Mission: The Emerald Road
Location: Main Engineering

James stood at the MSD of this Prometheus class vessel he was, at least for the time being the Chief Engineer of. Who ever was overlooking the ship before me had clearly taken care of it, everything was in top shape, all the paperwork was files, everything pristine. Had I not known the ship was almost 2 years old it could almost pass for slipping straight off the production line. Being an Engineer though there was a hint of pride at doing better, James was confident he could get the energy conversion rate a little higher. James was no in competition with anyone, he didn't have to be but he wanted to squeeze that little bit more out that he knew he could do.

James knew that he'd be able to beat the Dreadnought's rate, 1.2 million tons of single core starship compared to a tri core 6.3 million tons of dedicated warship. The team of engineers James had to work with were a mix of Dreadnought personnel and Indefatigable staff and not that he could blame that arrangement. It was never a bad thing to have individuals on board that knew the ropes of the ship than to hand it over to a fresh unknowing team but time and experience would change that.

When the order came down the lines to prepare the ship for departure James walked into his office to begin decoupling the feeds from the yard. Most of them were running through the docking arm but the connections still needed to be closed, nothing worse than cutting off a feed mid update or transmission. He wanted to be able to inform the Bridge that they were standing by down here ready to go without being asked.

"Standby for impulse power, prepare navigational shielding once we clear the yard, bring fusion reactors online." James liked to be prepared, nothing wrong with it in his eyes but in his profession being prepared could save lives and the ship. He watched as people made themselves busy carrying out orders and working as teams to get tasks done. Just because they were at UP didn't mean something couldn't go wrong at the last minute.

As he watched the displays his mind wondered to Kelly, things had been going pretty well with them recently and while nobody had been briefed yet on what the mission was he hoped that it would provide them time to get together later on.

As green lights started to flash on his main display he could see the ship slowly being prepared for departure. Reactors were coming online, the core was ready, injectors were primed and the ship would be ready to move in 2 minutes.

The downtime transition after everyone evacuated the Dreadnought was nice, he felt a little down that he had to leave everything of his on board the Dreadnought until the all clear had been given and even then he was too late to get anything because he was busy doing his after action job since he was the Chief Engineering Officer of the ship in question.

=^= Bridge, Engineering. All major systems online, engines ready and warp speed available at your command. =^= James spoke after tapping his badge.
