Mission: Unknown Life, Unknown Dangers
Location: Sickbay

Agitated and annoyed Xavier watched BJ leave before he focused his attention to Charlotte. She had come into direct contact with, he walked into the Isolation Ward.

"Ok, I need you to tell me exactly what happened just prior to contact. I need you to be very detailed on anything that happened when contact with made, any sensations, stinging, anything mental or physical?" He prepared some equipment for her wrist so that it could be treated once everything was sterile.

Charlie was annoyed by the inconvenience as well but there was nothing she could do, "Well..." She thought for a moment, "As I was trying to free Ensign Hixx from the vine, another one wrapped around my wrist for a brief moment. It couldn't have been more than 20 seconds. As soon as BJ ran in and shot the vine, I pulled it off immediately."

Charlie looked down at her wrist, "I remember when it grabbed my wrist, I felt pressure and a slight burning sensation. Kind of like a rug burn. When I tried to pull it off, the vine tightened its grip, cutting into my skin and that's when BJ ran in. It came off and I ran out of the room. That's it."

"How did you feel after contact was broken, heat, muscle spasms, anything beyond what you would consider normal skin irritation, was the wound weeping, any unusual liquids present at the injury site?" Xavier asked sliding a hypospray into a air sealed container and pushed it towards her through the wall. "That should help with the pain and discomfort."

"None of those you've mentioned. Just a slight burning sensation. I'm telling you, I feel fine and this isn't burning anymore either thanks to your meds." She sighed, "It only came in contact with my wrist for a moment."

She couldn't get the images of the victims laying there, bloody and the vines wrapping around their bodies, "Hixx." She remembered something, "As I was trying to pull him away, the vines that grabbed him first, slid off his ankle and I thought it was strange that the wound would fester that quickly."

"I know. With very little to go on and a blood tox-screen didn't find anything Xavier had little choice but to let her go. "I really wish people would stop being medical professionals and telling me they feel fine, I have the medical doctorate, I'll decide." Xavier already had BJ march up that road with band in tow he was not about to let Beckett do it too. "Put this behind your ear, and this around the arm." One would monitor for any possible infection that early signs wouldn't show up yet, the other behind her ear would relay them and monitor life signs while out of Sickbay.

"Sir, what ever that thing is has penetrated deeper into the ship, one life lost, Lt Beckett was injured but I am treating her in isolation as we speak. I am still running tests but so far I am unable to determine much without resuming my studies on the samples brought over from the Civic.

"Doctor, this thing killed the entire crew of the Civic, I will not have the same done to the Dreadnought." William spoke with steel in his voice.

"I will resume my work on the sample the instant I treat Lt.Beckett sir." Xavier spoke with a wry face, it was assuming he could find a way to stop it. "Alright, open isolation, let her go." Xavier spoke to a Nurse monitoring door seal integrity.

Charlie stopped for a moment, "Thank you Doctor. I promise that if I feel even a little funky, I'll let you know." She took off as fast as she could get out of there.
