice grew softer.
"Nobody?" she asked, unable to believe it. "Surely there has to have been someone who grabbed your attention between then and now."
"Married or otherwise taken....I can look but not touch, touch but not taste, taste but not swallow as my Father would say. But no, I guess in a way that is my fault dedicating so much of myself to my job, but yeah I guess I've paid for it in otherwise, such as affection." Xavier spoke softly about times past.
BJ listened quietly and her heart went out to the man sitting across from her. "I would say you don't have to worry about that any more," she said as she took a drink. "But....there's something you haven't done yet."
"Oh......what's that?" He asked her toying with his empty glass by slowly rotating it with his fingers
"You haven't asked the right question," she told him.
Xavier looked at the stars briefly, then at BJ. It was obvious something was on his mind by the way his fingers fidgeted with the glass. "Can I ask you something......" The word seemed to hang in the air. "We um, well, you know. You said in Sickbay you don't do casual, so...I was wondering if you wanted to make it more official like..."
He felt like the shy nervous school kid. "Partners, Girlfriend?"
BJ gave a soft laugh at his nervousness, but it only endeared him to her. "That," she said as she leaned across the table to give him a soft kiss. "Is the right answer and yes, I will."
Xavier almost turned red with the sudden rush of excitement at her answer. His hand falling to her bare mid thigh under the table. "Thank you." He spoke with the same grin as before.
She smiled and rested one hand on top of his. "Now for the hard part," she said with a gleam in her eyes. "Fighting off the other guys who are going to be jealous."
"I'm a Doctor, they can't hurt me because they need me to heal wounds and it would be unfortunate if I were to remove something important. They won't harm you because you can lock them up." Xavier joked.
"Ohhh, that's evil," BJ said with a laugh as she finished her drink. "I didn't think you had it in you."
"I'm a Doctor dear, I am ethically bound to do no harm. I can however inflict as much pain as I like." Xavier answered.
"Remind me not to get on your bad side," she said. "Where are we off to next?"
"Holodecks, Hanger Bay, Main Engineering, we probably shouldn't go to the Bridge dressed like this and I'm sure you have already visited your office. Oh and I'll spare you the marine deck." Xavier said thinking about the options.
"I had a brief visit to my office, but someone had ordered me to rest for a day," BJ said with a wink. "Look that that turned out. Engineering? I'm convinced they make up words just to pad reports. Do you have any good holodeck programs or is there an arboretum on the ship?"
"Yes there is an arboretum on board, I'll take you there if you like?" He offered, it had been a while since he'd been there himself but he had heard from others that it held a scenic tranquil about it.
"I'd like that," she said as she came to her feet. "After that, we'll see where the rest of the evening takes us."
Xavier nodded and stood up and slipped past the table to join BJ again then out of Ten Forward. The Arboretum was not far by Turbolift and they would get there quickly. "Just down here and to the left." He pointed out.
"Then come on," BJ said as she took his hand and headed out. "Believe it or not, I try to make it a point to visit arboretums every chance I get. It's like being on a planet again."
It was nice to see someone eager and keen as BJ was around, Sickbay could and would often be a strain on his emotions and BJ just seemed to leap and bound with energy. Taking her hand he followed her. "They can be really nice I hear to just relax in." When he entered he saw...'Current Occupants....0'
She entered with him and looked around as she took in a deep breath and seemed to relax fully. "There's nothing quite like unscrubbed oxygen," she said as she stepped further in. "I can almost believe that we're back home."
Lush grass, stone bridge over a small pond with real fish in it. Trees and bushes it almost felt like the real thing. Rows of flower beds lined the paths people could walk on and almost smell the sweet aroma they gave off. It truly was a sight to behold and one that had to relax any people.
"It's beautiful," BJ said before she looked over at him. "So tell me about yourself outside of the uniform."
Xavier smiled. "I'll show you." Knowing the arboretum had holoemitters he walked a few steps away from BJ. "Computer, Bösendorfer Model 290 Imperial and chair please." Xavier smiled at her then sat. Lifted the lid and started playing 'Close to you.'
She leaned against the piano and listened to him play with her eyes half closed. She let the rhythm resonate and flow through her and smiled. "I think I could get to like this," she said. "I don't know any instruments myself, but you clearly have talent."
"The deeper you dig, the more you learn." Xavier said as the song came to a close. "Not many people know, I've been pretty private for obvious reasons." Xavier spoke. "But, the lady did seem to enjoy it."
"I did," BJ said as she came to her feet again. "I don't see any reason for you to hide a talent like that. Honestly. You should put on a concerto for the crew." She moved around behind him and began to slide her hands over his shoulders.
"I...I don't think I'm ready for that just yet." He said as he leant back against her. He was glad that she liked his music. "Had a lot of spare time to practice."
"You don't think you're ready?" she asked as she began to massage his shoulders, starting on the outside with a slow, deep rolling motion. Her fingers dug in slightly, but not enough to hurt as she tested to see how tense he was. "What would you consider ready, Xav?"
"I've got a way to go yet before I feel ready to play in front of a large gathering." Xavier spoke as he relaxed to her efforts. His mind wondered on how on earth he ended up with someone like her.
"When the time comes, I expect to get a front row seat," BJ said as she moved over his trapezius muscles, still working with a gentle pressure. "In fact, I better get to see you practice for the show."
Xavier turned in the chair placing her between his knees. His hands rested on the backs of her thighs as he looked up. "Only the best for the lady."
She smiled and leaned down to give her a kiss. "I'm no lady, Xav," she said. "But I'm glad that you think of me as one. It really means a lot. So, do you play anything else?"
"I do." He turned around and played another tune. Something softer, gentle and romantic.
BJ listened and watched him as he played, her eyes taking in his long, articulate fingers as they moved over the keys. "Do you know Fever?" she asked him.
"Who doesn't?" Xavier spoke then began to play the song on the keys before him.
She took a breath and leaned over his shoulder while she listened to the music.
"Never know how much I love you
Never know how much I care
When you put your arms around me
I get a fever that's so hard to bear
You give me fever
When you kiss me
Fever when you hold me tight
Fever! in the morning
Fever all through the night
Sun lights up the daytime
Moon lights up the night
I light up when you call my name
And you know I'm gonna treat you right
You give me fever
When you kiss me
Fever when you hold me tight
Fever! in the morning
Fever all through the night
Everybody's got the fever
That is something you all know
Fever isn't such a new thing
Fever started long ago
Romeo loved Juliet
Juliet, she felt the same
When he put his arms around her
He said, "Julie, baby, you're my flame
"Thou giveth fever
"When we kisseth
"Fever with thy flaming youth
"Fever! I'm afire
"Fever, yea, I burn, forsooth."
Cap'n Smith and Pocahontas
Had a very mad affair
When her daddy tried to kill him
She said, "Daddy, oh, don't you dare!
"He gives me fever
"With his kisses
"Fever when he holds me tight
"Fever! I'm his missus
"Daddy, won't you treat him right?"
Now you've listened to my story
Here's the point that I have made
Chicks were born to give you fever
Be it Fahrenheit or Centigrade
They give you fever
When you kiss them
Fever if you live and learn
Fever! till you sizzle
What a lovely way to burn."
Xavier let the song end softly as he had the one prior. "So, do I get front row seats too?, I like hearing you sing. Or this a duo routine now?
BJ shook her head, her long brunette hair swaying. "No chance," she said. "You're lucky I sang at all. I'm strictly amateur."
"Well my quarters are sound proofed and I have a piano there too if you want to practice." Xavier offered, if it was a hobby of hers he wanted to encourage it.
"How does one go about getting their quarters soundproofed?" she asked him. "I don't really sing anywhere other than the shower, though."
"I said I was installing a torture chamber, they must have thought I was telling the truth." Xavier joked. "Joking aside I asked them because of the piano."
"I wonder if I can get one so the officer in the quarters next to mine won't hear the screaming," BJ mused with a gleam in her eyes.
"Just let me know when you play so I can have Sickbay waiting to clean up." Xavier smiled. "So where would you like to go next?" Giving her the freedom of choice.
"How would you be able to have Sickbay waiting when you'd be the one screaming?" she asked him. "Is there a rec center on board?"
Xavier smiled at BJ at her comment about him then nodded. "There are a few actually on a ship this size, was there anything you wanted to see in particular as each kind of has its own thing aside from the others."
"I would ask if there's any areas for orbital skydiving, but I doubt even this magnificent ship has that," BJ said. "So how about a swimming pool or a game room?"
"Swimming pool yes, game room yes. Holodecks for sky diving." Xavier said with a smile after asking the computer to remove the Piano and chair. "Which first?"
"Let's hit the game room," she said. "I doubt you'd appreciate me stripping naked in the pool to go for a dip in front of other people."
"Um no....no I wouldn't." He replied. "I wouldn't mind in private though." His hand out to her to walk her out and towards her next destination.
BJ laughed as she headed out of the Arboretum with him. "You would, wouldn't you?" she asked with a gleam in her eyes. "Does that mean you'd join me for a little skinny dipping later?"
"Since you asked soo nicely." Xavier smiled towards her. The games room was not far, one of many on board a ship of this size. There were some people already present when they walked in, a variety of games were being played across all age groups. "One of the many games rooms."
She looked around as they headed into the room. "Ohhh...they have Dom-Jot," she said, her eyes gleaming. "How are you at gaming, Xav?"
"Terrible, perhaps you can teach me some time." He'd never really had a need for games, books and music yes but being alone for so long he could only play the computer so many times.
"You're in luck," BJ said. "Dom-Jot is really similar to Terran billiards mixed with pinball. It's really a matter of knowing geometry. Once you had that down, the rest falls into place."
"I'll have to take your word on that one." Xavier spoke looking at all the others in attendance. "Not as many as I was expecting." He spoke as he looked around at the other games and people.
"I won't steer you wrong, Xav," she said as she headed over to a Tongo table and raised an eyebrow. "Now Tonga requires a bit of time, patience and the ability to bluff your opponent. I wouldn't recommend it as a beginner."
Xavier chuckled to himself. "I've watched the Tongo championships before, I don't follow or understand it but it does seem a pretty intense game." Glad that she was looking out for his lack of game experience.
BJ gave a smile. "What about Dabo?" she asked. "That's like roulette but a lot more fun. I had a chance to play that before and didn't do too bad. A Ferengi tried to buy me and I cleaned him out for everything he had."
"My pockets don't run that deep. I was late on to the black market organ trading scene you see." Xavier replied with a smile.
She laughed. "My pockets don't run that deep, either, but my tricorder disabled the cheats on the table and evened the playing field. He couldn't call me out with other players at the table, either. That's when he tried to buy me to get me away from the table, but I broke his bank."
"What about me? What about what I'd want to do?" Giving her backside a firm playful grope.
BJ looked at him and smirked. "Not get on my bad side would be a good start," she said.
Woo fair enough. Xavier wondered if he'd gone too far and quickly removed his hand. "So what other games do you play?" Seeing as how there were many around them.
"None, really," she said before she looked down when he removed his hand. "Although you weren't in a bad spot a moment again, Xav. I didn't mind that. It's sort of a disclaimer that I tell people at weird moments, but you did ask what you would want to do."
Xavier had to admit he was still feeling out his limitations and boundaries for lack of a better description. Considering what they had done so far behind closed doors nobody knew or could see, but she was the Chief of Security and even if few others knew that he had to consider her image when out and about with her.
"So," BJ said. "Do we continue to the tour, or do I teach you how to say things in Klingon without a translator?"
"Depends what is being said. Foul language and cursing I doubt would enhance my bedside manner." Xavier joked.
"It depends on whose side of the side of the bed you're talking about," she said with a wink.
"Oh.....Ohhhhhhh." It clicked and then there came the smile. "I think I should learn a few things."
"Qapla!" BJ said with a laugh that shook her frame and especially her chest. "You're getting the hang of it already."
Xavier almost cracked a blush seeing her chest bounce with her laughter. Such a body on her and he couldn't believe his luck. "I'm trying." Definitely trying at that.
"So what's next?" she asked as she watched him watch her chest shake. A mischievous grin crossed her lips and she leaned forward. "You seem distracted, Xavier. Is something making you flustered?"
His face went red, eyes glued to her chest as she leant forward. "Come with me." Taking her hand and leading her quickly out of the rec room.
With a laugh and a smile, BJ headed out with him.
When they got to his Quarters Xavier wasted no time at all. He put her against the wall and straight to the neck with his lips. A doctor had to have talented hands and his hands were no exception. A firm grip on her waist, his knee forced between hers as he used his frame to hold her in place, his chest against hers that had teased him just moments ago.
She brought up her left arm in a deceptive move and placed her forearm against his throat while she pushed off the wall with her right leg. Spinning around, she gave him a push with her right arm and moved close to him to give him a hard, deep kiss while keeping the arm bar against his throat without real pressure.
"So, you like the rough stuff, do you?" BJ purred. "I like you, Xav, but don't surprise me like that. I've hurt people by mistake before, but I knew what we were going to be doing here and I'm more horny than angry."
At first Xavier thought he was about to get royally decked in for his attempt, he understood what she was saying and felt a little silly for even making the attempt. The kiss however put him at ease, more horny than angry topped it off. "Ok. Message received."
She stepped back and took his arm. "Now let's see if we can make the neighbors hear us," she said before she headed for the bedroom.
