Mission:
What Stalks The Night
Location: Bridge
Timeline: After Shuttle Launch
From Mark's sensors he watched the shuttle leave from the side of the ship. Experience had told him that secrecy never ended well for anyone and that was more so for the guy in the middle, which was them right now.
He didn't know what the cargo was and part of him told him 'the less you know' was a pretty good saying to live by right now. Mark had admit that while they were in transit he'd been having a really good long look at the weapons systems on board.
He paid particular attention to the close support systems, the turrets. 66 of them dotted about the ship in an umbrella of destructive capability. Nothing would be getting up close and personal without getting a good swift kickin in the process.
The shields were the stuff of starbases which considering the size of the ship that no doubt stood for reason too.
This new ship, it left Mark thinking about what to do about the future. He'd not managed to sit down and speak much to Ayla of late because of the hurry and rush to get things settled in, learn where the hell we were going, routes to take and stuff just for duties.
Mark had to feel for Commander Reign, Chief of Security on a ship this size, that...was a task and then some.
Sat at his terminal he was looking over the shipboard phasers, the new Type XIII's. A step up from the Ascension classes weapons package for sure, less of them though. The coverage of weapon arcs was solid and the addition of 'The Twins' was something bizarre too. Ships within ships.
The two full sized Defiant class ships tucked away in separate hangers ready to launch at a moments notice. That sure gave the ship options tactically as well as for instances where something smaller, more stealthy was required.
Mark had to wonder how Jack and Zan were doing, especially Zan since his fighter wing had gone from a meagre few to over 100. Jack's marine group had nearly tripped in size too. Mark had not really gotten to have a bit of a roam about the ship yet, he'd wanted to but with all the action that was going on it was pretty much hands to action stations as soon as they set off.
Turning in his seat he gazed over to where Ayla was working. Couldn't help but notice that she not only seemed busy but she actually seemed to be enjoying it. He thought he could see a faint smile on her face.
Was Ayla happy though?
He sent her a message to her station asking her if she wanted to go out for dinner tonight, see what the Promenade had to offer. He didn't mind staying at home but there was some curiosity as to what other options were available and it would give them a chance to see more of the ship.....
And its offerings.
