Mission:
Not All Changes Are Welcome.
Location: USS Dreadnought, Engineering
Word had reached Engineering that damage control parties would be needed for the Agincourt. At this stage a list of exact repairs was not available but it didn't stop several teams getting ready and on stand by for when it arrived. Initial reports indicated that some critical systems were badly damaged along with armour and hull damage.
While confident the Dreadnought had the means to make all the repairs, they would still take time to manufacture and man hours to effect the repairs themselves.
James felt that this was what the Dreadnought was built for, to perform as a mobile station with a variety of capabilities which included repairs and resupply of vessels. It was a unique ship true but James couldn't help but wonder if he was suited to it, or the uniform.
With all of his friends gone to other assignments especially after the reship to the new Dreadnought from the Ascension class that alone feeling was one that was very hard to shake. Occupying himself with duties only did so much, distracting himself only worked to a point.
With his skill sets he could get something planet side he knew, at least he wouldn't move about from place to place on a planet.
An updated list came in, a sensor reading from one of the pilots currently deployed. The list was extensive to say the least but it gave him something to do, to focus on. The damage outlook now more detailed permitted a more prepared approach to the outlook of the situation and while he knew he'd only be able to ready a certain amount of people.
He hoped that with teams split between the tasks required they would conduct the repairs faster.
Secretly though James did not look forward to the diagnostics that would need to be run, every system checked and with the damage ever compartment reviewed for its integrity. Thankfully the final report was not his responsibility and it all ended with the Captain approving the ship fit for flight.
Knowing he'd be on one of the repair parties would also keep himself busy and distracted, a hands on, mentally engaging task.
Looking up from the console he could see people moving about the large room with padds in hands, talking amongst themselves about what lay ahead. What lay ahead was a huge ordeal but it seemed the staff were keen to get on hand and task with it, driven by a need for payback maybe, spurred on by a desire to shine in the moment, an opportunity to put skills into practical application.
