Mission: The Emerald Road
Location: Main Engineering

Last night was wonderful and James had a very visible bounce to his stride when he walked into Engineering. How he could be so lucky he didn't know but he was sure glad for it. He took over from the shift supervisor and looked over the prepared report.

Sat in his little alcove in Main Engineering James could see the power usage rates from the many areas areas as supplies and equipment was replicated down in the Sickbay since not all medical gear was kept in a sterile storage and the Hanger bay was busy replicating parts, everyone down in Engineering had been wondering what was going on as we were pushing the engines hard and with little to no explanation.

=^= Engineering, I need all available speed you can muster for as long as you can sustain it. I'm told this class can sustain 9.975 for a day, do better. =^=

James's team had just finished the latest rounds of system checks having been notified by the Bridge of the need for more speed. James liked a challenge so he leapt to it as he watched the power levels rise to drive the ship faster and faster. "Ok you heard the man, lets do better." Everyone leapt into a rush, they didn't need to be told what to do, everyone already knew.

While James grabbed a fast snack to eat since he'd skipped breakfast, no thanks to two very attentive women, he sent a message to a friend, they were in the same class together back at the Academy and her first assignment was a Ambassador class ship. James knew she'd explode when she found out what he was serving on since it was her favourite class but figured she'd find some crack in his armour to get a one up on me for something. Better fuel efficiency no doubt. "Lieutenant." James heard to his left, one of his engineers had come to hand in the results of the modifications he assigned them to do.

"How did it go?" James asked.

"Smoothly, all we need is final approval for the programming."

"I'll speak to the First Officer when I see her and run it past her." James replied to the logical statement. It was good to have a team of people that knew how the game was played, not sure how they took to a newbie off ship turning up out of the blue from another ship instead of someone already on board taking the role he was occupying, even if it was on the short term.

He submitted an update to the Bridge letting them know all was ready for the extra speed and all James had to do was monitor everything and do his level best to keep it going as long as possible. James had to admit he was keen to get busy, sure new ship and all but he didn't join the ship to sit in twiddling his fingers, he wanted to be where the action was, where all the fun he read about in the Academy, where history was made and all the good things that made up the Federation were upheld.

"Sir, the engines are holding steady, we began systematic power down of several fusion reactors as you requested and here are the results of the EPS Power feedback issues that you wanted." James was wondering where those got to. He'd noted some errors before, couldn't immediately explain them so set a team on it, looks like they just finished.

All he had to do now was wait.....
