Not As It Seems

Mission:
Unknown Life, Unknown Dangers
Location: 10km off the Civic
A good nights rest saw Hood on the Bridge as they entered the area where the Civic was last sighted, for the last 8 hours continual scans had been run, probes launched and nothing until a faint element trace. A trail of oxygen and other particulates lead the way to the Civic, adrift in space, lifeless.
"Helm, station keeping 10km off the ship." Hood asked as he looked at the viewscreen. He looked for battle damage, hull damage or anything that could explain what was going on. As the Civic rotated the situation became clearer, the outer hatches to all the cargo bays were open and what ever or who ever was unfortunate enough to be in those holds when they opened were violently ejected into space.
"Tactical scan of the area Commander." William wanted to know if there were any other ships in the area, or anyone that could interfere now that the Dreadnought was present and very visible on any sensors due to its power signature.
I scanned the area but came as no surprise that we were alone, nearest ship was several hours away. "Nothing Captain, nearest ship is 5 hours away, civilian transponder." Which meant even at Warp 5 it would take a while to get here.
William turned to the duty Science Officer. "Scan the ship, give me everything."
The male Lieutenant manning the station turn in his chair after acknowledging and ran the scan. "No lifesigns aboard. The entire ship is vented into space, all major systems are offline and none of her power systems are active, even the computers deactivated." A few moments passed before more came in. "No evidence of battle damage, some minor buckling of the hull but my analysis indicates small meteorite impacts.
Ayla sat quietly next to Commodore Hood, making her own assessment of the Civic from the visuals on the main view screen, letting the crew do their job. She wanted to rush over to the Science Station to run the scans, but she was the XO and had more than enough to do. She took in the what damage was seen and the all of the signs of a massive decompression from all of the open hatches.
It was unlike pirates or raiders to leave the ship as it was, they could have taken it cargo and all but here it was adrift and without crew. "Could the ship be depressurised?" Will asked, a nod gave him his answer.
"Commander Reign, what do you think?" William asked, part of him wanted someone over there to see what was going on but his assessment was also based on his Chief of Security and her opinions on the matter.
"I don't like it," BJ said as she studied the scans. "There's no sign of damage, no lifesigns and the atmosphere has been vented. Something must have happened to the crew from the inside."
"Agreed." Will wanted to find out. "Number One." Will turned to Ayla. "Commander Reign, Commander O'Connell and yourself will suit up and get to Transporter Room 2 and beam over to the Civic. Open comms at all times and be alert, what ever happened over there has to have left indicators." Will made sure that the message was also relayed to Engineering for the CEO to suit up and report to a Transporter Room.
=/\="Sir I recommend bringin' an additional engineer."=/\=James said from the engineering. He completed the orders for the Quartermaster to prepare four EVA suits at the port airlock. He took a deep breath despising space walking. =/\="The suits are ready for deployment."=/\=
Hood approved of the extra engineer, the away team was still small and it would allow then to accomplish what was required without tripping over each other.
=^= Bridge to CAG, deploy the squadron, establish a perimeter around us, 200,000kms. Sensor link up and radio silence unless to report something.. =^=
=^= Aye sir, deploying now. =^= Just the call Zan and the other pilots were waiting for, a change to get some space time off ship and doing what they loved.
"Captain." The Science Officer spoke up again. "With main power offline and back up generators the structural integrity grid is offline. Shes holding together by her build strength. Any sudden move, attitude change or shift could tear her apart or cause extensive damage."
"Yes, Sir," BJ said as she turned Security over to another officer and headed off the bridge. On the way to the transporter, she called another officer from Security to go with them and suited up once she was there. She took her Type II phaser, fifty feet of monomolecular rope and a micro grappler and a tricorder while she waited for the others. When her subordinate showed, they went over each other's suits and made sure that everything was secured, then waited.
Ayla nodded as she stood up. She scampered off the bridge. With a quick trip through the ship to her Den and changed into EVAC suit. She grabbed her specially designed phaser. She left her quarters and made her way to transporter room 2
"Lieutenant Whitaker 'ome wit' me." James said and led the young engineer to the EVA suits and, later to transporter room two in order to meet up with the others.
