Mission: Unknown Life, Unknown Dangers
Location: Bridge. U.S.S. Dreadnought

When the Mrs went into the Commodore's office I went to the tactical, I wanted to see the progress of loading the extra munitions that I requested since I felt that a standard loudout would leave us critically short in the early stages of a fight considering the amount of heavy weapon turrets on board. Captain Havrelli had already approved the enhancement but it took time for SFE to gather the quantity I was talking about. Phaser coils had all been replaced which was standard routine when docked.

The highlight of the day though was the Commodore. I had done some research on the man and the big thing that stuck out was he was not the typical flag type. Risk taker but not to the point of putting things in the extreme. Word was already going around of his little dance in the new club on board and seen leaving with an Orion woman. Now I try not to judge, hell I married a 5 foot tall walking mouse, but if that's the way the Commodore roll's then fair call to him. So what if he wants to tear it up a little, unwind from a days work but as long as hes on the ball when on duty that honestly was all I cared about.

Obviously the chat between the Mrs and Commodore was taking its time, expected when meeting a new First Officer. I just hoped he kept her on in that capacity to be honest, it was good that Havrelli gave her the shot, but would the Commodore sink her now that he was on board?

Though secretly I'd been thinking of resigning and being more of a 'at home' Dad to look after Miracle. I'd done my time, served my place and made Commander, even Colonel at one point so I've climbed my ladder. Ayla was taking a major step in her career and I knew that having Miracle it could put a contention on her. I didn't know if Ayla would get a shot at the centre chair but I could hope and being First Officer to an Admiral, a Commodore and on a Ascension Class, that had to mean something.

I had not spoken to Ayla about this yet, maybe I'd break it to her over dinner tonight and see what she thought of it.

*A few minutes later*

I was handed a report that transportation of the torpedoes was underway at last, it was about time but I understood the delay at least. Gathering thousands of torpedoes for a ship this size, in batches to suit the many magazines on board would take time. "Thanks for this." I replied to the officer who left me alone with a smile.

Having read the report it would take a day to load the weapons, verify testing and store in the armoured racks. A day was fine, we were not scheduled to leave right now anyway. Engineering was already aware that weapons wee coming on board, as such the Chief Engineer had to sign off on every batch or torpedoes that came on board, the fun that would be for him considering how many that would be.

As long as the ship was ready to go when the Commodore wanted it to, I knew at least from a tactical side of it with all the weapons on board.

She would be.

A little while later Ayla stepped out, by the smile on her face things seemed to go well. Time to find out what happened...
