Mission:
What Stalks The Night
Location: Starfleet Fighter Command Lobby
Having been informed of the situation and location they currently found themselves in Zan had work taken to make sure they were ready to make sure fighters, equipment and munitions were ready the moment the order came through. This meant fighter's systems checked and then checked again, munitions stored in standby lockers that were armoured and secure away from vital areas. Zan was hoping that the Dreadnought they were walking onto would be the same one he left, only cleaner and fully stocked up with all the goodies needed.
"Lt. Luthar Sir."
Zan turned to see a happy go chap young man standing smartly at attention. "Yes."
"I'm Ensign Jacobs, Mara Jacobs."
"Lt. Zan Luthar, but most just call me CAG on the Dreadnought." Zan questioned himself if he was behind the times, how could he miss a new pilot. "What can I do for you Ensign?"
"I'd like to train to be a fighter pilot."
"Really, what do you do now?" Zan asked wondering what has brought this turn of career.
"Operations."
"You are no doubt aware that you need to attend Flight Academy, pass that and then get certified on the various craft. Only then can you be deployed as an active pilot." Zan explained knowing full well what had to be done since he himself had to do it. "Why do you want to be a pilot anyway, life can be pretty short."
"My Father was a pilot during the Dominion War, he didn't come back. My brother tried to be a pilot but failed the final exam."
"Well I cant just slap you into a fighter without undergoing proper training, if you are serious about it I can get the ball rolling but you should probably speak to your Commander since he/she is your boss first." Zan began to explain.
"You would have to wait until we get the green light to board the Dreadnought anyway so that you can attend the academy if you are accepted in the meantime. That said, if you pass, look me up again and I'll put in a word with the Captain." Zan wanted to make sure he was covering his ass especially since the man worked in another department.
"Yes Sir, thank you."
Zan watched the woman leave and himself returned to his snack. He wondered what Amanda was doing, wondered if she wanted lunch or had any dinner plans. The waiting at SFC was a boring on, it seemed that every pilot in Starfleet wanted something.
All Zan wanted was an update on how things were going with the resupply of the Dreadnought but when he went through usual channels he was given the run around or told they would get back to him.
Hard to get back to him if hes standing right there.
