Mission: New Faces and Terror Beyond
Location: Makeshift Hospital

Xavier was in one of the makeshift treatment areas of the shelter that was put up, obviously it was the largest shelter present and filled with equipment and supplies to carry out a variety of procedures and treatments. A message relayed from the ship told him that Marcie, daughter of the Bawdens was dead. As Acting Chief Medical Officer a full report would have to be made, everything documented including his research into a treatment and any observations made by those assigned to look after her after he'd departed the ship.

What bothered him most was that at the time of conception both parents were healthy, as the child developed and Ayla visited Sickbay for her monthly check ups all signs pointed into the clear and even after birth everything seemed just fine. Now all that was gone and aside from a genetic anomoly there was nothing to explain why. If symptoms had kicked in during development or immediately after birth then perhaps that might make sense but Marcie was into baby years before anything showed, so why the delayed effect?

Xavier was about to give more thought to it when a Nurse walked in a young dirty looking boy and girl into the room. After some questions is boiled down to malnutrition, otherwise healthy however. A hypospray for the both of them would bolster immune systems as they would wait for a hot meal but otherwise the pair would be just fine.

The next patient was an elderly man in his sixties by the looks of him, walking aid, hard of hearing and grey hair. Complaining aside Xavier determined the man had advanced arthritis, medication would ease his condition at least for the short term but beyond...he didn't know. Xavier didn't want to make promises, he didn't know the full extent of what was going on while he was here. He was also unsure as to the future of these people, would they stay here or be evacuated to a proper medical facility?

He was directed to see a pregnant woman who appeared severely exhausted, bruised and cuts to her legs and feet. Scans showed the baby was in mild distress but something they would have to monitor. The woman complained about losing everything but glad she was alive with her baby. Xavier had to feel sorry for her as the future was uncertain and while he would try his best what came after they were gone was unknown. "Get her something to eat and drink, I've given her a mild sedative to relax her but observe and report please." A Nurse nodded and wheeled her away on one of the very few wheelchairs that were brought with them.

Another patient Xavier saw was a young male, mid twenties nursing his arm. A scan revealed it was broken and upon asking what happened he was told he tripped and fell as they climbed a steep hillside. Xavier called another Nurse over and spoke. "Broken arm, duration unknown, will need to be reset and mended. Check white cell and BP, run a blood screen for nutrient content."

Patient in and patient out constant for nearly 3 hours and by the time Xavier had more than Twenty seconds break he felt wet, tacky and tight. Under his formerly white doctor's jacket now stained and grotty from the scores of patients he'd seen, his uniform was wet and constricting. He wanted to change but time was a factor and the patients kept coming through the doors.

Another worry was keeping the place clean and sterile. It was raining outside and mud turned into a thick brown syrup with the amount of people walking through it, eventually there were brown trails leading from the entrance to the many tables and beds where patients were being tended to. Though he knew the operating theatres were sterile it posed the issue that treating someone while beneficial risked being undone by putting them back into dirty, ragged and torn clothing.

"Send this to the CAG for relay to Dreadnought, we need emergency clothing beamed down and lots of it, both genders, all ages and sizes."
