Mission: What Stalks The Night
Location: Hacienda de Sandoval, Santa Fe, New Mexico, Earth
Timeline: Shortly after Will Receives command of Valkyrie

Rebecca was sitting on the back porch trying to read "Don Quixote". It was an ancient book printed sometime in the 1600's in the original Spanish, and part of the hacienda.

It was a beautiful day in central New Mexico. They were high enough in altitude that it was a bit cooler here than elsewhere, and with the blue skies you could see for miles. It was readily apparent why her ancestor, Jaun Francisco de Sandoval chose to build here.

Her communicator buzzed, and she closed the book gently. Sighing she stood and went inside, and returned the book to its shelf.

"Becky? Is that you?" Jonathan shouted from the kitchen. Lunch'll be ready in a minute."

"Okay dad," she replied.

Entering the kitchen she sat down on one of the stools while Jonathan fiddled with the stove. "I am going to miss your cooking."

He looked up from his meal preparations, and wiped his hand with a dirty dish towel. "You've been called back?"

Rebecca nodded, "Apparently it's a new ship."

Jonathan pulled down two mugs from the cupboard. He removed the old black coffee percolator from the stove and spashed some cold water into to settle the grounds. He filled both their cups, and sat down across from her.

Rebecca sipped the coffee. It was real coffee, and she loved it. They sat for a few minutes in companionable silence while the midday meal cooked.

Lunch had been a somber affair without the usual teasing, and boisterous conversation. Aimee had noticed it as well ans acted up spilling macaroni and cheese onto the floor.

Finally with the last goodbyes made, and bags packed, and Rebecca in full spit and polished uniform she hugged her father. He gave Aimee a kiss on the cheek.

She tapped her combadge, "Lt. Rebecca Sandoval to Dallas Transporter Control, two to beam to Stafleet Command."

"One moment Lieutenant," the voice said on the other end of the line. "Okay, we're ready Lieutenant."

"Energize."
