Mission:
Unknown Life, Unknown Dangers
Location: Personal Quarters
Timeline: Backpost
Ensign Kelly Vogel grunted as she pulled the bean bag chair that she had brought on the ship with her to a corner of the main area of her quarters. While it wasn't that heavy, it was bulky and she wasn't that big. When she got it settled where she wanted, she dusted her hands off and stood up to look around.
So far, she had a picture hung up above the couch and her bottles of booze lined up on the small counter by the replicate.
Kelly looked at the last remaining big item that had been beamed into her quarters and debated leaving it where it was. It was a heavy wooden trunk that was twenty-four inches tall, thirty-six inches long and forty eight inches wide, but it was solid oak. It had a map of Earth on every available inch of surface and was filled with her most valuable possessions: Chocolate.
Finally, she sighed and went to begin dragging it across the floor to in front of the couch and decided that was a perfect place for it. It could be used as a coffee table, a study desk and more, but all she planned to use it for was her chocolates. She had collected chocolates from all over the galaxy and planned to collect more and this was the perfect place to store it.
Once she got it in place, she headed to the last box that had yet to be unpacked and took her time opening it. This held her prize Royal Balancing Syphon Coffee Maker and cups in it and she had gotten it as a graduation present when she had finished Starfleet Academy from her parents.
In the same box was five pounds of Jamaica Blue Mountain French Roast coffee that was vacuum sealed and four silver serving mugs, a silver bowl for sugar and a matching one for creamer or milk. She pulled everything out and set it on the table in her small dining nook, then took a soft white towel and lovingly cleaned every surface of it before she was satisfied that it was gleaming like new.
She went to the replicator and requested ten cups of water which she poured into the water storage area of the coffee maker, then opened her coffee to scoop out a few cups into the crystal carafe that would be flooded and siphoned off while it was brewed. Finally, she activated the small burner element and went to have a seat.
Soon the rich, warm aroma of fresh, hot, delicious coffee filled the quarters and the young Ensign went to pour a cup. She ignored the sugar and creamer, which hadn't been filled yet, because the coffee would be ruined by such things and took it over to where she sat back on the small standard issue couch.
Kelly looked around and smiled as she took a sip of the coffee, then put her feet up on the chest. "Home," she said with a smile. "Now to see what the rest of the ship has to offer."
