Mission:
What Stalks The Night
Location: USS Valkery
Ayla sat at her science console as the huge ship jumped into warp on its first leg of the journey. She sat there staring at view screen watching the stars streak by the ship as the ship headed out into the starry void of space.
Her ears swiveled to pick up the various muted conversations of the Bridge Crew as they went about their business. She let the minutes slip by as she stared at the view screen showing the same thing she had seen dozen upon dozen of times before.
She blinked her eyes slowly and gave herself a slight shake as she looked over the bridge crew. A smile and her eyes warmed up as her mate filled her vision, standing at the vast weapon console before him. She watched him as he focused on the console before him.
As she sat there, she wondered what the this mission was all about. She opened her mouth to ask, but she closed it without saying anything, as her eyes fell on the captain, Captain Hood. She wondered what he was thinking as he kept some of the Senior Staff in the dark.
She spun around on her seat to look at the console before her. Her hands poised to begin typing in commands to begin scanning for interesting things and possibility a new discovery. But alas it was a common area where many ships had passed through the area and other Science Officers had scanned the same sector of space a zillion and one times before.
She gave a soft sigh as she stood up, tapping her combadge. She listened to it give a soft chirp and softly ordered her replacement to take over the Bridge Science Station on the bridge.
A few minutes later, hearing the doors to the bridge whoosh open on pneumatics and close, admitting her replacement.
"All yooz," Ayla spoke softly as she moved away from the console to allow her replacement take over the console.
"Pretty routine?" Came the response from her replacement.
"Squee.." Ayla nodded as she debated in going to stand next Mark, But professionalism took precedence.
She left the bridge to prowl through the huge ship, getting familiar with the layout.
