Thoughts and Relaxing

Mission: The Emerald Road
Location: Xavier and BJ's Quarters

Xavier had beaten BJ home, usual considering his work was closer but it did give him a chance to shower, change and prepare something to eat. He was in the mood some something a little different. Lobster. It was not that he was in a fancy mood but something different from the norm he felt would lighten moods and maybe make his Fiance smile. Wearing a casual shirt and pants now he was behind the counter preparing food waiting for her to come home to him.

As he worked he considered the meeting earlier and the views expressed within. The Commodore was in a difficult position that much was obvious but he also knew that it would come down to the crew to help the man stay on the straight and narrow. Girlfriend aside she was a member of the crew and nobody was left behind and while some may disagree with the man's motives, nobody gets left behind.

BJ came in about ten minutes later looking like she had gotten into a wrestling match with a Klingon. Her uniform was sweat stained, her hair was in disarray and she looked tired, but she smiled when she saw her man. "Hey," she said tiredly as she crossed the distance between them. "I'd offer a kiss, but you might need a shower just for touching me."

"I'd offer you something to eat but it's not ready yet." Xavier smiled. "15 minute rain check?" He offered which meant food could be ready and gave her time to freshen up a little before dinner. He hoped she was ok though no doubt would tell her the story later, no need to press her for it now.

"Sure," she said. "I need to get out of this uniform before I shoot myself for being offensive. I did six hours of straight drills today."

"Does the Chief Medical Officer need to step in?" Xavier joked as he looked her over. "Overworked can be a serious condition, stress both physical and mental can hamper productivity." Stress being something he was well talented at soothing in her.

"No, you don't," BJ said as she headed for the shower. "I have to get the limited personnel whipped into a cohesive unit."

Xavier watched her walk away and then focused on the food to make sure it was ready for her to eat when she was done freshening up. He knew Security was a demanding job, BJ had often spoke about it so he knew that it was give and take when it came to personal lives and what they could do together. While the final ingredients cooks he poured two drinks and placed them at the end of the kitchen counter ready.

She wanted nothing more than to take a long, hot, shower with actual water, but had to settle for a sonic shower. The benefits of the Dreadnought had definitely spoiled her, she mused as she let the vibrations loosen tense muscles and get the grime off of her. The gentle pulsing was starting to make her nod into a dream-like state, but she shook herself out of it.

Reluctantly, BJ got out of the shower, tossed her uniform into the recycler and pulled a black silk robe on. She made a minor effort with her hair before she simply pushed it back over her shoulders and came back out. "Well, I smell more human. Am I presentable enough for a kiss?"

"You are always presentable." Xavier spoke as he leant in to give her a warm and loving kiss." "I'd ask how your day was but going by how you looked and what you said when you got in I don't think I need to." He pushed one of the glasses towards her.

She accepted the drink after returning the kiss. "I got soft on Dreadnought," she said before she took a sip. "And now I'm paying for it. But such is life in Security. Go into Operations, they said. You'll be the brain of the ship, they said. Nope. I went into Security."

"Well, how about a new resolution to get back to how things were, in shape, eating right, making time for each other regularly and looking for the future?" He spoke as he started to plate up the food.

"That sounds really good," BJ said as her stomach growled when he began to dish up the food. "And that smells even better. What did I do to get so lucky?" she wondered, even though she had gone after him.

"Oh I think you know." Xavier replied with a smile when he heard the growling. "Take a seat and I'll bring the food out to you and the table." It just needed one final touch and then it was ready to serve.

She blushed as she heard her own stomach growl and headed to the table. "I promise that I'll make this up to you, Xav. How was your day?"

"Slow, not much happened in Sickbay, few still getting used to where things are now compared to the other ship. A few routine things at most otherwise it was a stock inventory check that honestly wasn't needed but it was something to do." Xavier replied having finished cooking he brought the components of the meal over to the table. Everything was already set from cultery to napkins, glasses and spare plates. "I hope it's not too much, I might have gotten carried away."

"Trust me when I tell you that you may have to make more," BJ said. "I'm starving and I have another long day ahead of me tomorrow."

Lifting the lids from the various things flooded the room with all the smells and aromas his creation provided. He hoped she liked it, hoped it was enough. "Oh..." Xavier ran back to the kitchen to grab another bottle. "There we are."

He gave pause for a moment. "So, you mentioned tomorrow...?" Interested in what she had to say while plating up.

It was an effort, but she restrained herself from grabbing the food with her hands or taking a bite out of him while she waited for the food. "More training. I'm pushing Security as hard as I can, as much as I can," she said. "We have less, which means we have to react faster and be ready in the blink of an eye. Whoever kidnapped the Orion isn't going to be playing. You know who she really is, don't you?"

"I'm a Doctor as you know, not Mr Current Events." Xavier joked with a smile letting BJ take her share of the food before venturing near again.

BJ dished out the food on her plate and despite being ravenous, she looked at him. "Her name is Melani D'ian and she's the former head of the Orion Syndicate," she said in all seriousness. "She betrayed the Syndicate and claimed asylum with the Federation. That threw operations into enough disarray to shut down seventy five percent of it for the next fifty years."

Xavier had that look on his face, disbelief didn't come close. "You mean the Commodore is dating the former head of the Orion Syndicate?" More over, Admiral S'iraa had her on his flagship of all places. His mind was a little slow on the processing of both details. "So..." Xavier was trying to form a sentence as words came to him. "So you mean...she got to the top, betrayed everyone, screwed over the syndicate and somehow ended up on Admiral S'iraa's flagship which is top of the line, and dating the Commodore?"

"She was deliberately put on the Dreadnought for her protection," she said after taking a bite of food and swallowed it down with a drink. "New identity, the whole nine yards. Someone inside must have spilled the beans. There were only three of us on the ship who knew who she really was."

"You know they are involved right, sexually?" Xavier said, perhaps in some way he shouldn't have said but considering the mission and the position the Commodore was in, there was enough compromising for one day.

"I figured," BJ said after another bite of food. "My Security people saw her coming and going from his quarters often enough looking like she had the run of the ship. Not to mention that nothing came of the illegal weapons she had in her little strip club when that alien organism attacked the ship."

"So what you going to do? An involved Commodore, former Orion criminal leader and this mission?" Xavier didn't envy the position BJ was in, Chief of Security and a Commodore whose partner was taken and had to get her back. That left many questions of what lines the man would cross to see Vash rescued.

"Follow orders," she said simply. "I don't have the power to force him to step down even if he's putting the ship and crew in jeopardy. Only the Chief Medical Officer and the Executive Officer can declare him unfit for command if you feel his judgement is impaired. Anyone else tries it, they have a term for it. It's called mutiny."

"I can only relieve him if I believe I have medical grounds to do so. If he is ill or his mental capacity has been compromised leading to ship or crew endangerment. You will have to look at the XO for anything he does operationally, breaks rules, general orders or anything." Xavier replied, not envying the potential position he was possibly faced with.

"He's already compromised, Xavier," BJ said as she put her fork down. "He's in a relationship with the former head of the Orion Syndicate and I highly doubt he'll be thinking clearly when he gives orders. He's going to do it with the Federation's covert blessing, too, and you know what that means? It means that if we get killed and the ship destroyed....we were a rogue ship that went silent in violation of any and all orders, treaties and borders."

"I get what you are saying, I do." Xavier did. "But has he done anything, so far to give grounds for the XO or I to remove him?" He asked, otherwise all this was speculation at a man who might break rules and make a bad call. For all intents and purposes the Commodore was still mostly unknown on board.

BJ shook her head, sending her long hair flying with the motion. "No," she said with a shrug. "This is just information, Xav. I don't like it and I made that known at the briefing, but my hands are tied. We're likely heading into a trap or far, far worse. The former head of the Syndicate betrayed them. Do you really think they're going to let us just waltz in and take her back?"

"Absolutely not, if she flipped off that many people, damaged operations that much it's safe to say that she's going to be guarded which means a fight. All we can do is be ready, make the ship ready and back him until he crosses the line." Xavier replied. "It's the part of the job I hate, after the dust settles its the Doctors clearing up the mess."

"At least you won't be wading in up to your short and curlies," she said as she took another drink of her wine. "That's the fun part of being in Security. We used to be red shirts to hide the blood. A shame they didn't give us brown pants when they changed the uniforms."

"I am sure you are just as capable in gold, red, blue or little at all." Xavier winked at her with a grin on his face as he ate more of his meal. "Besides, you are well trained, you don't take silly risks."

"Going after her is a risk, Xavier and a deadly one," BJ said as her appetite started to fade. "We're heading into Orion space. Their government wouldn't even let the Federation step onto a illegal gambling parlor on an Orion craft that was at Deep Space Nine before. Do you think they're going to let us just stroll in? We're one ship."

"A fast and well armed one. But look at it this way, Vash was protected by Starfleet she was abducted on Federation home soil. If the Orions are behind this then they trespassed, conducted covert operations on another powers turf. That's a prelude to war right there." Xavier spoke.

"They came to the heart and punched the Federation in the eye," she said. "Then they slipped away without a trace other than a direction that was hours later. If she didn't contact the Commodore, we may never have known what happened to her. Regardless of what charges the Federation brings up against the Orions, it'll be hell getting who we want."

"Would you stop at anything to get me back if I was taken?" Xavier asked. He knew BJ, she'd move starships with her bare hands if she had to or die trying.

"You were there when I pulled a phaser on Bradshaw," BJ reminded him.

"And you crossed a line doing it. Thankfully Bradshaw didn't press charges and the Commodore went easy on you. All I'm saying is remember that when handling William, if he has to flex a little, support him." Xavier suggested.

"I already said that I'd follow orders," she said as she picked at her food. "He can't ask for anything more from me than that."

"And what can I ask for?" Xavier said deciding to chance the topic and mood. "As I understand the Chief of Security has a thing for me, my expert hands and massage abilities."

"You don't have to ask for a thing," BJ said with a smile. "I'm always available for you to use those wonderful hands on."

"Are you in need of these hands currently?" Sometimes a soothing massage could ease a lot of tension and BJ, looked tense.

"I'll purr for you if you want me to if it means getting that massage," she said.

"Can you actually do that?" Xavier remember back at the Academy a group of them were joking around, one of the girls purred and pulled it off. Xavier tried and only ended up dribbling on himself.

"I can try....or you can see if you can make me purr with those magical hands," BJ said as she took another bite of her food finally.

"I'll take the latter of the two, seeing as such would greatly benefit you and your tense state as much as I." Xavier spoke as he also continued to eat. "It will have to be regular oils I'm afraid, the others are still on the Dreadnought." Remembering those well enough and the effects they had when combined.

"That's a shame," she said as she finished her food and stretched. "But we have to make do. Shall we?"

"Well, grab a few towels and lay them on the bed, I'll grab the oils." He smiled, a massage may seem simple, or straight forward for his talents but it was the act that meant the most, and who it was with.

BJ came to her feet and moved over to hug him and gave him a kiss. "I love you, Xavier," she said. "Now let's go relax."

The hug and kiss was welcome and a sense of warmth and security washed through him. Everything had changed for the better since BJ came into his life, had she not he'd probably be a doctor in some private practice on Earth somewhere, not anymore though. "Yes, lets."

With a smile, she took his hand and headed off for a relaxing evening.
