Mission:
What Stalks The Night
Location: Bridge
Walking out onto the Bridge he headed for the chair and after a quick look around, sat in it. He had forwarded the course to the helm with the instructions to follow it exactly. It was time to get the show on the road and for Will, to put some distance between him and the Admiralty. "Helm, station keeping, standby thrusters and impulse drives for departure."
On the massively large view screen it could be seen that the vessels charged with keeping civilian traffic away were forming into position to escort the colossal vessel out of the system. Slowly the lumbering beast eased forward gradually picking up speed surrounded by several escorts including an Akira and Defiant class.
The instant they were able the Valkyrie jumped to warp and at the same time sent the required coded signal that they were on the first leg of the pre-plotted route. There were 17 legs to this course, each one held a signal which the computer would supply the comm station a predetermined time prior to the next leg started. Will sat confident, this ship was massive armed with cutting edge weaponry that even the Sovereign class starships didn't have. It housed two Defiant class escorts, hangered 150 fighter designed craft and a score of others in support.
He'd gotten the report that Dr Patrovski had checked and verified the cargo, every single litre of it. He also got a copy of the security report. Content that the cargo was checked and security was in place he already couldn't wait to get it off his ship. He liked to think this was a simple fetch and carry type of assignment but experience had hinted otherwise. Fetch and carry usually didn't require this kind of security, this level of planning and route taking.
He took a moment to walk around the Bridge, the various stations, the holographic table to the front, where his senior staff would be positioned, tactical, security had its own booth style setting considering the size of the ship.
As he walked around it was hard for him to pull his mind of what he was leaving behind, the Ascension. Like the Valkyrie it was a ship like no other in size and capability and while he was honoured to be given command of the Valkyrie he wondered if it would be permanent, or if he'd be shipped off elsewhere once the mission was done.
He wondered about Vash, he'd gotten notification that she had been released from the Hospital and joined the ship but he was unsure if she wanted or needed space from everyone, especially males or if he should stop by and visit. While she could stay with him he also had some quarters assigned to her, in case she needed that alone time away from everyone. He couldn't, nor would he even begin to imagine what happened to her, but he would make sure that when she was ready, he'd be available.
