Mission: What Stalks The Night

Having finished with the Captain, Bianca was on her way to Security to see what they could discover about how it was that the gel pack in her hands had ended up laying on the deck in the middle of no where, a long way from where it was intended to be, especially given that the cargo hold was supposed to be a highly secure area. Her duty shift was supposed to be nearing an end but Bianca knew there was little chance she would be getting out any time soon. Once she finished with Lieutenant Commander Reign she needed to find Commander Patrovski to hand the gel pack over to him for investigations and then she needed to find Lieutenant Bradshaw to discuss upgrades. But first, security.

It took nearly ten minutes and two wrong turns to get to the security office, but she made it, gel pack in hand. "Commander Reign?" she asked as she entered, looking around for the Chief Security Officer.

A Andorian Ensign looked up from a desk in the Security Complex. "Commander Reign is in her office," she said, her antennae leaning to the right. "Shall I tell her who is here for her?"

"Commander Caselli, First Officer," Bianca replied as she watched the Ensign.

"Commander Caselli to see you, Commander," she tapped her console said as she gave the human woman a polite nod.

"Does that mean I can go in?" Bianca asked, raising an eyebrow slightly. "Or do I keep waiting?"

"Send her in," BJ's voice came from the hidden speaker.

"Go right in," the Andorian said.

"Thank you," Bianca offered as she headed into the Security Chief's office. "Lieutenant Commander Reign?" she asked as she paused at the door. "I'm Commander Caselli, the new First Officer."

The door barely managed to swish open to prevent the First Officer from slamming her face into it as she headed into the officer without waiting.

Without waiting for a response, Bianca closed the gap between the door and the desk, setting the gel pack on the desk in front of the other woman. "I'll get straight to the reason I'm here. It seems we may have a problem the security measures in place around the cargo hold."

Fortunately, BJ had been notified that she had company and it was a Commander. She set her coffee tankard aside as she cleared her console and looked up, barely getting the woman's name. She was slim, short and looked as if she had been cloned at some point in her life for recruitment ads for the Academy.

Her musings went off when she saw the bioneural gelpack in the woman's hand and her eyes went wide. "Commander....I'm Lieutenant Commander Reign...and how did you get your hands on that gelpack?"

"I picked it up off the floor on deck ten," Bianca replied. "How it got there is what I'm trying to find out."

"Off the floor. On deck ten." BJ echoed as her fingers flew across her console and she pulled up a recording of two children, one Commander Ayla Bawden's daughter and a male child. Her face when white. "Commander," she managed, her mouth dry as sand. "That's Commander Bawden's daughter and another child."

Bianca sighed as she reviewed the footage. "How the hell did a couple of kids get through the security protocols in place and manage to make off with gel packs?" she asked, watching the security footage as they started throwing the packs at each other.

"They're...this....I intend to find out, Commander," the Security Chief who now counted her days as numbered in front of a new Executive Officer. She tracked the video back to the theft and watched the mouse child come out of a vent in the cargo bay. She tracked the camera around and saw the two Security officers facing each other and talking instead of looking around, then watched the child take the gelpacks and exit the same way.

"Well, that explains how they got in." Bianca's expression was terse. "I'm heading to Engineering shortly, I'll have them make sure those vents are locked down so they can't be accessed from either direction. I suggest you replace both those officers if they can't be relied upon to do their job properly. Make sure in the future officers are stationed at either end of the cargo hold and not together... and I'll let you deal with those kids. I want to know exactly how many gel packs they've made off with. Retrieve them and get them down to Commander Patrovski to make sure they're not damaged." With a shake of her head, Bianca watched as the footage was replayed. A child. A child was the root cause of all of this drama. "Make sure the reports come through to me so I can collate them with the rest."

"Of course, Commander," BJ said, feeling her reputation and her career go down the drain. A child. A child had gotten past all of her security measures and protocols. The officers that had been on duty would soon discover the joys of waste management. Commander Bawden would have to be a more sensitive approach and the children more so. "I'll get on it right away. "

Bianca picked up the gel pack, ready to take it to Medical. She had been about to leave when she paused. "Commander, what's done is done, we can't change it now. Let's just make sure we're on top of it from here on out, okay?" she said gently. "And make sure the fear of the deities is put into that child. For it's own safety!"

"Acknowledged," BJ said and cringed as she laid her hands on the gelpack again. "I'll get right on it."

Holding the gel pack carefully, Bianca offered a quick smile. "Get those reports to me as soon as we can and we'll take it from there. I'll be in medical if you find anything else. Thank you Commander." Turning, Bianca retreated out of the office and made her way back out of security. Medical was next on her list.

Once the Commander had gone, BJ let out a blistering stream of Klingon, drained her mug and headed to meet with Commander Bawden.
