Mission: What Stalks The Night
Location: Counselor's Office

Amélie was weary. It wasn't just that she was tired, because although her body ached with fatigue, it was the weariness in her mind that bothered her the most. It didn't take an telepath to pick up on the fact that tensions were high on the Dreadnought.

The explosion had taken lives and a large part of her day had been spent dealing with families and friends of those impacted by the accident.

Accident. No, it wasn't an accident. It didn't FEEL like an accident.

Now, the news that the ship had lost contact with the away team, it had driven tensions even higher. Her meeting with the Captain had proved that he was stressed and concerned about the current state of events.

Walking across to the replicator, she ordered herself a hot chocolate and carried it across to the couch, sinking down gratefully and tucking her feet up under her before pulling a small throw rug over her lap before blowing gently across the top of the mug and taking a sip. It wouldn't do much to stimulate her, but it was at least calming. As much as her body craved the caffeine kick from a nice strong cup of coffee, since they had decided that they were going to try for a baby, she had been even more mindful of what she was eating and drinking, and coffee had been one of the first to go.

Leaning back against the back of the large, comfortable couch, she closed her eyes momentarily, just thinking.

Alain had a busy shift so far serving the breakfast shift due to the management wanting to get him used to the varied paces of shifts and foods. Life on a starship didn't cease and like a stream is was constant. People came and went ordering food some eating in while others taking the meal with them. Towards the end of his shift, nearer lunch time he found a drop in pace, only a few of the tables were occupied so he took this moment to prepare a special treat, something he knew his Wife would enjoy and despite it being woefully unhealthy, it was good for the mind.

He wanted to surprise her, the kind of out of the blue and least expected but her treat would take time to put together with care, love and devotion.

The sound of the door chime startled her from her peace. She set the mug down on the side table next to her and looked toward the door, curious. Her next appointment wasn't due for a while so she wasn't sure what to expect. "Enter?" she called curiously.

When the doors opened it revealed an unexpected presence. Alain stood there, gift in hand wrapped to hide it from view. "I believe I am your next appointment." he spoke enjoying the teasing play on her role and duties when ever he was around.

"Alain!" Amélie exclaimed, pushing the rug off her lap as she climbed to her feet, her face lighting up with genuine happiness. "What are you doing here?" she asked quickly. "Come in, come in, I don't have any appointments for a while, but shouldn't you be at work?"

"Breakfast prep and shift." He explained still getting used to shift work from the usual times back on Earth. "I thought you might want something." He stepped in through the door to let it close behind him as he offered the secret treat to her.

As the door closed behind him, Amélie set the gift down momentarily before turning her attention back to him, rising up on her toes to brush her lips softly over his. "I'm glad you're here," she said with a smile. "I was just thinking about you..." her voice trailed off as she pulled away, turning her attention back to the gift. "What did you get me?" she asked happily as she started opening it.

"If I told you, it wouldn't be a surprise." Alain knew that as much as she loved this little cakes, they could only be a treat. They could almost define the point of 'a moment on the lips, a lifetime on the hips' but it did taste heavenly.

As she opened the box, Amélie looked inside, her eyes widening with surprise before an excited squeal escaped her lips and she looked up at him. "You made it for me?" she asked, looking up at him adoringly.

"Of course I did." Alain smiled as he took a seat in the chair closest to him. "Who else would I make such a treat for?" He remembered the first time he made it for her, she was sat at a table looking out as if staring into nothingness. She'd brushed off the many advances of other men and one particularly insistent female. He took a lit candle, the plate burdened with the treat to her and placed it before her. He smiled, then left her to enjoy it.

Taking it out of the box and setting the gorgeous cake down on the coffee table, Amélie smiled, walking across to him and sitting sideways across his lap. "Do you remember the first time you ever made it for me?" she asked softly, her hand resting on his cheek.

"Before you fended off many a male, or after one particular female?" Alain spoke hinting that he remembered very well.

"If I wasn't already in love with you I would have been after that," she said with a smile. "Want to share it with me?"

"I made it for you my love." He spoke holding her to him as she sat in his lap, often her favoured place when they were together, even just relaxing and enjoying the closeness

Resting her head against his shoulder, she leaned into him, content. "You know I like sharing with you," she said with a contented smile. "How long do you have before you have to go back?"

"I'm done for the day, it was a short shift so I could get used to first service." Alain replied with a tone of relief to his voice.

"So I have you all to myself?" she asked, a hint of hope in her voice as her hand moved to rest on his chest. "My next appointment isn't for over an hour..."

"Well, you have an hour to enjoy your treat while you have me to keep you company then don't you?" Alain replied smiling

"You're no fun," she replied with a pout, sliding off his lap and moving toward the replicator, ordering a knife, two spoons and two plates. Setting them down on the coffee table, she carefully cut the cake in half and moved half the first half to one of the plates, handing it across to him with one of the spoons before she moved the other half to her own plate and picked it up, moving to sit on the other single chair next to him, tucking her feet up and taking her first bite, closing her eyes, a soft moan of happiness escaping as she smiled. "You most certainly know the way to a girls heart don't you?" she asked, looking back at him again.

"Just one." He replied watching his wife get comfortable with the treat he'd brought her. Since she had cut the cake in half he figured he might as well enjoy it as she did, a moment of peace and quiet between the pair of them.

Bites of cake interspersed with glances at him, smiles, no words needed. This was what she liked, the fact that they were comfortable enough to just be together. His presence gave her comfort. Finally, finishing the sweet treat, she set the spoon and the plate on the coffee table before looking at him. "You know, I will never get tired of eating that," she said with a smile. "But I do like it more when we share."

"Well I know you like to be treated." Alain spoke still eating his, in no rush for the moment until her next appointment.

"And you do it so well," she said, walking across the room and grabbing the small throw rug, taking it back to the single chair and curling into it, pulling the rug over her lap and leaning against the back of the chair, watching him while he ate.
