Mission: What Stalks The Night
Location: Away Team

Bianca stood near the door they had entered. Though it had been closed behind them and the impressively large form of Vic now stood as a humanoid barricade should the door fail, Bianca still felt obligated to be right there. This was her crew, a team that she was leading and that she was responsible for. She didn't want to take chances.

She watched for a few moments as Bradshaw made himself busy with the engineering side of things before shaking her head slightly, casting a chagrined glance at Vic. "I'm glad he knows what he's doing," she said quietly, keeping her voice low, not wanting to disturb the tense silence in the room. "If it were up to me to fix things we'd all be dead."

"Same" Vic tried to whisper but his big voice still had a boom to it. "My way of fixing things is with a phaser or my fist." He said as he looked at Bradshaw. "Don't think that would help us here."

Bianca bit back a chuckle and shook her head, the tension she could feel coursing through her body breaking momentarily. "No, but keep both handy, if whatever hunted them comes after us, we may need both."

Vic had been scanning the rooms for that very reason. "I had a chance earlier to give a quick glance at the bodies. I am still not comfortable saying what caused that kind of carnage." He told the XO.

"I don't think any of us are," Bianca said quietly. "I'm not comfortable with this entire situation. It just," she paused, glancing around again, her voice lowering slightly. "My hackles have been up since we got here, something is very, very off, and now we're stuck in the middle of what ever is going on."

Vic gave a chuckle. "I had literally got off my shuttle transfering with Nim when I was pulled for the mission. It has felt off from jump stree...." Vic stopped and looked around thinking he heard something.

"Probably blubber guts over there," Bianca said quietly with a slight nod toward Stefan and a shake of her head. "What do you make of the situation so far?" she asked quietly, keeping her voice low. "I mean, this is a science research facility that ordered tonnes of bio-mimetic gel... where is everyone?"

"My knee jerk reaction is there in a freezer, launched in space, or been eaten." Vic said with a straight face. "Not sure what you use the gel for but my guess is they where not following regulations."

Bianca shook her head again. "Any which way..." She cast a quick glance toward James, and then toward Xavier, who had been busy dealing with Stefan. "Our priority," she said quietly, lowering her voice so they wouldn't be overheard, "is this crew and getting them back to the ship safely, regardless. The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few, and at this point, the way I see it, our crew is the many."

"I copy, Ma'am." He said giving her a nod of agreement. He moved closer in the room waiting for the next shoe to drop.

"You can't do that, valuable research will be lost." Stefan barked. "If you turn off any of those rooms all the work those people that have died will be lost."

"In case you have not been paying attention genius, I turn one of those rooms off, or we all die. Now the choice is, death by what ever did the killing which I'm sure will be very painful. Or death when this thing blows in which you will be dead and all of it will be lost anyway. So please, enlighten me."

"Those labs contain research vital to the Federation, we can't afford to lose them." Stefan returned.

The raised voices caught Bianca's attention. Resisting the urge to sigh, she glanced at Vic quickly. "Apologies Lieutenant, it seems I'm needed."
