Mission: The Emerald Road
Location: Sickbay

I got a message from a Doctor Armada, apparently she wanted to see me about a blood sample, couple of tests and some Q&A. Might as well get it out of the way was my train of thought. "Sal, heading to Sickbay." I spoke as I left the Tactical Office

"Everything ok?"

"Yeah, family health stuff." I replied. With that I was out the door.

*** Sickbay ***

I hated Sickbay, just irked me, the sterile smell and niceties. Some Doctors were fine but you could tell some interaction was forced and that just made things difficult to adjust to. "Commander Bawden for Doctor Armada." I spoke to a Nurse who had come to see me after walking in. I guess I was expected because I was directed to a bed and asked to wait.

"Commander Bawden, I'm Doctor Sarah Armada. Pleased to meet you." Sarah spoke as she rounded the corner of an office. "Please don't worry this is nothing major, I saw your Wife and children earlier."

Explained what the Mrs was on about then. "So what's the deal Doc?" I asked.

"I was hoping to take a blood sample, a few tests and ask some questions if you have the time?" Dr Armada asked.

"Sure I guess." I replied, might as well after all, couldn't hurt. "So what did you want to ask?"

"General family health questions, a few personal ones, physical and metal health with one or two sexual health questions thrown in." Sarah answered as she readied a hypospray to take the sample. "How would you view your physical health?"

"Could be better I guess, too much Coffee doesnt help, sometime shave trouble sleeping with the kid growing up far too fastl." I replied. "I don't go to the gym as often as I'd like with all my duties, more so now the Mrs and I have to rotate shifts to make sure someone is looking after the little one."

"Have you been giving yourself time to relax, unwind from duties?"

"I would say yes, Mrs would probably disagree." I answered, probably true too since I'd been focused on the Mrs, worrying about the impact of losing Marcie it would have with the family I'd not really considered myself in it much.

"I'll just run a few tests on this and then get back to you." Sarah said as she inserted the sample into the equipment for review.

I was given a minute or so to think, reflect I guess on things as they were currently. Was I happy with how things were? Had I become too comfortable with the status quo and done nothing about it until now it be to late?

"So everything comes back within normal ranges, iron is a little down, elevated stress to be expected but you should address that." Sarah said as she returned to the patiently waiting Commander. "So lets talk about mental health. Anything you want to mention, mood swings, adjusted temperament and so on?"

"Nothing out of the ordinary for a Father I guess, kids can be a handful at times, Mrs being the XO can create some interesting situations and I try and be strong for her but does drain me a little." I had to think about what she was asking.

Seeing the pause Sarah leapt straight in with another question. "Let's talk about sexual health. Any prior partners before your Wife?"

Blimey, thats going back some. "One or two maybe, talking a ways back here Doc, not the sort of thing I keep on the 'must remember' list."

"That's fine. I'll ask this of Ayla but I'd like your input. Any intimate issues between you two sexually?"

"Not really I guess, fur can be a bother if left to grow to long. More sex would be nice but not the sort of thing you just come out with. I dunno, recently been kind of feeling my age, when I'm with her I feel young again and want to enjoy the act while I'm still sort of young and capable."

Sarah smiled. "Perfectly normal, honestly." She ran a few scans on the Commander to get additional information. "At least you are aware of it, you should talk to Ayla and explain how you feel. You can't bottle it up and hope it goes away because it will only make matters worse. I know you recently lost Marcie, have you talked about it with her, opened up?"

It was honestly something that I'd considered but that was definitely something that required a chat with the Mrs first. "Yeah thought of that too." I replied, good that she was covering all the bases. "Have to speak to her about that, I've just been trying to be strong."

"Understandable, I am just giving you options to consider should you wish them." Sarah was interrupted from continuing by a bleeping console which she checked. "Tests are done, aside from minor dietary issues your fit a healthy."

"A plus I guess. There anything else Doc?"

"Nothing. Though I suggest talking to Ayla, she may innocently not know of your wants and desires. Talk to her."

"Right o Doc." I replied then headed for the door.
