Ayla sat on the couch, legs curled up next to her with several Data PADDs laying about. She held one in her lap, but was lost in thought and lost all interest what was on the pad before her.
I walked in through the door from shift, a long day that seemed to drag, reports that didn't seem to end and tactical problems that frankly were just out of my potential to overcome. Tearing a nacelle off a ship tends to stack against someone at the end of the day. Seeing Ayla though my day seemed to get a little brighter. "Hey babe." A smile on my lips but I could see something was amiss.
"What's wrong babe? tough day?"
Ayla blinked slowly as she came out of her daze as if waking up. She looked at Mark for a few seconds. She let the PADD fall to the floor as she stood up and approached her mate and hugged him. Pressing her robed covered body against him as she rested her head against his shoulder.
"An easy day for mez," spoke softly. Ayla looked up at him. "Howz yooz day been?" Just enjoying holding him for the moment.
"Trying." I replied. "Very...trying." It was good to hold her though, like a warm security blanket that seemed to make all the woes and troubles of everything else just pale and seem less important. "Did I catch you just out of the shower?" Wondering why the robe.
"Iz wanted to be comfortable." Ayla nodded in confirmation. "Itz a good thing yooz not in Engineering right now. Admiral raking everyone over the rocks." Ayla released Marks to go and pick up the strewn PADDs around her area where she was sitting. " Yooz go get cleaned up. Iz fix yooz drink."
Not needing to be told twice I headed off to the bathroom. "Yes Ma'am." Things couldn't be the same again with Marcie not here, the little ball of energy, youthful innocence was gone. I freshened up, changed out of my uniform and walked into the main room again. "How you holding up babe?" I asked knowing you were going through the same woes as I was.
Ayla was on the floor before a low slung chair with one arm under it. She looked at Marks. She gave a soft sad sigh. "Just when yooz think yooz have everything..." She pulled her arm out from under the chair as she spoke softly, holding one of Marcie's dolls. Sitting back on her heals as she holds the doll in her lap. Ears were drooping and eyes closed as she looked down. "Then.. Squeeeee! Itz be taked way."
Ayla looked up at Marcs. "Was wez wrong to become Matez? Iz this mez? Ourz? punishment? "
If anything stopped me cold in my tracks, that was it. I looked at Ayla with eyes that were for her alone. "No, we were not wrong. What happened was not our fault, even Dr Patrovski who took care of Miracle, knows of the needs even saw it and he knows better than we do when it comes to what happened. If he says its not us, its not ok?"
I didn't like seeing her beat herself up over the loss of Marcie but it would be hypocritical of me because away from her, I'd done the same. "You know I love you, always will but what happened doesn't change how I feel towards you, us or this family."
Ayla nodded with a soft heartfelt sigh as she stood up. "And Iz love yooz," stuffing the doll in her robe pocket to be stored later. She moved to Marks. "Iz will be yourz as long yooz will have mez." Coming to a rest against him gently to be in his presence. "Yooz are a wonderful father to ourz daughter..." abruptly ending her sentence. She hugged him.
"Or until you put me in the looney bin when I hit old age." I joked trying to lighten the mood. "Ayla, I don't plan on going anywhere, leaving you or anything like that. Marriage is about compromise, taking the good with the bad, we just had a bad but we are both strong and we will get through it."
"Squeak! Great Mice! No! Iz never could do that!" Ayla leaned back a bit to look up at her mate. Eyes wide. "If Iz do, I will be right beside yooz!" She rested her head against him. She took in his scents, a twinkle sparkled in eyes. He was right. It was time to move on as she was feeling another itch. It had been a long time, even by her standards.
She took his hand in hers as she took a step back, looking up at him. She moved his hand within her robe as her robe fell open to revile a sheer lacy bra. Then her thong panties and garter belt with thigh high stocking.
"You know, the last time you wore a robe like this I was but a wide eyed Lt.Commander and we were sat on the sofa over there." The memory coming back, one that started all of this, us. Yet my hand registered everything to touch, my eyes the rest. "I also remember the last time you wore something like this. Still as beautiful as I remember."
"Squeee... Wonderful times. And yooz still handsome as ever. And a bit more distinguish!" Looking up at him. "Whatcha gonna do about this? Leave a lady wanting?" She released his hand to place both her hands on his waist. "And it led to some wonderful years together. Beautiful and smart daughters." Voice softens filled with the warmth of love, tinged with a trace of sadness.
"Leave you waiting...never." I scooped Ayla into my arms and I just stood there holding her, a sort of cuddle I guessed as I held her body to mine before walking to the sofa. "Hmm, where it all began." Some very good memories, some worth recreating but through our lives together we have shared our ups and downs, made sacrifices and I'd do it all over again if I was asked.
Ayla snuggled against Mark, when she was picked up, letting her warm scent and a soft citrus aroma tickle his fancy. She settled nicely in his cuddle as she pressed her womanly physique against his. "hmmmm-hu," murmured against his neck, giving it a soft kiss/lick.
