Mission:
What Stalks The Night
Location: Sickbay
Timeline: Slight Backpost
Making her way through the bohemoth of a ship, Bianca finally arrived at sickbay, stepping through the doors and glancing around. She needed to do her onboarding physical, and truth be told her routine physical was overdue as well, so this seemed like a perfect time to actually meet with the Chief Medical Officer and make her presence known.
Smiling graciously at the first nurse that approached her, Bianca requested to see Commander Patrovski specifically, making it known she was happy to wait and then taking a seat, crossing her legs neatly and just watching everything happening around her.
Xavier was in his office looking over information on the status of the gel, it needed monitoring and since he was the only one that could do it, it proved a distinct interruption to his work. When he was informed that a Commander was waiting for him, asking for him by name he raised an eyebrow. He wondered if it was his Fiancé, she was a Commander and knew him and since coming on board this new ship few did.
Standing up he grabbed his long white coat thinking it was going to be a moment to treat or consult with someone. He was surprised to see a Commander in red, sitting on the chairs to one side where most waited. Walking over he spoke. "I'm Dr Patrovski, you asked to see me?"
As she stood up, Bianca held out her hand. "Nice to meet you Dr Patrovski," she said cheerfully. "I'm Commander Bianca Caselli, I just came aboard as the new First Officer." She looked around quickly, taking note of everything happening around them again. "I won't take up too much of your time, I need my physical to come onboard so I can assume duty, and I need to start meeting the crew, and I figured I'd kill two birds with the one proverbial stone, so here I am."
"First Officer...." Xavier spoke shaking her hand. That little tibbet of information caught him by surprise. "Ok, well right this way and we can get started." Xavier spoke still processing that surprising bit of information. Leading the Commander to a vacant bio bed he motioned to it with his hand. "Uh, take a seat, or lay which ever you like." He pulled forward a small trolley of equipment and medical gear that he'd need to carry out a physical.
Sitting on the edge of the bio bed, Bianca watched as he moved around. "You seem surprised?" She asked, curious about his reaction.
"Not really, once you serve on the Dreadnought for so long you kind of get used to the fact change happens and frequently so on this ship, and it's crew." Calling up her medical record Xavier began to run his scans and tests. The readings obtained were all normal which was nice. "Any issues I should know about, with any recent injuries, sleeping, eating?"
"No, nothing at all. Eat well, sleep when I can, drink plenty of water, get plenty of exercise," Bianca offered a grin. "I've been through these once or twice before. Kind of annoying really, but I understand why it has to be done. But no, nothing new, nothing out of the ordinary. My last physical was a little less than six months ago and everything was quite normal so I don't expect this to be any different." She watched him for a moment. "So how long have you been on the ship for?"
"This ship, I boarded with most of the senior staff, but if you are asking how long I've been apart of the Dreadnought crew. I started an MO on the original Dreadnought." Xavier smiled at the brief memory and it was a good one. "I've stuck with it every since, mission after mission, class after class."
Bianca smiled. "It seems most of the crew, or at least most of the senior staff has been together for a while. Makes it tough for us outsiders," she stated simply. "Any words of advice for the new girl?"
"If you were not the First Officer you would have an easier time of it. Since you are though...." Xavier continued to run checks as he talked. "Most of the staff have been together for some years, Mark and Ayla, Jack, Zan for example. Other joined soon after or later on. If anything, my only advise would be to tread gently with Colonel Frost. He is a marine, they see things differently and then there is the old rivalry between Fleet and Marine. He can be a good person to have on your team but can be a cold enemy if you cross him. One of the toughest men I know and hes got the scares to back it up."
There was a pause. "As for the rest, feel them out. They are good people, loyal, dedicated."
Bianca offered another smile, this one a little less bright than the last. "Thanks, I'll keep that in mind." She stopped speaking, just letting him focus on what needed to be done for her medical.
Once all the tests were done, all the entries input into her medical record she was cleared for duty. "Ok, we are done here. Everything is fine as we both expected annnnd." Xavier finished closing her file. "You are cleared for duty."
"Excellent," Bianca said with a smile as she slipped off the bio bed and straightened her jacket. " thank you for your time Commander, and your wise words. I'm sure I'll see you around soon enough, even on a ship this size."
"My pleasure Commander." Xavier answered as he went to square everything away ready for the next use by who ever needed. "Good luck."
