The Emerald Road
Location: Marine Commanders Quarters
It was the warmth that woke Acacia, the warmth of having a body next to hers. Yawning and pulling the sheets down so that the cooler air could fall onto her bare skin, she waited a bit to cool off before opening bright blue eyes,. Intently, she gazed into the peaceful and utterly calm face of her lover. It was at least acceptable to call him that, as they'd made it to one of their beds in nearly every encounter they'd had with the other. All the care had faded from him and the lines of worry had faded. There was almost something childlike about his peaceful slumber. Briefly she wondered if that was normal for him. Having a care not to disturb him, she substituted her pillow for herself under the arm that was around her waist and slid noiselessly from the bed.
Jack enjoyed a restful sleep thanks to the previous nights activities, it was one of the things he enjoyed about what they did together, they both ended up happy and content. In typical bloke fashion Jack rolled a little towards her, flung his arm across her and without conscious thought pulled her to him strongly, a firm hug but it came with a price. His body was hot, almost like a furnace against her.
Fanning herself with a hand, she pressed her lips together firmly to suppress a giggle. If they were to make a future together they would have to turn down the temperature in the sleeping quarters else she float away in a sea of sweat. Disgusting... she thought to herself as she slipped on a pair of lacy boy short panties and one of the olive green shirts. From the heavier scent of aftershave she'd wager this was the one she'd stripped from him last night. Her eyes fluttered closed as she inhaled and with that came the memories of the previous night. Before she could climb back in bed and accost him again, she set out to the small kitchen on bare feet to see about a spot of breakfast.
Body gone, presence missing Jack rolled onto his back. His leg sticking out the side of the bed from under the covers as he sprawled over the bed taking up her side as well as his own. Dreams filled his sleeping moments of a dashing young purple headed woman and the activities they got up to a couple of hours ago.
Rolling her eyes at the sparsity in the kitchen and then remembering they were on a new ship she walked to the replicator and had a glance through the replicator history of Colonel Frost. It seemed like when he ordered breakfast from the replicator- which wasn't often he always ordered pancakes. Pancakes she could do, and probably better than the computer. Buttermilk, eggs, butter, cinnamon, and cloves she ordered from the replicator, along with the dry mix for pancakes that she usually mixed from scratch.
It took a little while but eventually Jack stirred from his restful slumber as the aromas tugged at his mind, the familiar smell known to him but not awake enough to put his finger on it yet. Through blurry eyes he could see his bed was empty which for a moment made him wonder had Acacia gone back to her place? She'd said she didn't want this to be a fling but was he too much last night?
Mixing took all of three minutes, and then expertly she poared the pancake mix on the buttered griddle while bacon fried beside it. She couldn't serve pancakes without bacon or coffee. Poaring a new batch of pancakes onto the griddle, she leaned over the counter to pull out a coffeepot and set it up so that it brewed the morning's ambrosia.
Coffee was the universal alarm, the smell of that woke most and Jack was no different. Blanket off and cast aside like some offending sheet of material he slowly got out of bed and headed towards the kitchen. It was at this moment and an eye rub that found him leaning against the door frame to the bedroom and the view that greeted him was most welcome. Acacia bent over his kitchen counter reaching for something apparently but the green shirt she was wearing had ridden up enough to showcase her perfect ass clad in boyshorts. "Well hello there." The grin on his face obvious to tell what he'd just seen.
Casting a glance over her shoulder to look into his amused eyes, she grinned back at him "Why good morning, can I interest you in coffee?" Her hips had a bit more sway to them when she turned to flip the pancakes still cooking on the griddle.
"Hmm Coffee." The magic word of any morning. Jack walked towards her and came to a stop behind her, his hands cupped the cheeks of her boyshorted ass before he leaned forward and with his chest pressed against her back his hands snaked to in front of her, one up, one down. "Coffee." He mumbled into her neck.
Her laughter echo'd in the small kitchen space as she reached out to get a cup for him. Acacia couldn't help the tiny gasp that escaped her, as his hands moved over her body. "I'm Acacia, not coffee" she teased after a moment, poaring the black liquid into the cup she'd managed to snag before his arms were around her.
Like a hunter Jack saw what he needed, his arms let go of Acacia as he focused on the cup of morning wake up. It was obvious that Jack was not a morning man if he didn't have to be. "Coffee." Taking the cup into his hands and holding it before his nose with a deep breath in.
She snorted in amusement and gave him a nudge towards the table. "Go make love to your coffee over there and breakfast will be up in a minute."
Jack walked to the table carrying his precious cargo but not before giving her ass a good firm grope before pulling out the chair a sitting in it. "How did you sleep?"
"Quite nicely thank you." Came the answer accompanied with a smile.
As Jack began to drink the life sparking brew he became more alert. This went to wonder how this Marine ever got started in the morning considering he was usually so alert and prepared. "Sorry if I took up all the bed, unless its sleeping in a hole, up a tree or with the troops its rare I get some shut eye with anyone else."
"It might surprise you to know that you're remarkably cuddly." The remark was intended to tease him and was delivered with a tender tiny little smile as she put a plate of pancakes and bacon in front of him.
As soon as the plate was down and he saw what it was he pulled Acacia into his lap. "A view, Coffee, a feel and now pancakes....woman after my own heart I think." He spoke as he nuzzled her neck with his scratchy unshaven morning scruff.
"In that case you wont mind if i..." and she stole a piece of bacon from his plate even as her arms slid around his neck.
"Stealing a Marine's bacon.....someone likes living on the edge." Jack replied as he forked some of the pancake at ate it. His free hand resting on her bare thigh as she sat in his lap. "What are you having?" He was not going to let her steal all of his bacon.
"Stealing a marines shirt, a marines bacon and a kiss from the marine. Watch out universe i cant be stopped." The kiss she gave him was anything but joking however.
Jack accepted the kiss gladly as she sat close to him. "So what on the agenda for today?" He find out what was on his when he got to his office and his assistant would hand him the days routine.
"Nothing emergent or they would have contacted me already. It will probably be a normal medical shift." she shrugged, they usually gave her notice if she had any surgical cases so she could prep for them. "Might change from purple sometime this week just for something new."
"Oh, anything in mind?" Jack asked as he scoffed another pancake. He finished eating it before he spoke again. "Something different and wild I hope?"
"Maybe blue to purple to red. Not sure yet. Whatever calls to me i suppose when im looking at the dye packs. "
"Well, what ever you pick I'm sure you will still turn heads just like you did when you got on board and when I first saw you." Jack finished his plate, put his fork down on top of it and put his arms around her. "So, you're not going to have a problem being seen or known to be with me are you?" Considering the assistants issue earlier.
Acacia gave a snort of derision "Please, i'm a stronger woman than that I promise." She wondered briefly which of them would get more notoriety her for taming the the mighty marine or him for making an honest woman of the wild doctor
After several minutes of enjoying her closeness it was time to, sadly, get ready for work. "Want to join me in the shower?" He asked though he'd understand if she didn't.
"Are we going to shower?" she asked boldly as she gazed into his blue eyes. They were softer in color than hers, almost a slate blue and she loved the way they changed in regards to his mood.
"Depends...." A warning or a promise he'd let her decide. "Would you care on which?" He knew he didn't but one way or another they had time.
"In that case- I definitely want to join you" her delicate laugh echoed back at him as she slipped off his lap and snagged a pancake from the plate she'd prepared for herself. She nibbled it as she scampered off to the bedroom, and then the bath.
"You know...stealing a marine's food is a sure way to get you in trouble young lady...." Jack put the plate into the replicator before necking the rest of his Coffee and walking into the bedroom again where off to the right was the bathroom.
"I made more than enough for two, marine or not. You'd best not be begrudging me my energy Lt. Colonel sir." she said with a cheeky salute that was not at all regulation.
"I did notice the quantity." Without a care Jack stripped off his boxers leaving just his gloves on and walked into the bathroom where he was glad spare towels were already waiting. "Besides, I get tired of eating rations considering the amount of energy I have to burn to not get fat."
She scoffed at that last as she flicked the shower from sonic to water. The gentle sound of rain filled the bathroom and she turned to see him stripping down again. That was a sight she would never tire of.
"Can I assume I've lost that shirt?" Truth be told it actually looked good on her, even if it was a little too big, still looked good.
"You going to give me my bra back?"
"I'm going to have to say no on that one." Standing in the door way naked and gloves with naught a care in the world.
"Then this shirt is mine. Seems a fair trade to me. Just means i get to buy a new bra to compensate."
"As long as its something lacy and sexy, you can model it for me later." Jack walked into the shower and began to wash, since she was still dressed it gave her the perfect view of watching the water cascading down his scarred, battle worn frame.
"I dunno. You might have to earn that." She teased gently slipping his shirt over her head. Her voice took on a note of curiosity as she snuggled into the hot water behind him. "wouldn't it be easier to shower with the gloves off?"
Jack gave pause, feeling her arms around him, her body pressed against his own. Normally the gloves would have gone ignored but this was not normal as he had another present. He leaned forward resting his hands against the wall letting the water rain down on him. "I was wondering when you would ask about them." Especially since Jack had worn them to bed, during sex, only when he was alone would he take them off.
Her fingertips, gentle and soft caressed down a long scar on his back before she spoke. "I know that wet gloves are terribly uncomfortable. You don't have to tell me what happened, but...you don't have to wear them..."
"It was almost like another lifetime." Jack spoke looking at the black gloves on the wall. "I was so young, keen, eager. Driven to succeed, to prove myself to everyone that I had what it took. I trained hard, worked at honing my skills but training seldom prepares for the realities of combat." He lift hand pulled away from the wall, turned to look at the black palm.
She recognized a regret when she heard one and nodded against his back. "If only we could get through youth without the unfortunate mistakes that being young entails." She brushed her lips to the scar shed just caressed and sighed gently.
"Without mistakes we do not learn, without failure we can not get stronger, without resolve we can't strive to achieve." Jack replied. Something they he read in a book, the very book now on his shelf, a book from his former friend that he kept and used during the darkest of times for the young 2nd Lieutenant.
There was something in the tone of his voice that made her want to protect him from whatever had hurt him so. That pain had never been tempered and it sounded...raw. Her fingertips lifted and she raised up on her toes, ignoring the spray in her face to caress his cheek softly.
Acacia was kind, caring and considerate. Beyond all what he was expecting in light of his battle worn body that bore the wounds of many battles over many years. He could of had them removed, restored his otherwise perfect form for his age and build but some reminders are best kept physical, each like badge, each a reminder of battle waged and friends lost. "In time...." Was all he said as the water splashed about him.
Her arms wrapped around his waist and she simply made a sound of agreement. Sometimes the best thing to say was nothing, and if he wasn't ready to share that with her she wasn't going to push at it. Water pooled between her breasts and him as she simply rested her cheek on the muscular planes of his back.
"But.....enough about me. We are supposed to be showering....or something in here anyway.." Jack spoke as he looked over his shoulder to her.
A tiny laugh emerged from behind him "Or something hmm?" pulling away just enough that the water cascaded down her body like a waterfall she pondered the or something. "Is this ladies choice or did you have something in mind?"
In that moment Jack leaned down hooked his hands behind her thighs and lifted her up, bringing her legs to wrap around him pinned her against the now warm side of the shower space. "Something like this."
She yelped in surprise and then leaned her head back into the warm water with a blissful expression as it flowed over her body, pooling between their bodies to spill over to the floor. Her cheeks were reddened at the sound she'd made, from the embarrassment that trickled through her but was overridden by the feel of the water.
