Mission:
What Stalks The Night
Location: Sickbay
Timeline: Just after 'Breakout'
It went from quiet to busy for Acacia with the sound of the transporter beam leaving her a patient. She wasn't the only doctor in sickbay- but she was the only one that wasn't dealing with a patient. Catching the eyes of the nearest nurse- Acacia quickly activated the biobed and started oxygen flow.
Acacia chewed on her lip as she looked at the moist face of Nielan Peperell, who was twisting on the bed with a grey undertone to his dark skin that was truly concerning to her. He was clutching his stomach and his wrists were blistered and raw from rubbing against something. Was he bound by his wrists to something? Her hands gently spread the skin and made a holo-photo of the wounds on him, before looking at his lab readouts.
The rate of replication of B and plasma cells, pumping out antibodies was quite high. His white count was also on the rise. However, the grey tinge to his face, and the high pitched sound of him fighting for each breath he was taking spoke volumes about just how sick he was. The tissues in his lips, jaw and neck were starting to swell. The display showed all the classic signs of an allergy that was progressing towards anaphylaxis. He was getting very tachycardic and she chewed on her lip a moment. "Computer, display blood gasses."
A series of numbers popped up on the screen and Acacia's lips tightened. "Lets try the old tried and true treatments. Diphenhydramine and methyl-prednisone, Tri-ox, and lets get some aerosolized epinephrine going."
A hypospray was pushed into her hand and Acacia twisted the dial. It hissed against Nielan's neck, pausing the visible rapid flutter of the beat of his heart there for a moment. The nurse beside her nodded, and a whitish blue mist poured out of the mask on his face. Nielan's face almost immediately lost its pallor, and his lips regained their mahogany color. The whistling noise quieted and then a few moments later it ceased. Nodding Acacia flicked a glance at the readouts.
Her fingers tapped in instructions into the computer at a rapid pace, and she paused a moment to think before she continued.
"Nielan!" she called and smiled when he opened his dark eyes.
'Hi doc' he mouthed, wincing as he tried to talk and nothing but a croak emerged. 'How did I get here?'
"Don't try to talk yet. From what I understand, Commander Yashui and Commander Reign went to fetch you. You'll have to take it up with them, but not for a little while. "
"What...happened?"
"I thought I told you not to talk?" casting a withering glance at him at the same time her mouth quirked up in a smile. Truly she was glad to see him strong enough to not follow her directions.
He saluted her from his prone position, and then rubbed his hands over his arms. His fingers dug into the raw wrist, further opening the wound there. 'Itchy' he mouthed, following her orders to the letter.
"You were allergic to the drug you were given in your drink."
"Was ...drugged?"
"You certainly were."
He looked relieved, and she raised her eyebrows in inquiry.
"It...means I didn't....assault that girl. I knew....I was...innocent" Nielan choked out before laying back to gasp in the oxygen being pumped from the mask.
"You don't show any signs of having been in a physical altercation. You do show signs of having been restrained for a long period of time." Acacia murmured before smiling softly at the nail marks bright on his shoulders "It does look like your intimate partner had a good time however." Gesturing with her chin to the marks on his shoulders and probably his back as well.
Nielan had the decency to blush and turn his gaze from hers before smiling faintly. Hopefully that played in his favor.
