Mission: New Faces and Terror Beyond
Location: Ready Room

James crossed the bridge at a quickened pace with his belongings, his orders, and a half filled mug of coffee in his hands. By now he was a bit more awake than previously so his accent wouldn't be quite as strong. He juggled the items before activating the door chime.

Ra was still on edge from his ordeal with the Colonel and for a moment wondered if he'd returned for another round of arguements. "Come." Ra prepared himself for it but found it pointless when he saw someone else standing in the doorway.

James entered the office and placed the PADD down on the desk in front of the Captain, "Sir, Lieutenant Commander James O'Connell reportin' for duty sir."

Ra looked over the man as he reached for the PADD then reviewed it. Typically he would request new senior staff but it would seem Command would send two, a new Chief of Security and now a Chief Engineer. Ra read the orders of transfer. "Chief Engineer." Ra spoke. "Are you familiar with the systems of this class of ship?" Hoping Command didn't send someone because they were the son of an Admiral or next rising star looking to make a name for himself.

"Ascension class carrier armed with twenty six type thirteen phaser arrays and twelve mark two burst-fire torpedo launchers. Da class is the largest vessel design in Starfleet an' is utilized as a carrier with da capabilities of producing fighter replacements if necessary. She is equipped with site to site transporter systems due to da immense size of da ship."

He placed his hands behind his back, "This ship is also unique in tha' it is encased entirely in ablative armor. Da ship has three warp cores instead of the standard one warp core as is common with other vessels. I was assigned here due to meh knowledge in warp field mechanics. Like other engineering officers who are educated in warp field mechanics an' warp core dynamics I am specialized in only a small few ships. Those specializations include Luna an' Intrepi'."

"An' before bein' assigned to yer ship sir I requested to take the courses necessary to understan' da engine system on this vessel." He grinned and sipped the coffee, "An, my request was approved I completed it two weeks ago. I know I still have alot to learn, but I inten' on doin' so..."

"Well I apologise for the short introduction but I have priority orders and little time to prepare. I'd like you to head to Engineering and prepare the ship for departure. Warp 5 will be the speed. Take a count of your staff, we recently were attacked on the surface and took 17 casualties. We are still finding out department losses though most were marines." Ra explained.

"Unless you have pressing questions Commander you have 9 minutes to prepare the ship for departure?"

James had never been one to question orders, but this was rather abrupt and concerning. "Tha' won't be a problem Cap'n', but correct me if I am wrong... Seventeen personnel are dea' or wounded and we're leavin' the system shouldn't we be investigatin' such things as these?"

The look that James got following his question told him that it was not the time nor place to be asking. He didn't press further instead he turned and departed the office coffee in hand and headed for main engineering and his own office.
