Mission:
Unknown Life, Unknown Dangers
Location: Personal Quarters
After Vash had calmed down and checked the inventory of booze that she had beamed out of The Pink Kitty and checked on her people, she sighed. She knew she had said some harsh things to Will, but did he really understand her and where she had came from? She shook her head in doubt but knew she had to talk to him.
Leaving the temporary quarters where she had hidden the booze and had a cot set up, she headed up to the deck where he kept his quarters and pressed the chime. She wore a green semi-transparent dress that revealed as much as it hid and had her red hair swept back to reveal her neck.
Will was resting on the sofa, his eyes closed as he tried to bring some measure, any measure of rationality to the chaos that was flooding through his ship and those on it. He had tried to keep Vash safe, yes he understood her position, her club was in danger and he respected that but did she respect his side of things? He knew the threat, what it posed and she whipped out a weapon and blasted away. She refused to listen to reason and then called him a coward.
Part of him told himself that she was still acting like the Emerald Empress, doing what she wanted, with whom she wanted which at the moment was him. Another part told him she was reacting to the moment but another coldly reminded him that she simply didn't seem to care about his feelings, his view, especially when he said she was more important and to him chairs and bars can be rebuilt.
"Yes, come." Will spoke. Wondering who would be interrupting him at this time.
Vash entered when the door opened and stepped in, but she only went far enough for the door to be able to close behind her. "Will?" she asked softly.
Vash was the last person he expected to see, after her words to him earlier he expected her to still be in her club. He opened his eyes but didn't right his head instead leaving it leaned back. He could just make out what she was wearing but not so much in detail because of the angle. "Yes Vash what is it?" Will replied, evident that her words still held a sting.
She debated going closer and finally moved forward a few steps so she could be seen better. "I owe you an apology," she said just as softly as before.
"What are you apologising for?" Will spoke, it was easy to offer an apology but for what is what mattered. He saw her attire, she always looked good but did she do this as part of a plan, using her appearance to smooth things over?
"For calling you a coward and not listening when you only had my safety in mind," Vash said. It was difficult for her to apologize to anyone, but she had been in the wrong.
"You know what really grates me?" Will spoke looking at her semi coldly. "You still think your the Emerald Empress. Doing what you want and thinking you can get away with it. Forget the feelings of others, or the implications of your actions and yes Im talking about the weapons behind the bar, don't think I didn't forget that one."
Will paused. "Yes I had your safety in mind but you didn't care, you tossed me aside, literally I might add." Will folded his hands in his lap. "You have no idea how that made me feel, how worthless I felt I was to you."
Vash approached him and knelt down by the side of the couch so her head was lower than his, one knee on the floor. She looked up at him and there was no trace of arrogance in her voice. "I've had to fight for what was mine my whole life, Will," she said. "I was raised to be like I am and didn't know anything else until I met you. I don't want to throw that way for anything. You're worth more than the bar and the entire Orion Syndicate or anything else."
Will leaned forward towards her. "I get where you have come from, I don't know all about what you had to do, honestly I don't want to because that's not you anymore. Part of you yes and I accept that but to me, you are Vashkele."
Will patted the space next to him on the sofa. He knew this must be difficult for her, who she was Vs who she is, nature Vs life experiences. He liked how her dress shimmered in a way like water when it caught the light at a certain angle.
She stood up and moved to the sofa beside of him, one leg tucked under her but she didn't put a hand on him. After all, he hadn't accepted her apology or given her permission. It galled a part of her and she wanted to cut him, but she forced that urge down. "I'll give you the weapon I brought onboard, too," she said. "I smuggled it aboard in shipments of booze and club supplies."
"It's not that, I just don't want you whipping out a weapon out of nowhere, god knows what security thought when you did that in front of Lt. Beckett." Will spoke rubbing his brow. Still though he could see she was trying to make an effort and as much as she hurt him by her word and action he knew the situation played a part in it. "I accept your apology, just....remember who you are now and what you mean to others."
"I'll accept whatever they and you decide in regards to the weapons," Vash said as she finally moved closer to him and rested a green cheek against his shoulder. She put a hand on his arm and looked up at him again. "I also have two disruptor pistols and a Cardassian laser scalpel if you want me to turn them in."
Will rested a hand on her thigh feeling the material of her dress, a lot softer than he expected. "I'll pretend I didn't hear that so you don't have to." Still even now she managed to bring a measure of peace and calm to a storm, even if she was the cause of it.
"They're not legal in the Federation," she said. "I violated the terms of the agreement that I made with Starfleet by bringing them aboard the ship. Imagine what Admiral S'iraa is going to say when he finds out that I brought a Nausicaan doorbuster on board."
That, Will had not considered. "That's a conversation Im not going to enjoy." It was hard to keep much from the Admiral, this was his ship afterall and he held much of the respect he'd earned with them which meant many were happy to talk to him. "Have you eaten yet?" He asked, he knew he'd been putting it off, mostly through lack of thought.
"Bah," Vash said. "I will handle S'iraa. He can't afford to lose what I can offer and he knows it. If he tries, I'll just point out the lack of Security on his own flagship."
"How about I handle the Admiral and you handle me instead?" Will compromised. It was easier that way, a Starfleet Commodore had an easier time placating an Admiral than a civilian did.
"Are you certain?" she asked. "I do have a bit of pull and he can't bust me down a rank or take a ship from me."
"Im sure." Will spoke leaning against her. "Besides, gives me a chance to update him on recent events too." Not that the updates made for particularly good reading but it did give Will the chance to relay his own actions to combat what was going on.
"He's not going to be happy with me when I give him the damage estimate on the club," Vash said as she moved from where she was, removed her shoes and climbed into his lap. "I would guess it's going to cost fifty thousand credits to repair."
Will shifted slightly when she manoeuvred into his lap. How she managed to pull that off without tearing the seams or hem of the dress he didn't know, but didn't argue. "Yeah might want to let me soften him up a little before you land him with that one." Will spoke when he considered the amount, it was a lot, but if that's what it cost, that's what it cost.
"Are you afraid that I couldn't handle myself if he got uppity with me?" she asked him. "I've faced down assassins and everything else in my life. What's one Caitian who thinks that some boxed in pips on his collar means anything to me? I'm protected, Will."
"Oh I'm sure you can, just let me work you into it before you land him with the bill, at least then he's in the position to expect it." His hands rested on the tops of her thighs. "I do like the dress though." Now that he was in a much better and closer position to gaze upon it.
"Thank you," Vash said. "I had it made for a special occasion but never got to wear it. Are you sure you want to do that? I can take the heat, Will. I've never been afraid of that."
"So whats the special occasion to make you wear it now for me?" Will asked, his thumbs rubbed gently atop her thighs as he looked appreciatively at her."I'm sure Vash really. I'll handle it." He smiled. "And what of us, how are we?" He wanted to make sure things were still ok between them, even after a little hiccup.
"Because you're special to me," she said. "Things are as they were between us again, as it should be. I did warn you that I was very willful and determined in my pursuits and protecting what's mine, didn't I?"
"Yes you did." Will leaned forward and kissed her neck as his arms went around her. It was the small things like a hug or a kiss that made times like this special, meaningful. It didn't have to be sexual though having an Orion in his lap he couldn't complain if it did. One of the best parts was that she was small enough to fit snugly in his arms and he didn't mind one bit.
Vash rested against him and sighed. "I knew life could be this complex," she said. "Oh, I mean that I know it's complex, but the different levels of personal interaction with individuals that I don't give orders to is much different. Like the personnel who came to The Pink Kitty or my meetings with you when my shift is done, or even my interaction with Admiral S'iraa. They're all different and have different outcomes. I couldn't imagine being in your position, Will."
"You get used to it after a while I guess." Will spoke holding Vash to him. "Comes with the position too mostly. Thankfully I've not had much interaction with the Admiral even if this is his Flagship. I suspect that will change once I brief him on recent events." Will explained.
"Shall I put a contract on him?" she asked as simply as if she had asked him what he wanted for dinner.
Will smirked and lifted his head. "You can't put a contract on the Admiral, though if I should happen to find some annoying officer I'll let you know." Will played with a smile.
"Are you sure?" Vash asked him. "It wouldn't be a problem and not everyone knows who Vashkele really is. I still have some contacts."
"That's what worries me." Will joked. "Besides hes not all bad." He was interrupted by his belly giving off a rather undignified gurgle. Will had yet to eat since getting off shift.
"Not all bad implies that there is some bad and that can be removed," she said before she looked at his stomach. "Are you about to give birth or are you hungry?"
"Starving." Will replied. "Not eaten since I got in." Which he knew was his fault but with everything that had happened eating was not a primary consideration.
Vash got up off of his lap and headed towards the replicator. "What are you in the mood for?" she asked him.
"Surprise me." Will spoke as he pulled off his tunic jacket. "Are you hungry?" Wondering if it was a meal for two or just himself.
"Computer, two Spicy Wisconsin Habanero Jack grilled cheese sandwhiches with a layer of brown-sugar bacon and two slices of balsamic portobello mushrooms," Vash said. "Please grill between two slices of sweet pretzel bread, with a dill pickle spears on the side and home cooked kettle chips, and two glasses of Thane's Hall Reserve Select."
She waited until the replicator materialized the meals, then carried them back to him and handed him one, then sat down beside of him.
"Now, we are talking." Will looked at the sandwich, a meal of kings right here. He opened one sandwich up to see how it was put together and the aromas assaulted his nose with each fragrance that beckoned to be enjoyed. "Good choice." Will said before taking a healthy bite.
"I got hooked on them when I was on Earth after my deposition," Vash said. "I found a place that offered over one thousand different kinds and sampled most of them while I was there. I have the replicator programmed for all of them if you wish to try them." She took a bite of her own sandwich and groaned in pleasure at the taste.
That was a selection, one he might just have to delve into. "Listen, with everything going on, would you stay here for a while? At least until things are back to normal?" Will spoke, his mind was focused when he knew what mattered to him was stable, Vash was one of those things and his ship needed him clear headed and sharp.
"Are you sure?" she asked him after she took a bite of her sandwich and washed it down with the beer.
"Rather be sure then be wondering at an important moment." Will spoke softly, taking another bite.
"Then yes, I will," Vash told him as she ate a bite of her pickle. "As long as it doesn't cause you any trouble from the Admiral."
"I'll handle the Admiral." Will still had to brief him, a brief he was not looking forward to. "Don't worry about him." He took another bite of his meal, it was good and helped take his mind off things.
"For now," she said as she set her plate aside and gave him a hungry look that had nothing to do with food. "Let's properly make up and put the rest aside."
