Mission: The Emerald Road
Location: The Zhivvoulaass

In the holding cell on the small corvette that the Mothers Without Mercy had placed her, Vashkele looked at the controls on the other side of the force field that covered the exit. Turning away from it, she studied the walls and didn't find any weaknesses, but the toilet seemed to offer some options.

As distasteful as the idea was, she removed her shirt and plunged it into the water, then pulled it out. She got as far from the force field as she could, then threw the sopping mess at it. A bright light flared up and it crackled with energy, but didn't short out.

A guard who was posted nearby came running and pressed the controls to see what had happened. The moment the field flickered and in the smoke of the ruined shirt, Vash hurtled forward like a photon torpedo and tackled the man.

He was twice her size and much stronger, but she gripped him between his legs and squeezed as hard as she could. A scream tore from his lips as she ducked under him and pulled the disruptor that he wore at his hip. Despite his pain, the Orion male turned in fury as the prisoner fell back from him. "You stupid...."

"Silence, male!" Vash roared in her most commanding tone and the female-dominated indoctrination that the man had undergone his entire life made him falter. As he fought it, she thumbed the safety off and fired.

It was a short, very painful death for the guard, but she didn't stay around to savor it. She turned and sprinted for the exit. She was going to have to save herself and she didn't plan on letting anyone on the ship live if she could help it. She thought of Will and choked back the emotions that came to mind and what could happen if she died.

She rounded the corner of the corridor and a stun blast hit her, but she fought against it until another hit her. She stumbled and fell, trying to bring the disruptor up, but consciousness fled before she could pull the trigger.

One of the Mothers Without Mercy kicked the disruptor away from her limp hand and then kicked her in the side. "Stupid bitch," the Orion snarled. "And an even stupider male. From now on, no males are to watch her. Drag her to one of the cabins and bind her," she ordered someone else. "Keep a better eye on her this time. If our luck holds, we'll get her to the auction before the Federation can do anything. Rebellion and betrayal will not be tolerated!"

As Vash was dragged away, the only thing that went through her mind was a dream that Will was on his way.
