Mission:
New Faces and Terror Beyond
Location: MXO's Office
Sam sat in her office reading the usual reports on the troops and taking stock that there was nothing of note to report, for a change. The new troops had integrated well with the more seasoned amongst the department and were already in the process of giving additional training. Colonel Frost seemed happy with the way things were going and Sargeant Winters seemed happier now that she had more on the team like she wanted.
So for the time being things were going smoothly, which gave her time to think on recent events. Annabelle was nothing like she expected, she was able to bring her out of the 'Major Shell' and more into a woman. She would be lying to herself if she wasnt nervous about it all, this was new to her and with another woman to boot.
Afraid maybe because this was new for her, it also meant what she did effected another in a non working way. This was new because before she kept pretty much to herself, not any more it seemed.
**Door Chime**
"Come." Sam spoke lifting her gaze to the door. Her assistant came in with PADD in hand. "Thank you." Sam spoke taking it.
Private Soldatov had just certified on the heavy weapons program, by itself this was nothing of note but for the Private it put him on the promotion table. Sam entered the information into his record and sent a note to the Colonel informing him. That done however it left Sam with nearly 30 minutes of free time, time which she would use to think.
Jack's earlier conversation put a few of her woes to rest because deep down she was worried about her image especially in front of the men. That was in a way handled by force when others such as Winters saw her with Annabelle with her arm around her waist. Winters didn't seem to mind or care about what Sam had with Annabelle and she was thankful for that, being one of the few female marines in the department it was often a comfort to have the support in any degree of another.
Samantha had to admit though if only to herself that Annabelle did and has brought about a degree of calm to her. Like Jack has said they were both old enough and mature enough to decide what is best for them. Sam smiled remembering waking up next to Annabelle but that was dashed when she thought about what being with her would mean. So many times she had heard of the difficulties people had when the partner was serving, including the marines. She wondered how that would effect Annabelle, she was a civilian on board and most knew the risks but was this just a fling of the moment or was there more to it?
In any case Sam would enjoy it while it lasted since there was no point on dwelling on what might be and instead focus on what is. Standing up she walked to the replicator and made a mug of Coffee since she without thinking put an empty cup to her lips just before.
With time still free she sent a message to Annabelle.
To: Fountaine, Annabelle
From: Major Snyder, Samantha
Hi,
I was thinking maybe you would like to join me for dinner tomorrow?
I'd say tonight but training schedules for the troops need my attendance.
Let me know.
Regards
Sam
