Mission:
Unknown Life, Unknown Dangers
Location: Kyle's quarters
Charlie had just finished her meeting with the new Chief Security Officer, BJ. She couldn't help but feel like her hard work was finally paying off. She went to her quarters, sat down on the chair and looked around her empty quarters. While she was acting Chief of Security, she was kept very busy and hadn't much time for socializing. Now that she was officially no longer acting chief, she wanted enjoy herself.
As Charlie looked around, she felt lonely. She hadn't been able to spend time with Kyle and she really missed talking and being with him. She cleaned up and made her way to find Kyle. Computer said that he was in his quarters so she went to surprise him. She stood at the door with a bottle of wine in hand after ringing the chime.
Kyle was in his quarters enjoying some much needed and enjoyable time off. Laying on the sofa's length having turned it to get a full window view of Earth. There was something simple about the view, even in its grand and majestic scope. Then the door chime rang, propping himself up on a elbow so he could see over the backrest of the sofa. "Come in."
Charlie walked in, "Hey stranger." She set the wine bottle on the table, "Miss me? Because I certainly missed you." She sat down next him but not before stealing a kiss from him, "I've been neglecting you and I am sorry."
"It's ok, I know your busy." Kyle knew the rigors of how busy any profession could be and also knew that personal lives often came in second.
"Was busy." She smiled, "We have a new chief in Security. Her name is BJ and we actually had a nice talk. She asked about the relationship between Security and the Marines. I told her we got along fine. She's running it by...um, what is his name? Oh yeah, Commodore Hood." The name made her smile, "Have you met him yet? Someone told me that he's kind of a hard-nose."
"I am but a lowly rank on this ship, unless I screw up there would be no reason for me to see him or him I." Kyle replied. "You on the other hand, we should see more of each other while we are at Earth. We are busy but should make more time for each other."
"For sure." She turned towards him, "I wasn't going to say anything until I knew for sure but I'm going to bust at the seams if I don't." She couldn't stop smiling, "BJ wants to get me promoted to Assistant Security Officer. I don't know anything about this new CO so he might just tell her no. Although my short time of being the temporary Chief of Security wasn't all that great, I really want the promotion. I'm tired of being in the background." She got a serious look on her face, "The new CO doesn't know me. so he'll probably want someone else."
"Well look at you rising up in the world." Kyle spoke with a proud smile. "Soon you won't want to be seen with the lowly ranks such as myself." He faked a sniffle. "I will understand." Playing the wounded and hurt marine at losing his lover.
"Aww." She put her hand on his leg, "I don't care about appearances. I'm afraid that you are stuck with me for eternity." She added, "Besides, I get the feeling that she is planning for Security and the Marines to work together at some point."
"Oh, well should be interesting to see what the Colonel says, no doubt get a brief about it once we head out." Kyle smiled as he leant against her. "So, what did you want to do now. Bite to eat, snuggle on the sofa in front of the planet, watch the feeds from Earth?"
Charlie thought about it, then smiled, "How about...all of the above? Have you eaten yet? I could replicate us something quickly and...I brought wine. Or...we could just forget the food, enjoy the wine and snuggle." She just wanted quality time with him.
"You know, I like that last option best, wine and snuggling." Kyle replied with a smile and fetched two glasses.
Charlie got the wine and opened it. When he brought the glasses, she filled both of them then sat back down and waited for him to do so himself, "Computer, play Beckette Charlie 5 classical music mix, volume, 55 decibels." Soft music began playing.
Kyle returned with the glasses and sat down next to her in the glow of Earth as it slowly rotated in front of them. "Sometimes I think that for all the technology we have, we forget the simple things."
"I agree." Charlie exhaled as she nestled against him, "I wish we could do this every night." She missed spending time with him.
