Mission:
Unknown Life, Unknown Dangers
Location: Hanger Bay
Zan ran to his fighter at full pelt as his ground crew held his flight suit and helmet for him. The fighter was already lined up for immediate departure as he slipped his feet into the boots that awaited him. "Fighter?"
"Flight prepped and ready for launch."
"Loudout?"
"Standard CAP."
Which Zan knew meant no heavy weapons, standard anti fighter compliment. "Did you manage to track down the sensor issues?" Zan asked as he zipped up his suit.
"Yeah, it was in the secondary unit, we have replaced and tested it. Shouldn't bother you again."
Zan stepped up the ladder and into his craft, as soon as his foot left the ladder it was wheeled away. When he sat down he began his pre flight checks, even if his ground crew had done it a good pilot always double checked. "Run down."
"Fuel?" His ground Chief began to list.
"100%."
"Thrusters?"
Zan cycled through the many thrusters of his fighter on minimal power, just enough to give a very slight jolt to the craft, an indicator the thruster worked. "Check."
"Avionics?"
"ECM primed, sensors online, weapons master is safe." Zan flicked a switch and the underbelly doors opened.
"Bay open."
He flicked the switch again and told it was closed. "Avionics is green."
"Communications."
Zan ran through the test spectrum which was linked to the external testing suit just off to one side of the craft. "Send and receive signals confirmed, I'm good through the spectrum."
"Confirmed." The Chief spoke then gave the hand signal to open the bay doors. "Launch when ready."
Zan cycled his engines and slowly launched out of the hanger. He'd learned the hard and tragic way of just flooring it out of the hanger, the eagerness of youth got the better of him and it paralysed a crew member. It was deemed an accident, but it remained a most bitter reminder that goofing off often meant someone would get hurt. "Command, Spectre has left the barn, heading to the nacelle now."
Zan flew to the nacelle, in comparison it was huge to him so searching it took a little while but he found something that clearly didn't appear to belong. "Command, I've got visual on something attached to the nacelle, I'm going for a closer look."
Taking his craft in for a closer look it was clear something was not right. "Command, what ever it is I'm seeing movement, pulsing light. I didn't see anything like this when I last landed and none of my birds reported seeing anything so I'd have to say its grown since then."
Xan tried to get some sensor readings on it, but none of what he was getting was making much sense. "Command I'm linking my sensor readings to you, I'm no scientist."
